Ethan Miedema is an 05, and has similar numbers as Rehkopf. The difference is that the Rangers would never be able to give up a Rehkopf. However when you have lots of picks and reliable, consistent drafting (such as WC had mentioned) this is the type of deal you can pull off.
Poor drafting is a dagger. Poor development on top of it is an axe.

That seems like an underpayment - especially pick wise.
Agreed, if we threw Rehkopf, Longacre & better picks at the Fronts he might have been here ;) Curious how light this haul was vs Wright's WJC peer Zellweger (& OA Hofer) out West:
Drew Englot
Kaden Hamell
Rylan Pearce
Jack Bakker
4 X 1st Rnd. ’23, '24, '25 + '26
2 X 2nd Rnd. ’23 + ’26 Cond.
3rd Rnd. ’25
4th Rnd. ’23
5th Rnd. ’24
6th Rnd. ’26

They don’t call it the Wild West for nothing.

I think the Spits paid a fair price for a rental. Wright is a skilled asset but some of the other top OHL players were just as good or better. The western trade had some element of building a squad for the Mem Cup host. OHL doesn't allow first round picks traded. Look at Ottawa. Just picked up Mintyukov from Saginaw for 9 picks. Four 3rds.Three 2nds. Two 4ths. Huge haul.

Ottawa gives up 9 picks and still has their 2023 draft cupboard running smoothly.

At least London didn't get Wright which is blessing for Rangers with no more games left with Windsor.
London faces Windsor at least 5 times.

Will there be a full Rangers team this Friday against Oshawa? Martin yes, Pinelli hopefully, and Motew??

Old Farmer Hunter sucked the Rangers in twice. He is the ultimate horse trader. Ranger brass never looks a gift horse in the mouth.

Whenever the Rangers brass are looking at gift horse in the mouth they end up looking like the other end of the horse. ;)

Funny how that happens when you make a deal to finetune a team built smart and dont need to make deals to look respectable.

Not much left in Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard!

Swick, a 3rd and some 4ths for a solid 3rd liner border line 2nd liner. That’s my hope. Improve our 9th forward. And heaven forbid we have someone injured on D in the playoffs.

This fellow was traded from Hamilton to Sarnia. Drafted by the Rangers originally. Went for a 6th. Not a lot of points. Kind of like the bottom end of the Rangers only with size.

A lot of Sudbury picks in your cupboard: Can we supply some depth for your run?

Swick is the only guy we have in the bottom 6 with size and some physicality; you trade him for the right piece but not sure that piece is out there that you move him and our remaining picks for.

Swick may have size but I don’t see physicality. He is a pretty soft 6’6” 210lbs player. Although that might just have to do with the coaching style of “don’t touch anyone”.

When you look at the trades the top teams made Rangers should be running the other way. Can't see them competing with a bunch of these teams. Right now they are in the basement looking up at the rest of the league. Not sure how far MM is willing to go with his arm twisted behind his back. If he does completely clean out the crumbs not sure it will help. He is throwing Hail Mary's at this point in time. We have to believe in miracles.

and he's still our most physical bottom liner...I wouldn't call him soft, he's a little inconsistent, imo probably because he tends to take penalties when he plays physical (has trouble hitting guys sometimes without catching them high with his arms because he's so tall).

This is part of a query about this fellow in response to a question asked about Anderson on Hamilton thread: His main attribute is his size and he uses it. He’s physical and stands up for teammates. Not a dirty player by any means. His size does attract attention from opponents and he does drop the gloves. Although he takes them as they come, he doesn’t really go around looking to fight.

Larmand and Anania with our 3rd and two 4ths for Swick, Andonovski and we give you back your 3rd in 23?? Or something like this…we would give up grit and solid experienced players for your run for futures…both our guys could return as OA
