Well, now you're just getting nasty... :(
Dale did say he was well liked at the Aud back when he was putting the biscuit in the basket for us Ranger fans. Dmead you might be too young to know he was a Ranger. ;) If you look closely when he is on the opposition bench in the old barn here he does have a tear in one eye and a twinkle in the other.:)

Pinelli was unreal yesterday. Led by example and the rest of the team followed!

We got a series!
If Pinelli is going the team follows. The kid turned into one hell of a leader. Mike Richards had that in his blood only to a higher degree.

OHL trade window opens today thru Thursday lieu of the upcoming draft Friday. Picks only. Rangers are looking at a skinny forward named Slim Pickings. o_O
I don’t expect the Rangers to be able to make any moves that would improve their draft stock for this draft.

Historically, you have to give up multiple distant picks to acquire less distant picks.

For example:
To acquire a 2nd for this draft, we’d have to give up a distant 2nd and a 3rd.
To acquire a 3rd for this draft, we’d have to give up a distant 3rd plus a 4th.

The problem is that we have no moveable distant 2nds or 3rds. So unless we are able to talk some team into taking, say for example, a 4th in ‘23 along with a couple distant fourths for a ‘23 3rd, or have some cooked up deal where we’d get a high pick or two in this draft for peanuts then afterwards, a body is moved back for peanuts, then we’ll be standing pat this week.

Unfortunately.

Further on the draft, various mock drafts have us taking Henry B with one of our 1sts.

All due respect, but as the 8th ranked American D-man in his age group, should we be using a 1st on him?

I understand that he’s talked of as being interested in the Rangers and no doubt a big part of that interest is that brother Hunter is here already.

But if we’re selling next year, Hunter will be the top 04 slated to be moved. If we weren’t going into sell mode, I’d get it.

Also not lost on me is the fact MM has displayed in the past that he won’t draft family if a better option is in front of him. Many had us taking 1st round ranked Luca Pinelli in the 1st round in 2021 but MM had who he saw as a better player in mind (Rehkopf).

I doubt he jumps on Henry B earlier than he should because Hunter is a Ranger.

Ranger fans have to hope some of last years draft picks are able to step in this coming season. The two first round picks should be talented enough to make the squad. Probably have to bring in some extra free agents into the camp in the fall and try and mine a couple of diamonds in the rough. Personally I don't like seeing a team trade away their newly NHL drafted roster players. They may have no choice going forward to fill the gaps in the cupboard. It will be a challenge for MM and the staff. Making a silk purse out of a sows ear. STH pay a decent amount of money for tickets. This past regular season was a rough one to sit through I imagine. Next year could be worse in a rebuild. I hope they pick up a couple of talented kids in this draft. Not a lot of Dmen ranked in the first so it will be interesting.

All due respect Even, American players are often underrated on free draft lists because the people who make them have minimal access to their games. Henry B is pretty highly touted. Every year (same with NHL draft) people get attached to names they've read on amateur lists and are disappointed when guys they haven't seen but have heard of aren't taken with their picks. If they take him, it's most likely because they think that highly of him. MM had enough time to scout these guys before he took over as HC. If he thinks he's that good, I'm fine with it, but if it doesn't pan out that'll be a mark against him.

Elite Hockey Prospects that had their list out April 8 /23 Had Henry Brzustewicz ranked 10 th.
Top player on the list Matthew Schaefer (D) 2nd. Brady Martin (F) 3rd. Ryan Roobroeck (F)

Be nice for someone to post a prospect tracker. Josh Brown used to once in a while in the past.

If I was Saggy I would have tried very hard to get future 2nds and 3rds to trade to bolster the team for the Memorial Cup. But thanks 😄

That might be the pick that lands us Henry Brzustuwicz.
Saginaw has another 2nd in ‘23. Perhaps we send our fourth in ‘23 and a couple more distant 4ths for that 2nd.

That would give us 1st x 2, 2nd x 2 and a 3rd to build for that ‘27 Memorial Cup bid.

;)

2-1sts, 2nd, 3rd, 2-4ths, import are more than enough early picks for one year?

Maybe the most disappointing Ranger prospect in my lifetime.

“Once I got to pro, the whole grind, lifestyle and politics just turned me off,” Marcantuoni told The Record in 2018. “You’re just a piece of meat. It got to a point where I got so tired of feeling like I was luggage.”

I Just thought this was a hilarious quote in the context of him going on The Bachelor In Paradise.

Hey, I’m greedy!

After yesterday’s trade, we have two 1sts, 2nd, 3rd and a 4th.

Sure that’s a good start. But my suggestion, tongue in cheek as it was, of turning that 4th into a 2nd, obviously would put us in a little better position.

With those 5 picks I’d use one to take the best goalie on the board to go with a couple F’s and D’s.

IMO, any import we take in that draft this year won’t be around in 26-27. You usually get a couple years out of an import.

I remember seeing him for the first time in the spring rookie camp. Came away wowed by his speed. He was the best player in the ice.

Unfortunately he didn’t have the hands to match his speed. Concussion issues didn’t help either.

he was a 2 way monster at the U17s as captain, but that side of his game completely disapeared after first injury.

Matia's luck/durability was disappointing but he certainly had the goods. IMO, more disappointing as top prospects were perhaps each of our next 3 1st rounders' ... and a long list of prospects that never reported.

After a couple nagging shoulder injuries early on then major surgery in his shortened second year here, he didn't seem have the same shot anymore and multiple concussions, ankle issues, broken fingers, etc. dogged him further and that luck only continued in his AHL/ECHL career. Felt bad for him, like Luke Opilka.
