Does anyone have info on what the Rangers draft cupboard looks like at this point in time?
So, with the help of “OHL Media Notes” and the “OHL draft pick database”, I believe the picks we have available to be traded up to the next deadline are:

-five 2nd round picks,
-eight 3rd round picks,
-six 4th round picks.

That’s up to and including the Costantini trade. One of the 4ths has conditions on it via the Merrick Rippon deal. I’m not 100% that pick is still ours. I assume it is.

One of those 2nds (Bar) is in the next draft. I think we should try and hold onto that pick. Adding that selection to the two 1sts we have would be a good start to the next cycle.

The conditional picks from the Hage deal aren’t included above.

Thanks Even. Rangers being tied with the Storm at the bottom of the conference with 8 points they only have one direction to go. MM brought in a new coach and the last year's top goalie. Fairly sure he is embarrassed by the current situation. This will force his hand to pull the trigger on some sort of move to right the ship if things don't improve over the next few games. Excited to watch Misa play at the Aud. Underage player tied for the league in goals. Kid is going to be one hell of a player before he leaves the OHL.

Hope this doesn't wreck your day, but Misa won't be playing in Kitchener tonight. He is playing with the U17 Canada Red team right now.

Dang! I was hoping to see him play. We are lucky to have these exceptional players in the OHL and have an opportunity to see them before they turn pro down the road.

Saginaw did a great job of scoring 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd last night for a 3-2 win. Rangers beware.

Need to see the team we saw prior to last weekend for a full 60.

I think with Serpa fans / management just need to give the kid another month or so before an opinion can be formed on his performance this season. Losing your best friend at 20 years old I’m sure would be tough and that happened right before the season started. Some people can handle that better then others. I think Serpa just needs a bit of time. I have faith he will turn his season around soon and turn that 2nd line into one of the best in 2nd lines in the OHL. Give it a month or so and let’s see what happens.
I agree I suppose. But, MM has to weigh waiting for Serpa to come around versus making an improvement now if there is a trade to be had that won’t be there a month from now.

I’d like nothing better than for Serpa and Valade to get to their expected output for this year. Both were around a point a game last year. I had them around the 80 point mark this year.

If, these guys can get their play up to that level, then I’d say we stick with them as OA’s. But clearly, they’re not at that level right now. If we start winning some games, their point totals will hopefully come up.

What a game last night against Saginaw! Even though I personally love scoring, Rangers were engaged from the start right to the finish. They had tenacity, determination, and energy last night against a very good team and showed that if they work together and execute their defensive systems, they not only can keep stride with their opponent but they can win. And there to shut the door was Constantini. He's calm, cool, and collected....seems to feed on the action in and around the net.

I was glad to see CD go back to the Rehkopf Mesar Pinelli line in the 3rd. Many offensive opportunities despite Saginaw's choking defensive zone coverage but Lennox was stellar. And the crowd really got into the game later in the 3rd urging the Rangers on. Haven't heard that in quite a while. It was a fun and entertaining game for sure. And a bonus that they won.

Now on Tuesday against OS, they need to focus on their game and stay away from the OS style of gritty and taunting play. GO RANGERS.

Happy the Rangers won that contest last night. Watching on the tube was like watching paint dry. We have to put this game in perspective. Saginaw finished dead last and acquired the top pick in the last draft. We all thought the Rangers would be in position to easily handle the rebuilding teams this season. This game could have gone the other way. This is the OHL. At the very least the Rangers kept pace with the Storm who seem to be waking up. They are missing a few solid players at the moment. On a side note, Adam Mascherin has been practicing with the Rangers lately. We could use him up front for a few games. ;)

I don't think the win itself is big, I think it's just nice to see them engaging in puck battles and not giving up or taking shifts off frequently. Bad as they were last year, they're better this year and Mintyukov is maybe the best D in the league, or right up there.

I was surprised to see Mascherin not with an AHL team at least. Had a good rookie season and good 3rd year then low production going down to Sweden and now Austria seems like a strange trajectory.

