I know it's only preseason but his faceoffs seem to have improved significantly. Feel like he's the player that should get the primary focus for development this season up front. His development can essentially determine the organization's future (either they are set at C or still have a glaring hole).

lmao yeah, the guy who overcame a major wrist injury should be punching at Logan Stanley.

Xhekaj was on the ice and didn't do anything, maybe direct it somewhere else?

He was physical and engaged all night. He's not soft at all, lmao.

Plus he clearly wanted to draw a penalty so the team could come back. That was a veteran disciplined play right here IMO and very calculated

You can tell he likes to carry the puck a lot and make most of the zone entries himself . Finding linemates that can work well with his style will really be key in getting the most out of him. Playing with a guy who can take the left side faceoffs would probably be a plus as well, so Pitlick is a good idea. With Gally on their right maybe ? He doesn't need the puck on his stick much to do his thing.

As a fan of Ted Lasso, I can wait for the season to start…

can Monahan play the wing?

Barring injury he'll have to. Its generally a lot easier for a centre to move to wing than vice versa, and it will probably be good for him to have fewer responsibilities now that he isn't physically what he use to be. Having him on an offensive line with Dach where he can help on draws seems like a good spot for him.

Dach vs Dubois ofz faceoff.

Dach wins cleanly pass to Guhle, cover his spot as Guhle shoot from the faceoff circle and scores.

*chef kiss*

PLD has proven he can be a 60pts player but Dach upside is there for sure and last night both were pretty even, imo.
And a lot cheaper.

Dach certainly has the talent to turn into a 50-60 point centreman. If he does, we will have Suzuki and Dach duo who are both under the age of 24....which would be amazing for this team.

I don't see Dach as a big time goal scorer, but definitely someone who can put up 40 assists a year.

The shot release from KK is cancelling any advantage on Dach.

KK’s shot release is abysmal.
The most frustrating thing about KK other than him falling all the time was him shooting. It would take him forever to get a shot off and other teams would have a chance to get their stick in. He pulled it back and always held it there for literally 1 second

He does have a bit of the Wendall Clark thing back in the day where he has to really put his entire body in his shot.

Yeah pretty similar players (upside) in my mind. Hopefully Dach gets there. I think he will, we got some good wingers coming up with Caufield, Heineman, Slaf, etc.

Expect ~20 goals. He will score around the net, off dekes and tip-ins. Very few of his goals will come from distance.

I know it's a small sample size but watching him play this preseason I have been impressed with his vision, ability to keep the puck until he finds a play, his skating.
He resembles a young player with a huge upside, perhaps higher than Suzuki.
Remember Suzuki is a 2017 pick whereas Dach was drafted 2 years later.

He reminds me a lot of Ryan Johansen. A lot actually. The way he likes to command the puck, his shiftiness and his desire to attack the middle of the ice. They even have the same calmness with the puck (sometimes, a little too calm).

Suzuki, a developed Dach, and Dvorak isn't so bad of a centre lineup (and there is Beck with potential to be a well rounded middle 6 centreman).

Will be interesting to try to find the right linemates for him, both now with what we have, and in the future with our prospects and who we draft, trade for, etc... Joshua Roy might be able to finish the plays he creates.

can Monahan play the wing?

Yes, and I hope he does. He's more of a goal scorer than a play driver, apparently. And he's slowed down, so I would think that will affect his 200 foot game.
