Despite the controversy the Knights scored more goals and won. Rangers need more out of Sop and Razor. Both need to battle their way through the checking and put some points up. Elinas goes to the net to find goals and he is a rookie. On a side note Hunter is sending a tape in to the league on the 5 minute penalty. Guess he doesn't see an infraction. He rang a few guys bells when he played. Savard could have a concussion and the Rangers could be down a defenseman. Last 8 suspensions average to close to 4 games per player. Won't help the Rangers much they still have to find a way to win.

Do we still have the rights to Gabriel Runco? If we're down a D or two could he be eligible to play games?
No Savard. No Campbell. They likely go with 13 F and 5D. Outside of MacNiel, who isn’t available, I don’t think there’s another option

I have an idea. How about our veteran D stay out of the box. They combined for 10 pims last night.

That’s 10 mins we could have used them on the ice.

I think it will stand and the player will be suspended. Regardless of how the check finished, the Knights player had like 32 strides before the hit to think about what he was doing. Intent was there.

And what a dumb penalty that was. Don't throw your hands up man, that was so obviously a penalty lol
It may have been a dumb penalty, but there was embellishment as well. The right call would’ve been to send both of them off. But at the end of the day, you can’t wrap your arm around somebody these days, and expect not to be penalized

I'm solely focusing on Motew here, so yeah, don't do that.

Per Otto on the London board:

OHL Rule 63.7

63.7 Awarded Goal - In the event that the goal post is displaced, either
deliberately or accidentally, by a defending player, prior to the puck
crossing the goal line between the normal position of the goalposts,
the Referee may award a goal.

In order to award a goal in this situation, the goal post must have
been displaced by the actions of a defending player, the attacking
player must have an imminent scoring opportunity prior to the goal
post being displaced, and it must be determined that the puck would
have entered the net between the normal position of the goal posts.
although it didn't matter at this point anymore the 2 sticking points I have are 1. I'm not sure how you can say with 100% certainty that the puck wouldn't have at least touched the post if it had been there, and 2 being the imminent scoring opportunity part. Cause from what I can see, the wraparound was the imminent part and the shot was the second chance and thus not imminent one.

I noticed the Knights were focused on nailing Motew. Couple of dirty shots on him also. They must of looked at video and found him more effective in the defensive end or something. Either that or he was an easy target. Expect more as the series moves on. Knights were the most penalized team. Only way to counteract is a strong power play. They are not going to change what got them to the top.

The Knights play like it's full strength on the PK and it always seems to throw teams off.

The best chance Rangers had on special teams was actually a PK breakaway in the 2nd.

"Imminent" means "about to happen" McCues attempt wasn't imminent because it didn't go in. Barkeys was because, semantics about the post aside, the judgement from the refs was that it would have gone in. Re: The post: really all they have to go on is hole placement and where the puck crossed. It was to the right of the hole so they concluded the puck would have entered the net. Different discussion if the puck went over the hole

It's called an imminent scoring chance and a wraparaound attempt was about to happen on the play so that makes it the first and most imminent chance. My feelings about the post is that the post sits slightly outside of where the whole is. Also how is a red supposed to make all these determinations on an ipad as well.

Even if McCues chance can be defined as imminent, the word still doesn't mean initial. As the play happened Barkey still had an imminent chance. If the net was not dislodged the puck would have gone in (post argument aside) Had the Rangers cleared or gained control, or even if the puck bounced elsewhere, then there is no imminent chance. I spoke with a team official today who said the play happened so fast that Barkey didn't even realize the net was off.

I think thats a stretch. Felt like a cut and dry penalty on Motew imo.

You could tell Hunter was livid the referee disobeyed his direct orders.

Thought they responded well after the controversial goal. We had good PP opportunities but didn't use our time well. Sometimes it feels like our guys are always standing still when they take a pass, while the Knights players feel like they're feet are already in motion when anticipating and receiving a pass; much quicker and smoother transitions. Seem to be getting good results from secondary scorers on this team, but the lack of high end production from Sop, Rehk and Brz (I know he had a goal last game) is really holding us back.

If Sale keeps this up into next season, we should 'get our money back' or perhaps more so but that's a long ways away.

Elinas with a real nice tip on the shot from the point. Fully expect O'Reilly to get 2 games.

Neither team played particularly well, looking forward to see who finds another gear or two.

The book vs the Rangers this playoff, no matter who we face, will be to run our thin, young, D out of the rink. Get the few veteran D off the ice one way or another. The more minutes Reid, Savard and Dirracolo have to play, the better for the opposition.

I don’t believe anyone really hits to injure, but certainly they hit to hurt. There is a difference. We should be doing it too.

Andonovski? Two easily avoidable penalties last night. What was he going to accomplish with that slash? Wasn’t going to reduce the scoring chance.

Motew? Already talked about the holding penalty. How about getting sucked into coincidentals at the 20 min mark? Skate away damnit. Don’t engage. We need you on the ice. Four on four or not, a veteran D (thin, young D remember) going off with a forward is a bad trade off every time.

Cut and dry for sure. But the London player helped it along quite a bit.

I wasn’t expecting a diving call. Not upset it wasn’t called. But I was expecting a veteran D to know better.

London not playing well here scares me, and why they will probably win the whole thing.

I don’t think it matters if it would have hit the post or not. If the rule was called correctly, you don’t even get that far because the play would’ve been dead after the imminent chance (wraparound).

Geez. Maybe next time the net can be over in the corner somewhere but as long as the opposition has possession of the puck, we don’t blow the whistle because they have eminent opportunities! L O L. Let them continue trying shots in the area of the net!
😜

O'Reilly is a skilled player. Going to make his mark in this league before moving on for sure. Despite our vision of a perfect game we hardly ever see one. Hockey is a game of mistakes and puck luck for the most part. If there were no controversies there would be nothing to discuss.

The net should not come off so easy goalies have been using goalposts to push off and block wraparounds for years
The ice crew in London did a bang up job
