Re conversations around Sale. I second the notion that he had a good game last night. To me there have been signs of improvement over the past couple weeks. Still not the first round pick calibre player we thought he would be entering the O, but steps in the right direction.
Regarding Sale he does seem to get to the net quite a few times a game. He isn't the only top line player that we would like to see more impact from especially in the playoffs.

Hmmm, top 3 picks grouped together then a big drop off apparently. Belchetz is already 6'5", 230 lbs. 46G/84 pts in 34 games with the Oakville Rangers. Kid probably will go to an NHL camp early so may not get an OA year or even 18 yr old in the OHL, though

Spitfires weighing 6'5" Belchetz as #1 pick
There are some skilled players in this draft that Kitchener will get a chance to draft if they play their cards right. If you take a read of the draft thread there are some talented players in the first couple rounds. Some with size.

I was wondering the same thing...Seems kind of random.

Have we ever had an 8 pm start time ?
All games started at 8pm one time.

8pm start ending anywhere from 10:30 to 11pm or beyond depending on the level of on ice extracurriculars.

Then head to the bar.

Memories!

Just watched Xhejak score a beauty. Wish Rangers had of signed that guy. Big, tough and can score.
When he was at a Rangers camp, he looked good and then, he dropped the gloves with a player and demolished him. I thought then...what a great add....but who knows what the management team and coaching staff thought. Plus, ice time may have had Xhekaj thinking that another team may be a better bet. All water under the bridge I know but you sure could tell that he had an older brother who likely didn't baby him when they played shinny growing up.

Florian was also older than other rookies in that camp. I think he fought twice when I was there. I think he was in a couple of camps. Home town boy from Hamilton. Made the right choice.

Yeah - I was there, too. He initiated a fight with a low draft pick that was two years younger and considerably smaller. Other guy seemed surprised to find himself in a fight and never really got started. Next time, X found a guy that was only one year younger and a more willing combatant. That one was basically a draw. I'm not sure that he proved much to the coaches on either fight.

Yes Squirrel you are correct. Coaches were looking for a diamond in the rough that could play hockey in the rookie camp. Hard to beat out the drafted kids. Florian has proven a lot since. NHL drafted. Scores , fights and grew into NHL size. In saying this he could still disappear like so many OHL players before him. Major A hockey is quite an accomplishment. Most never turn into solid pros.

Funny how earlier on these boards we were talking about the rarity of upsets in the 1st round. Technically, we have 2 of them already in the East. Here's hoping that is it for 2024!

Regarding Florian, he's a good OHL player and I think will be a good AHLer, but I don't really see "it" the way I did watching Arber play and seeing him as almost a sure fire NHLer.

Given how close the 1st-6th teams were in the East, the Sudbury/Mississauga and Ottawa/Brantford series I wouldn't really count as upsets
