I'd like to see someone make Beck answer for running Constantini before this game ends. I assumed there was no response because a penalty was coming, but of course the refs blow an easy call. That's when someone needs to take the law into their own hands. Instead we quietly let them score a couple shifts later.

Do we even have the personnel to carry out that task?

I could have sworn Buchell was relieved of his duties over the summer. I have never seen a more disrespectful ref in this league. Well, at least since Park was around.

I mean, anyone can give him a cheap shot and risk a major. Andonovski would do it if asked.

I can't believe there was no penalty on the Missy player using his stick like a shovel to a bail of hay on Pinelli throwing him into the boards and then doing a WWE move on him...then no penalties in the scrum. Almost seems like the refs got together and decided they wanted to call a rare "no penalty" game because both teams did enough to earn a few penalties each at least. Maybe it's a full moon.

He was definitely shoved.

I feel like nobody wants to say it because we love our Rangers and these players are teenagers and have been here awhilebut flat out we cannot compete for a league championship if Valade and Serpa do not take the step fwd we all thought we would be getting from last year to this year. I would argue late last year they they were a threat to score every shift. This year I would grade their games as “fine”, and fine is not going to cut it.
We need some impact ie the “Hawel Meireles, Yantzis” year

Someone tell me I’m wrong

Definitely one of the best junior lines all time, however, as you said that team had a lot more. Robbie Thomas, Max Jones, Victor Mete are 3 I can think of off the top, that are still in NHL, there's likely more.
Berisha and Piccinich were good junior players, but Owen Macdonald was really the guy that drove the 3rd line. He was a relentless pest.

You're wrong in the statement that "nobody wants to say it". There have been several posts in these boards about our OA's needing to find that next gear and even talk about upgrading our OA's.

I remember in my coaching days (minor hockey) an opposing player took a real cheapshot at our obviously best player. In between periods the grandparent of our "star" burst into the room and berated the coaches because we didn't "take care of business". My buddy (head coach) looked at ole Gpa and said "which player do you suggest I choose to go out there and address the issue"? Gpa soon realized his grandson was the only kid capable of retribution and my buddy looked at him and said " right now get the hell out of my room your embarrassing yourself and your grandson"!

Knights fans were sometimes annoyed with how much double shifting Dale was doing of that top line. They may as well have only had 9 forwards and some nights used the top line so heavily they could have dressed 6 forwards.
LOL, ah the good ole days as a Knights fan would love to be in a similar situation where calling Dale out for icetime management was our only concern!

Why waste Rehkopf on the 3rd line and not have him on the Pinelli Mesar line? CD has admitted that the trio are a threat together. So play them!! This 3rd line thing isn't working.

IMO Valade should have been with Serpa and Sop. Let the chips fall where they may for the 3rd and 4th.

With Swick returning (and Martin out), I'd put him up with Serpa/Sop Valade to see if he can pick up where he left off before illness.

And on that play, the puck was never covered with the ref standing over the play with full view of the live puck. Yet the play was stopped. I figured, ok, they’re calling a penalty. But no call came so why the whistle?

Why was Valade on the ice with the goalie pulled with Brzustewicz on the bench?? He was ineffective all night, was taken off the top line going into the third, and Hunter B is our best offensive D.

The only way Rehkopf should be moved off that line to “even out the scoring” is if we acquire top end F’s in trade meaning our forward group is a lot deeper. Otherwise, he’s wasted down the line up.

Couple of points on the game last night. First Missy played one hell of a road game. Their top 2 lines are skilled and can put pucks in the net. If an opponent comes into the Aud and neutralizes Pinelli and Mesar the Rangers are dead in the water. OAs, Serpa and Valade are playing on the perimeter and not contributing. OA forwards should be putting up real numbers. When Fishman is the only player able to put a puck in the net it's very telling where this squad is in the grand scheme of things going forward. When the goalie gets run over and your captain gets pitchforked in your barn shows there really is no respect for the home team.

