I wonder if anything can be done at this point, if I was MM I would be reaching out for any and all Hail Marys.

Combing the NCAA ranks a la Fantili, Junior B rights like a Jacob Julien, non reporting euros, heck check every local highscool. Gotta look under every rock.

I have never seen a team load up in 9th place, if somehow the team makes it past round two it would be a hell of a miracle run!

I don’t think I have ever wished Rangers Nation well but at this point it’s hard to watch, hopefully things do turn around.
Sorry GoKnightsGo44. We will do anything to keep the Knights from getting revenge for last year even to go so far as tanking!;)

The closest would be when Guelph loaded up the year they traded Merkley, but I believe they were at least in a playoff position (7th I think?)

Source has Wright to London for Bonk plus picks only if Hunters willing to part with Bonk. Other suiter is Barrie for Akey + Beauduin plus pics, Barrie really doesn't want to move Akey. Also said wouldn't be surprised if Wright doesn't move from Kingston.

Take it for what it's worth.

Was it Hamilton that had their team removed as host team for the memorial cup?
Yes. Hamilton traded for Morsheiser like ES said and Kitchener went with 16 year old Torchia who was outstanding.

I'm pretty sure that although teams did supplement their rosters somewhat in that era, there weren't anywhere near the blockbuster deals we see so many teams making today. Although that was the season Oshawa got Lindros from Soo because he refused to report.

Guelph moved Merkley very early. They just couldn't deal with his crap anymore. I'm not sure where they were when they dealt him, or when they made the deadline deals but they finished a strong 4th in the conference. Burnett made the deadline deals for Suzuki etc at the last minute after everyone else was basically done. Owen Sound waited too long to trade and Burnett got them on the cheap.

All the best to the Rangers. It’s fun when they are good

We traded OA Morschauser for 19 year old G-David Schill early in the season. But after the trade deadline, once Torchia officially unseated Schill as the #1, Schill walked out on the team and we were forced to use a JrB goalie, who wasn’t near OHL calibre, as the backup.

In fact Owen Sound moved Marcus Phillips 4 days earlier for 3 xseconds, 2x 3rd and a forth.

Guelph didn't have enough picks to make one blockbuster deal, they had to trade in picks to complete the deal.

So it was a two parter. It ended up 4 seconds, 4 thirds, 2 fourths, Poirier, Kirwan and Woolley, for Phillips, Suzuki, Durzi and Robert's.

Unfortunately Kirwin aged out due to covid .
Mark Woolley stayed 2.5 years as our captain .

Here's a tidbit to get your minds off the enigma that is the Kitchener Rangers.

Joey Hishon had a deal in place to play for the Rangers and had no intention to play in Owen Sound.

The Attack drafted him and went to work recruiting him .

Imagine if Joey ended up in blue, instead of red.
You know how the story ended .

Joey is , and always will be beloved in Owen Sound .

Never knew about that one! Learned about the John Carlson one last year. He talked about his experience on the Spittin Chicklets Podcast. Everything lined up in being drafted to Kitchener, and London snagged him one pick before.

Carlson had a sit down with PD, Spott and Adam Graves in NYC on that one. Done deal! Not!

That’s why the Rangers jumped on 19 year old John Moore in the second round in 09. Didn’t want to lose him the same way.

So far looking like the Zidlicky trade is just bad asset management. Shouldn't be selling low on him without a replacement lined up for the bottom 6; makes an already poor bottom 6 worse this year and makes our top 9 worse next year when he'll probably prove to be worth more than what we got.
If he had to move him, a veteran third liner that could help us this year should have been coming the other way. He wouldn’t have gotten us an expensive vet, but a better player than what we have as his replacement on the bottom six.

Here’s hoping now that a lot of team have blown their loads that the leftover depth vets might go for a little cheaper and MM can grab 1 to complete the 3rd line for cheap (well….what we can afford…lol)

I've noted in the past MM has a bit of a gambling streak in him with regard to a lot of the drafting and moves he's made, and it mostly paid of (value wise) in the past and at the time, but this year he seems to have seriously misplayed his cards.

He should be calling all remaining pretenders and see which one wants to join the arms race, because we're out of it.

Wright for Pugliese and Mercer. Even throw in the 4th and 5th we got for Zidlicky. Drop it at 11:58 am tomorrow. Don't give them time to think. 😁

Cmon..we can atleast throw in that 3rd we have and be nice.

Just to confirm I think we have 0 2nds and 1 3rd left to deal? Some 4ths and 5ths but those don’t get you a chair at the table.
