Today's 32 Thoughts article says that Shane Wright is getting less than 7 minutes a game with the Kraken. With Kingston bidding for the Mem Cup, maybe a big deal is coming at the deadline? Makes you think..
I'd love the idea of a trade to Kitchener...but I think the return would have to start with treading Rehkopf, which I wouldn't be comfortable with. I wonder if there's enough other assets to get it done.

Could be a 2 part trade.

Kingston trying to go all in next year especially with their mem cup bid.

Could have Wright come straight for picks and in the off season send them a package of Martin, Hamara or whatever in the off season.

I am not saying that's what gets it done but if it gets the Rangers a OHL championship this year, honestly they can have whoever they want next year lol.

Wright isn't going to make this team a contender.

I think the Rangers have to show they are in contention before going after one of the better forwards in the league. Kingston just might want to keep him. They are in a better position than the Rangers to contend at the moment. In 4th place in their conference. Pipe dreams aren't going to help unless the Rangers start putting up convincing wins together. I think it's been said it's better to wait and see what this team looks like at the end of November. Could end up in sell mode. Who knows? Good point Billyjack.

Yeah, somehow it feels like the little Dutch Boy plugging holes in the dike. He sees one hole so sticks his finger in it (enter Costantini). Then another leak appears so he plugs that one (enter Mesar), and then yet another (extra body required so acquire Scott)........He wonders why the problem isn't going away and is smart enough to know that he has only so many fingers and toes, so he just packs it in. Not the Hans Brinker version of the story, but you get the drift.

I apologize for being a bit facetious. There is still time to get on track, but things have to change pretty soon.

Little birdie said you are talking to Saginaw about a F and a D that they will not be expecting back next year. Saginaw will want picks and youth to go for it two years from now with MIsa as center piece

Regarding Kitchener considering a bid for the 2027 Memorial Cup tournament, Josh Brown:

"But the Rangers have two first-round draft picks next year and those players will be 19 years old and in the prime of their junior careers in 2027."

There's a part of my brain that comes up with this absolutely ridiculous thought of selling off the key pieces from today's team, getting a boatload of picks in the process, and proceed in tanking this season. A top five or so pick, plus #11 would go a long way. Surely scouting couldn't mess up those picks could they ? ;) .

A two part trade would have to include a much more significant player (an 04) the other way. Think top end players as was done in the Bracco / Stanley two parter.

Perhaps Wright to the Rangers for picks and a body or two at this deadline in a deal comparable to Bracco to Windsor. Then, in the off season, Brzustewicz off to Kingston for picks similar to Stanley to Kitchener.

All that being said, I don’t think we deal for Wright.

The birdie was an agent that specializes in European players….but then again I’m pretty sure you have your imports in place so pretty confusing
Bloom and Mintyukov. We send Hamara to Ottawa who I think has an import spot open and he’d accept that trade since he’s a Senators draft pick.
😉

Who knows…..we don’t have that many 03s to really go after…..as long as you have picks or are willing to give up some youth then it could probably happen.

The birdie said your GM wants to go for it but your record is the same as ours so what am I missing ? We will need to go 7-3 in the next 10 or the trades will start

The way the team is playing right now, I would abandon all thoughts of throwing away draft picks to get Wright over here.

When people talk about the Rangers, they say we have one of the top venues. The facilities here are similar to what the pros expect. Yet here we are at the bottom of the pack looking up at the rest of the conference. It's like we are in the twilight zone or the movie Ground Hog Day. At the very least fans should expect a hard working 60-minute team every year. Might not win a championship but at least fans paying the bills will go home happy with the effort they saw on the ice. I do believe some sort of change has to happen with this group going forward. They have to try something to shake things up.

I wouldn't hold by breath. We just got a new COO after Bienkowski retired. I agree the entire structure needs change.

At the very least they should give out free rose-coloured glasses like Bienkowski use to wear. Kidding. Nothings free anymore. One time they installed new glass that made the players on the ice look like they were in a house of mirrors. We complained about it. He was going to relocate everyone that complained in our section. I emailed him and asked him to watch a practice in our seats. At the meeting about relocation, he changed his mind and had the glass replaced after seeing how bad the view was for paying customers. At the very least that worked out.

Rehkopf will most likely be here for 2 more seasons after this one. Wright should and probably would be done and turn full time pro to start 2023-2024. So is giving up Rehkopf++ for 3/4 of a season of Wright is something I wouldn't do.
It entirely depends on which season you are going for a championship and what players you want to build around. Getting Mesar, Hamara and Brzustewicz all to report this season is a real windfall. Now if the returnees would live up to expectations.

Any deal for Wright would have to be a two way deal because anyone they’d want in return were going to need this year.

Personally, I’d past on Wright for this reason. As great a player as he is, you don’t need him to win. There will be other elite F’s made available at the deadline who’d fit the bill.

I don't want Wright. Price will be astronomical and one of the knocks on him has been compete level, which isn't what this team needs. Our skill isn't bad in a vaccuum, we need some physical and defensive guys who know and enjoy their role.

Just a fan thought, but if the Saginaw rumour has legs, I wonder if you ask Longacre if he'd report to Saginaw next year. Picks for whoever we're after this year, then trade Longacre for some of the picks back.

Agree on Wright. I listen to various podcasts. One out of Montreal. That was the book on Wright according to one scout. Often a no show vs tough teams but becomes opportunistic vs weak team to build stats. Quitting on the play sometimes, etc.

Add that to him likely being pissed at coming back to junior and I’m not going there.

Better to get something for Longacre than nothing I guess. I’m still holding out hope he’ll come here, but bridges may have been burned.

With those three reporting here this year, and the fact one, two, or three of them aren’t guaranteed to be here next year, along with the quality we have aging out this year and I'm thinking MM is all in this year.
