I think it's better than last year's, TBH, and somewhat balanced. Of course, it relies a bit on bounce-back performances from Gallagher and Drouin for the Dvorak line, but that's not impossible in the least, IMO.

The D is a different matter. If, somehow, Montreal could get Shattenkirk, who has become the third pairing RHD after ANA just signed Klingberg, it would settle that D-Corps down into a better seating arrangement on the depth chart.

Shattenkirk would also provide a special teams veteran for the PP and the PK.

Matheson - Shattenkirk
Edmundson - Barron
Harris - Savard

Without being close to elite, this D-Corps it would at least be serviceable for the Habs and would have puck-movement on all pairings, with a veteran to mentor a youngster throughout.

Anderson - Suzuki - Caufield
Drouin - Dvorak - Gallagher
Slafkovsky - Dach - Dadonov
Hoffman/Pitlick - Evans - Armia/Pitlick
Pitlick, Hoffman, Armia

Matheson - Shattenkirk
Edmundson - Barron
Harris - Savard

Price?
Allen
Montembeault

Unfortunately, I think that this lineup would not be in the running for America's next top model, Connor Bedard.
how do you plan to fit in Shattenkirk we cant even sign Dach without moving a contract

See Chipchura.

But I loved McNeill. But he was never able to improve his agility. And at one point, there are things you just can't predict. But he was a really good prospect that everybody would have taken a chance on. Nobody will make me say that he was a bad pick. He just didn't develop.
He was crafty and a pretty good passer at the junior level, I'll give him that. That said, his offensive upside was pretty darn limited at best and like I said, drafting a guy in the first round to be your defensive center of the future always seems dumb to me. I'd rather take a wild swing on a raw guy with some homerun potential.

I understand where you're coming from. However, at this stage of his career, is Shatenkirk even a better option than Wideman?

The skillset of Dach is truly impressive. Can't wait to see him shine under MSL!

That is a great defensive play that leads to a scoring chance and resulted in drawing a penalty.

Dach perfectly used his length and reach to strip the puck from the Bruin. And then once he gets the puck, he uses the space to counter attack.

Hâte de voir la signature de Dach je pense qu'il faut s'attendre a 2 ans et autour de 2 M par saison mais d'ici là apprendrons nous que Byron ou autre ne pourra commencer la saison ou est ce qu'un joueur sera échangé.
Yep Dach isn't worth more than that until he proves something. Bridge deals were made for this scenario.
Ideally Kent would get rid of one more contract soon.

It all started with.... Rafael Diaz!

That's pretty good. Habs lost Danault and Romanov, but right now they have a 3rd overall pick in 2019, 6"4, 21 years old, high potential with Kirby Dach.

Everyone talk about Slafkovsky, Suzuki and Caufield... but Dach is a pretty great young player aswell and very talented. This guy will surprise people and we are going to like his skillset for sure. He can be a special player with right development.

Habs should convert him to the wing at leadt for next season. He barely wins face-offs, he's just 1/3 win rate, and will not get some good offensive linemates. Play him with Caufield and Suzuki. Let him shine offensively, which would also allow slaf to not be rushed and play in the AHL.

That's what camp is for. Try him at center. Try him at wing. Try him with some different guys and see what fits best.

You don't yo-yo him all of camp. Because at some point you have to start setting your roster for opening night.

But you can still use part of camp to try some different things.

According to some rumour..I'd be ok with that tbh!

''An anonymous NHL general manager reportedly told blogger Jimmy Murphy that the next contract for Kirby Dach, the Habs' new center, would be around $1.7 million a year for two years"

Just leave him on the wing. Let him develop his offensive potential. No need to try him out everywhere.

He's a center. So it's only logical you play him at center You can try him on the wing at some point. His face-off numbers may not be good, but a center does more than just take face-offs.

Not to mention, Habs have too many wingers as is right now without having to worry about moving Dach there,

I don’t know if it means anything or if Dach was quoted out of context but there was a tweet in this thread where Dach said he’d only play center. Isn’t that a coach’s determination?

I didn't see that. But he did play wing in Chicago at times.
I misremembered the tweet. It was in reference to a presser he did last March where a Twitter user claims that Dach is not fond of playing wing.

I watched the clip in support of that tweet and didn’t get as strong an impression that he didn’t like it.

Do-able for sure.........

But we’re tanking so it’s the perfect season to force him to work on his faceoffs and take as many as possible.

He's not a winger! lol
Most young centers are poor at Face-offs, look at Suzuki...