Got to hand it to Saginaw, they have one aggressive penalty kill.

Nice to get the W, but I think the true test is coming up. Three of the next four are against teams hovering around the .700 mark (as of right now). If I'm MM I would consider using this as a true yard stick. IMO it goes a long way in determining the destiny of this team this season, and the decisions that are to be made. He, of course may (likely?) already have his mind made up which direction his going in.

Oh yes, we can always use a guy that passes when he should shoot! LOL!

The big take in last night's game is that Tristan Lennox is still in the league. Is he an OA? Either way, I always considered him one of the best tenders in the league so the 1-0 score was no surprise. We easily could have had a few more goals against a lesser goalie last night.

Lennox is a one hell of a goalie. Guess you could say the lessor goalie deal for any team in the league mostly. Saginaw has one of the top two power plays at the moment. Rangers get credit for their penalty kill last night. That game reminded me of games against the Storm and Brampton when they played trap hockey. Hate to see that happen at the Aud.

Really surprised where Mascherin ended up also. He did say he would be making some sort of announcement soon about his future. Saw him at Stanley Park Mall the other day. Must be sticking around KW for a bit.

Myself being a stats nut, this is just more for information than anything else.
With tomorrow's game vs Owen Sound on the horizon, I can't help but be impressed by their goaltending (and / or perhaps team defense ?).
Both Chenard and rookie Carter are both Top 5 in league GAA and Top 3 in SAV% at the moment.

Without the goaltending the Rangers have at the moment there really is nothing else to write home about. Another stat that should be mentioned is the fact Rangers are in 17th place league wise at this point in time.

Entering the season, the Rangers were slated as buyers/contenders while the Spirit were to sell in a rebuild mode.

That isn’t how those two teams looked the other night. Lennox was great. I really liked Bloom, Mintyukov and Mancini. (as players we could target)

The Rangers played a good defensive game but vs a team who are expected to rebuild, they should have been able to put up better numbers.

The Rangers defensive game was there and while Saginaw is a rebuild team, they have the 2nd highest goals scored in the OHL and were super aggressive especially on their PK. Lennox saved them in the 3rd when the Rehkopf Pinelli Mesar line had several chances but couldn't cash in. But for sure, the Rangers focus as a team was on defense. I'm interested to see how it translates on Tuesday against OS.

Well the paint didn't dry, the points were put up, and the team defense was solid. THIS is the Rangers team that was expected. WHAT. A. GAME! And without Valade and Swick in the lineup. When the team buys into the system, they are rewarded. New offensive setups were a joy to watch and the PP is improving as it settles in. Not just a game - but a statement. More please!

Quick puck movement goes a long way. They were able to clear their own end more effectively, passes were more crisp and accurate, and more scoring chances were created.

I think Mesar's linemates need to be more prepared though. He passes quick and hard. A few chances were missed because of this last night. But having scored 7 goals, and winning by such a margin, this shouldn't be anything to complain about. He had a nice goal last night himself.

Keep in mind that Votary doesn't have the stats that Chenard has. Would it have been a different game with him in net ? Should have that OS goal counted on the PK, and would the game have changed if it was good? Who knows. By the way, I'm not sure why it didn't count. Maybe the refs had a different angle on it.

Solid game by the Rangers against the Attack. With the exception of the two shorties on the penalty. They were relentless for the most part. Kept pressure on the Attack for 60 minutes. We watch games on the tube now after having season tickets for 20 years. You do miss all the little nuances one would see up close. Don't really hear the chirping and little nudges that get under players skins. Use to be able to tell a player by their skating stride. Also, you really can't judge the size of players unless you see them being interviewed between periods or after the game. Like everyone else I hope they can keep this style of play up going forward. Power play looked dangerous.

I was a the game, but to be fair, the Rangers new play by play guys are very, very pro Rangers. Same guys that ripped the Rangers fans for booing a Rangers player last year if I remember correctly? I miss Garry Doyle, way less loud and a bit more calm, measured, but hey, I'm old :)
