So no excuses for losing to the Petes and Erie with a full team?Knights were missing Cowan, Bonk, Haltunnen, Barkey to world junior training camps/tournament and still went on an 8 game win streak

And he was part of a group of half a dozen or so forwards who couldn’t get it done for Team Canada at the WJC. They struggled especially vs the better teams. If Cowan maintains his development curve I think he's gone. He's been the best player on the ice most of the OHL games I've seen him this season.
The way Kitchener was shooting, I'm surprised they hit the boards behind the net. That Willmore save is a highlight reel and should be save of the week on the OHL site.BUT given those chances, Rangers shot wide....wide....wide. Other than the shot by Romano that Willmore grabbed as he rolled on his back,
They really didn't do a great job putting that squad together. Plus the coach was out to lunch. And he was part of a group of half a dozen or so forwards who couldn’t get it done for Team Canada at the WJC. They struggled especially vs the better teams.
He’s good, but I see him returning.
True. Not utilizing Rehkopf like he should was evidence enough to me that the coaching staff failed. They really didn't do a great job putting that squad together. Plus the coach was out to lunch.
I don’t get it, I thought Letang was a great pick. Who could have imagined the guy that bumbled his OHL’s teams best shot at a championship since their inception and failed his way up to the WJC head coach position wouldn’t excel on the world stage?True. No excuses, still got a point in each game, and 32 of 34 in last 17 games. So no excuses for losing to the Petes and Erie with a full team?
Regular season means nothing Slowpace. Meet one of those bottom 8 defensive teams that keep the top seed to the outside and they are golfing early. Happens every year.No excuses, still got a point in each game, and 32 of 34 in last 17 games.

I had to look that up, and it's true. Wild that it has only been the rangers twice since 15-16.It might seem like that, but that's actually not true. The Rangers are the only team to pull off an upset in the first round of the OHL playoffs since 2015-16, believe it or not.
I actually prefer this to the joke NHL playoffs where anyone can squeak in and ride a hot goalie and lax penalty calling to a conference title. It does make for a pretty boring first round but once you weed out the also-rans you typically get pretty good hockey.
NHL has extreme parity because of the salary cap for better or for worse. Any of about 12-14 teams could win any given year. Teams like the Leafs - never .It might seem like that, but that's actually not true. Can't really say it's not true when it's plausible and been proven can happen. It does strike fear into the hearts of fans of the top teams going into the playoffs. Nothing is guaranteed in hockey or life except taxes and death. If it happens it make for an interesting scenario for the rest of the play offs for sure. As for the Rangers this year they are going to have to show more than they have in the last third of a season. Defensively they really have to tighten up or they could meet their demise earlier than they might have.It might seem like that, but that's actually not true. Blues can you imagine a Leaf Fan having a bucket list wanting to be the driver of the float when the Leafs celebrate 100 years of not winning the cup? Little old guy with white hair down to his ankles shaking his fist at the clouds for no letting the sun shine on his big day! Just kidding. Leaf fans are a hardy bunch full of hope.NHL has extreme parity because of the salary cap for better or for worse. Any of about 12-14 teams could win any given year. Teams like the Leafs - never .
OHL has little parity.
I have buddies that are Leaf fans that have seats reserved on the parade route. We've also had 40th, 45th, 50th and 55th Anniversary Parties to " honour the last ever Leaf Stanley Cup". All in good fun and we made a donation to the Food Bank .Blues can you imagine a Leaf Fan having a bucket list wanting to be the driver of the float when the Leafs celebrate 100 years of not winning the cup? None here. Long W streak n couldn't beat teams most expected them to.So no excuses for losing to the Petes and Erie with a full team?
No problem rve. Just joshing. We all wish our teams were on win streaks.None here. Long W streak n couldn't beat teams most expected them to.
Kudos to the Petes n Otts.
Coroner I am one of those kids that cheered for the Bruins. They looked like world beaters last year and disappeared in a hurry. The Stanley Cup is a difficult thing to win. You just won't see the dynasties anymore like in days gone by. Salary cap has basically wiped out loyalty to any one team. Teams are top heavy in salary and if these guys can't produce the team won't be around long. There is no magic formula. Teams have to hope they can make it through to the final without being run through a meat grinder of broken ribs and other injuries. There are a couple of teams that look solid right now but I would never place a bet they win the cup.I'm a Leaf fan, I have a feeling the best I will get is holding on to having a relative on the team the last time they won the cup. The funny thing is, as poorly constructed as the team is, it's still the best 'era' we've had since the Sundin year (mainly early 2000s)...and let's face it, watching the Leafs lose IS the Stanley Cup for several Canadian fanbases who also aren't winners. So they serve a purpose.
I was born into it, I should have been the contrarian Ontarian kid who picks the Habs or Bruins (or born descended from one such person) like many I know, mostly the latter, but alas.
I know. All good. Just playing also. Would love to see another Ktown/Knights PO series to make it best of 3 over last few years. It'll take 3 more PO Ws to make up for the game 7 (3-1 lead lost) to even it up lol.No problem rve. Just joshing. We all wish our teams were on win streaks.
Might Micheal Catenacci be a closer comparible for Lam? That would be Petizian-ish without the grit?An aside....Lam isn't Petizian and I'm not comparing them or their games other than I get the same contribution to the "team" vibe in the sense the kids a gamer and will make a difference in spots this year and increasingly so over the next 3 years.
Saw Petizian often in MM ( not involved now so hadn't seen Lam, and posted here often ya had a good one) but not Lam. If he has half the set of...... Pet had, he will be a pain in the azz for all KR opponents starting next year.
Think I met ya at a prospects spring tourney pre covid (aresknights) in Kitchener.
Sure there’s parity in the NHL. More so than there was during the 21 teams NHL. The difference is that back then, they allowed 16 of 21 into the playoffs. Guaranteed you’ll have multiple crappy teams make the playoffs. A 50 something point Leaf team comes to mind. Same in today’s OHL. When you let 16 of 20 teams into the post season, most often you’ll have crappy, pushover teams as the bottom seeds.NHL has extreme parity because of the salary cap for better or for worse. Even with only 10 teams I feel the best 2 teams in each conference still have a clear cut advantage. By "best 2 teams" I don't go by the standings as they are sometimes convoluted as the top team from what could be a weaker conference gets awarded the 2nd seed.Sure there’s parity in the NHL. In today’s NHL, there is so much parity in the playoffs because you’re only allowing half of the teams into the post season. You have to be damn good to get in. There are no crappy, pushover teams. No easy outs. In comparison, if we only allowed half the OHL teams into the post season, you’d have to be pretty damn good to get in.
Lam is way ahead of either of them when all were 16.Might Micheal Catenacci be a closer comparible for Lam? That would be Petizian-ish without the grit?
