Agreed. Before I was a prof, I worked as a software engineer under various guises. We used to operate under the assumption that there are still bugs in a program until it runs bug-free for several months. That is how a serious injury like this should be viewed in my opinion.

Whether that opinion gets derided or not is immaterial to me. I don't get baited into silly arguments, in a Twainian sense.

Whether people like it or not, that's the way it is. It's a lesson that reality teaches to you, usually the hard way.

Kirby to the scrubs who weren’t able to burry his incredible passes on the PP and 5vs3 tonight

Last night he prove that he is at least a very very good 3C. But yeah, i'm really confident that he is going to be a solid top 6 C... he have good two-way game, good protection of puck, great hands, great passing ability, need to shoot more, but he have everything else to become a solid C behind Nick Suzuki.

Agree... last night, he pass like Ryan Getzlaf lol. He is really really talented player, happy to have him.
There was this beautiful pass he made in the neutral zone that sent Slaf and Hoffman on a two on one. He saw the play developing before he received the puck and made such a tight angle pass. It was beautiful

Finally, have the big talented centre that we were always drooling for.

Get this feeling that he will break out this season, provided that he stays healthy.

With Suzuki and Dach down the middle, I believe the centre position issues seem to have been resolved for the foreseeable future.

He really has some Getzlaf vibes.

What the hell Chicago was thinking?
RyJo/Getzlaf mix. Not sure if he ever reaches that production, but his style is very similar is terms of being shifty and getting passes through traffic and from weird angles.

I like how he doesn't hestiate on the PP for a pass. It's already off his stick when he gets the puck. No waiting statically looking for a lane.

Yes, he won't have Getzlaf production who was a top 5 C in his prime but he can become a solid #2 behind Suzuki and he bring an other dimension

Chicago never thought that a healing wrist might be the problem lol?
And that young C will improve on FO with experience

50 % yesterday on FO

His face-off doesn't look to be a problem in the preseason

The key with development is identifying the flaws and working hard at addressing them. He is clearly aware of the areas he needs to mature at.

I like what I see so far with Dach. We could have a steal here. Love Romanov but Suzuki/Dach is very solid.

Imagine if our top 2 centers are acquired through trade and both are considered 1C types in their prime? Suzuki turning into who the turned into after the trade and then Dach round 2.. Imagine

Biggest piece missing is a puck moving D man. Is that Hutson? Could be... that kid can skate and has offensive glare

“How do we tank for the next 5-years while trying to get spending down to cap floor”

They are clearly looking to see if they can hit with another Toews/Kane draft picks. Problem is they might have traded their Toews.

It just seemed that their GM decided to go full HFBoards 24 hours before the draft.

Blackhawks "Tank" is about to crash

I just hope he can shoot more so he can be even more dangerous as a playmaker

The people acting like this trade wasn't good were pretty funny. We got this guy for a defenseman who is neither good offensively or defensively. Dach has that very rare ability that almost all high production playmakers have where their passes get through traffic cleanly when it always looks like it shouldn't be able to. Habs haven't had a guy like that since Markov. Even Suzuki, while a good playmaker, doesn't really do it with regularity.

You rarely have the chance to trade for that type of player for sure (Ask Bergy !)

I want to see how he looks when our roster is complete. If he is passing more than shooting but his wingers are putting it in the back of the net, I'll be totally fine with it.

I do like players who are not afraid to shoot though. Totally agree with what you are saying in terms of being deceptive. Lets look at Suzuki's shot progression over the last 3 seasons...

19/20:
* 138 shots in 71 games (age 20)
* 1.94 shots/game

20/21:
* 110 shots in 56 games (age 21)
* 1.96 shots/game

21/22:
* 186 shots in 82 games (age 22)
* 2.27 shots/game

He's also an automatic (at least based on a very limited sample, which probably isn't prudent to read into too much) on zone entries.

I've also been surprised by his puck retrievals and board play...2 things I understood were areas he struggled with.

Really pumped for this kid. He impressed me a lot last night. Hands, vision, skating. Only thing to be desired is probably his shot but if he can be a 20G guy feeding guys like Caufield or Slaf or 2023 1st he’ll be just fine.

His board play last night was fantastic. I saw him hold off 3 leafs down low on the forcheck.

Chicago management failed big time at the last draft. First of all, you never trade a (extra size) 6ft4 forward until 24 years old. Those guys with high ceiling are getting better and better within the years. Look at Tage Thompson, he exploded at 24 years old. I think Chicago wanted to draft so much, than they forgot they had a raw jewel between theirs hands in Dach. Their GM doesnt have a lot of experience if I recall.

At this point he really looks like the Habs 3rd best forward. What is annoying for line planning is that, barring Caufield and hopefully Slafkovski, the best forwards are all Cs

While stinky yesterday, Dvorak is still confortably the 4 best forward. Then you have Monahan who looked pretty decent against the Leafs while Evans is also superior to most wingers

At least one C should be sent to wing to consolidate the top 9. I'd try Dvorak on Suzuki's or Dach's wing. It would also be nice if he could get going offensively on a consistent basis in case a nice trade offer appears

I'd try to minimize the presence of guys like Hoffman, Gallagher, Dadonov or Drouin on the top 6 as much as possible