Buttsy I see your point about minor hockey. This though is the OHL. Huge difference. In this league when an opposing player elbows and flattens out your goalie a response is required. Refs were ignoring all infractions anyway. Hunter would never let something like that slide. Rangers were being pitchforked and knocked around behind Missy's net. Basically, it's no one's fault but the Rangers. They allowed these incidents to go unchecked. I think MM has to do his job and bring in some sandpaper. Sudbury is up next. The have 3 players 6'6" or bigger. Dmen are all big with one exception. Maybe they can bring the snarl out of the Rangers.

Oh, he was? The replay they showed a few times didn't show a shove, albeit one angle was maybe too in tight on the net, could have been just out of frame. I guess that would explain the lack of response.

The pitchfork on Pinelli in front of the ref, followed by the suplex being a non call is still baffling to me...they pushed back then but I expected a bit more

Hawel was kind of disapointing for my money. You're right about Serpa and Valade, although Serpa looks like he might be turning the corner of late, Valade still has really bad tunnel vision with the puck and tends to stay to the perimeter. He's usually better in the second half, but if he's just going to be last years Valade, then it may be something you look into upgrading if you can find the right partner.

Hawel had promise. I think we, and he, were robbed of a long playoff run due to Covid. Would have loved to see that team in the post season.

In a year we’re supposed to contend, I’d rather not “hope” our OA forwards have a better second half.

I said early on, I’d have been in on Diaco. He’s shining in London right now and for only a 2nd and 3rd?

I swear CD has started Rehkopf on the third line and then halfway through a game when Pinelli and Mesars line-mate is playing bad he finally outs Rehkopf up there and they almost always get better. I don't understand how he can see this happen before his eyes and continue to do it.

I also don't think that they were horribly outplayed at all last night. I just think they didn't capitalize on any of their grade A chances. They probably should have scored 3-4 times minimum last night with all the wide open back door chances they had.

If I were coaching, I would have Rake on the 1st line and Pinelli bumped down to 3rd! I'm as disappointed in Pinelli's performance this year as I have been with Valade's. True, he's leading the team in points but something just seems off. Perhaps him with Mesar needs a bit more time to adjust?

Anyone have any specifics with regards to Martin's injury? Hoping it's not a concussion. And how did Parsons get hurt? Scrimmage?

The way things are unfolding, it is looking like a "sell year". Can't wait for the OA's to pick it up and wait for long term injuries to return.

Yeah, I had a very close up view of that. It probably looked bad from further away but Beck really tried to brake and not contact him but he got a shove from behind when he was already off balance trying to stop. It was definitely not dirty.

But your main point stands. The officials let a lot go that were clear penalties. They definitely had dinner reservations!

This season's first 2 picks were no shows. At the very least I was hoping to see more of our 3rd round pick Justin Bottineau being developed this season. He did get some high praise from Brock Otten who thought he could of went a bit higher in the draft. Not really getting much out of the bottom lines at all. Morey just one point and Fishman 2. I thought these two seemed to be as effective as any other players last night. Morey is of smaller stature but looks like a player that could come around down the road. His minor coach says he has the highest hockey IQ of any kid he ever coached. Fishman has only this season to show he can make an impact. I doubt he will be back as an OA unless he really finds a way to put up some decent numbers. Fishman looked great and stood out in the rookie camp back when he started. Also, I wonder if the coach keeps riding Constantini or Vandenberg steps in to give him a break? Just some thoughts.

Bobber, I did also think Fishman-Morey-Pugliese were the most effective line last night.

Despite the loss, you see more structure and cohesion now, particularly in their own end. So there is progress.

If he can only get consistency from the top six, they’ll be fine. Losing Martin will hurt though.

Tim, I agree. There seems to be a concerted effort by the team to play harder and get to pucks faster for the most part. Martin was really stepping up his game lately. I am sure scouts are really starting to notice. He was one of the most consistent players. These next two games will at least be a bonding experience. Both Sudbury and North Bay are big squads.
