I prefer less ice for Schmidt regardless of how it happens.
Schmidt and Campbell did not have a good game tonight. Lots of turnovers early and some shaky passing. I was also disappointed that all Schmidt could do after the Windsor players wanted a piece of Lam after a hit was to push a couple of their players. Come on, drop the gloves and stick up for the rookie!

Remember that idiot that was on here like 3 months ago that said the rangers should move on from Pugliese?

Oh wait, I am that idiot. Woops.
Pugliese had a terrriic game tonight! Buzzing all game. Gordie Howe hat trick and took down a much bigger guy.

So what happens tomorrow? Normally it's the 2nd game where the bad blood boils over. Hopefully everyone behaves.

It’ll probably be one of those games where there’s just a couple minors called again each side.

Historically, in home and home games where the first game is like this one was tonight, the second game is usually very tame. I’m looking for the Rangers to win a lopsided yawner.

I expect that David Branch sends a memo to both teams telling them to behave because the league is watching the game very closely.

I know I will probably catch flack for saying this because many believe that fighting should not be in junior hockey.

Man I miss these games. They remind me of that 90’s and early 2000’s Rangers games. Fighting brings people out of their seats and gets the crowd riled up more than goals do.

If I’m one of the players playing in the game in Windsor, and someone runs my teammate into the glass from behind, I’m not going to care much what David Branch had to say before the game.

Just sayin.

That Lam play was a little Dirty, although I don’t think he meant it. Hopefully they don’t take runs at him tomorrow

It was embellished by the Windsor player. At least a little. The ref was only a few feet away, looking right at the play, and shook his head “no” right away when that happened. That means he felt the player embellished.

Hence, no penalty.

Figured. only saw the end of it with his head going into the boards and the guy chasing him. Would have been kinda impressive for a 140 pounder to lay someone out

Could the pug fight be considered a planed fight similar to the London Owensound one last week? If pug and Sop are suspended do they call up Arquette or run 11 forwards

I'd prefer to see less penalties tonight. Some were very weak calls, but that seems to be the norm these days. I don't think I've read a post game interview where the coach was disappointed in their teams efforts in a 9-2 win. Jussi sees through the noise. He'd rather see a well rounded, disciplined team effort. This team is very good at burning teams when they make mistakes, which Windsor made a lot of last night, but that doesn't mean they played amazing.

One thing they mentioned on the broadcast that I found interesting is that the Rangers were getting on the bus and heading for Windsor right after last nights game and having a practice there in the AM, as opposed to driving out day of in the past. Much needed change. Can't count how many weekend games we saw just terrible efforts especially in opposing teams barns which was. imo, probably a combo of too much fun post Friday/Saturday night games and bus legs.

One thing I have been thinking about in terms of buy/sell/stand is that the main factor in all of this may not be the players but the coach. If MM believes this teams success is in large part to Ahokas, and given how well he's doing, his trajectory may well have him graduating to the pro level after his 2 years here. If you think Ahokas is 'the guy', maybe you do consider a soft sell or a soft buy (ie. using assets from extra OA to get someone who fills a hole).
I still think selling sets the franchise the best for the long term, but if you think Ahokas is an A+ coach and that you probably won't find a guy of his calibre at this level anytime soon again, maybe that changes things.

Goaltending was a major factor in the game. We were outshot. Parsons stood on his head. May have been his best game of the season. I’d have given him the 1st star. The Windsor goalies, on the other hand, pretty much the opposite.

We didn’t play all that good really and Jussi was justified in saying so.

At some point, Team Canada should at least be giving Parsons some consideration.

I think it’s been standard for years that in this situation, the team leaves right after the game to avoid the game day bus legs the next night.

Other teams save $$$ on hotels going the day of. We have the luxury of deep pockets.

Agree on Parsons, unfortunately I think missing last season may really hinder his chances.
Hopefully Jussi reads them the riot act today about not getting involved in any shenanigans tonight. After taking a few beatdowns most players (Windsor) start to lose their cool and getting suspended is the last thing the Rangers need.

Nope. I mentioned it specifically because it was mentioned on the broadcast that this was not the case previously.

Rangers had to kill 9 penalties which contributed to the shot total. Kudos to the penalty kill and Parsons athletics for shutting the Spits down. Even your correct about the play. Rangers were brutal in their own end. They either gave the puck away on light passes or the Spits took it off their sticks several times. The offense saves the Rangers and is a killer with so many highlite reel goals. One thing of note that I love about Jussi is him saying the Aud should be a hard place to play in for opposing teams. He also liked the fact that the team stuck up for each other. Who of thunk Sop would fight like he did? Last year it was Pinelli that became the sacrificial goat many times while others stood and watched. This year they all seem to have each others backs. Todays game will be interesting to say the least. Refs better be on their toes.

It had an Emmy written all over it. Very soccer-like.

Well, I will tell you, in the past, that I’ve seen with my own eyes, the team bus load up and go right after a game to hit the road for a game the next night.

Might not have been every time. But if the next game is more than a couple hours out, often they’d go post game like last night.
