I think that HuGo might believe Dach will fix the KK mistake. He still has a lot of development to do, but it's almost as if they picked up right were Bergy screwed up and the whole offer sheet fiasco. If the wrist injury is truly past him, I think his offensive upside is higher than KK, they also have similar size but Dach is a muuuch better skater.

Just a couple years ago, we were very happy with a Suzuki - KK duo down the middle for years to come. Hopefully Dach can replace him in addition of having Slaf as a potential monster in the top 6.

Yeah that 26 point campaign is really showing a player who is trending in the right direction.

Folks criticized Wright for 94 points in 63 games while Dach had 73 points in 62 games in his draft year...not necessarily dominant.
He has not improved.
It's useless to talk about it , new toy = it's always perfect. Even if you ask hawks fans they have him as third liner center that btw says the hawks fans hes awful at taking faceoffs.

Some will say MSL is the next Scotty bowman and can transform everything into superstar.

Unless he takes a full 180degree turn I don't see him in a top 6 at all meanwhile Romamov is heading to be a 3-4th defensive dman with good skating hitting like a train who's only 22.

my dad loves the hawks and couldn’t care less to see him go. He’s upset about debrincat. Only guy that showed up last year according to him.

Recall that Josh Anderson came to us with significant injury history that affected his form and performance and went on to excel with us, it stands to reason that Dach could follow a similar trajectory...under a much better management (as regards to player development) than under the MB regime.

Josh is excelling with us ? On pace for 39 points/season since he's a Habs...

All this this talk about whether dach is a 3rd liner, or something more. This is pretty much the talk about Lars Eller when the Habs traded for him.

Not that I minded lars' game by any stretch, but let's hope this one falls into more a of a top 6 product.

that is actually a good comparison. Not the player but the expectation coming here.

The forward group could hypothetically be somewhat good, but the defense is absolutely terrible, hot garbage. And if Price misses a lot of time, we're looking at another top 5 pick (which I wouldn't mind tbh)

I understand, but the post was regarding the forward group though

Yeah that's why I said hypothetically... Not a lot of proven players there. We don't know what to expect from CC yet, Dach, Slaf, Drouin, I highly doubt Dvo scores 40+ points, etc. I don't expect much offensively, although I hope that all of Slaf (if he stays in Mtl), CC, NS and KD can score nice totals. Still far from a playoff contender lineup IMO

They're definitely planning for Dach to be basically what Kotkaniemi should have been, i.e. the big 2nd line center behind Suzuki. While I was thinking they were gonna go for Wright to have that Suzuki-Wright 1-2 punch, getting Slafkovsky AND Dach and only losing Romanov seems like a stroke of genius. Romanov can be replaced from within easily with the studs we have on D. Dach fills in for Kotkaniemi and we add Slaf on the wing.

Potential top-6 up front: Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach, Ylonen, Roy, Farrell, Mesar
3rd line: Poehling, Evans, Kidney, Beck, Mysak, Heineman, Harvey-Pinard, Tuch, Kapanen

Potential Top-4 D : Guhle, Mailloux, Barron, Harris, Xhekaj, Norlinder, Hutson, Struble

That's a lot of depth. We're bound to hit on a few of those prospects. The future looks bright

If Dach doesn't become more than he is, it won't be exciting and the trade will probably be a wash. But if he develops some of his enormous potential, he'll fill a more valuable role on our roster than Romanov ever could.
I mean the first 3 years should be a red alert. That's why i hate the trade

Yeah I agree with this. We all kind of hoped he would turn into the type of player he was on the WJC, and yeah, he's still young yet, but there hasn't been any sort of indication that he's got a super productive offensive side to his game.

I'm not sold on Dach either by any means. But I can understand why they picked Romanov to be the one to trade with the other guys we have.
Not only has he been unproductive offensively, I can't remember ANY offense coming from him. Not even a flash here or there. Wonder what LL saw to offer up #13, hard to see him being a difference maker.

I don't think HuGo is done by a long shot. Byron looks like he's retiring, one of Hoffman / Drouin are gone - if not both.
I love having Anderson and slafkovsky in the top 6. Can't remember the last time we had two legit, 6'4 PF on top two lines.

Dach is a gamble but i see him at worst, as a kind of Dvorak and 5 years younger (so a 45 pt , 3rd line C).
When we're bad next year, perhaps we find that 2C in the draft

I think it's a fair bet, to bet on Dach reaching his potential more than Romanov will.

We traded a top 4 dman for a potential 35 points player. Wow exciting

I hate this narrative

We traded Romanov for a 13th overall pick
We traded that 13th overall pick for Dach

We could have done many different thing once we had that pick in hand.

We practically paid double than what we paid for Dvorak (and I thought this was an overpayment) considering the value of the 13th overall.....I sure as hell hope Dach will be better, a lot better than Dvorak.

This trade won't be a wash if Dach doesn't improve, hell...it will be a wash if Dach produce 60 points per season.

Suzuki is a 13th overall, Caufield is a 15th overall, Guhle is a 16th overall.
Ottawa got a legit 40 goals scorer for the 7th overall pick and we got a project with the 13th overall......I expect nothing less than a solid 2nd line center in return

Eller was a 28 point guy here and fans loved him, felt he had solid 2C numbers. Even in Wash he is a 35 point guy. Hard to believe that Dach can't have the same impact.

If Dach has a bad year his stock will plummet and will be maybe worth a 3rd. 50/50 chance of this.

Whereas taking any of the great prospects with 13 would have had 3 years where is they played average, they still would be worth something. Just like Dach was.
