Sure but I think people are going way too deep into this, do we even have the full diagnosis and prognosis of his injury?
He played a full year since his injury and doubts have not been erased. I think that’s pretty much enough to warrant caution. I’m not saying his career is ruined, just that this situation needs to be monitored for the moment

I really hope this guy pans out. He's clearly talented as hell and moves really good but that wrist injury concerns me and the lack of willingness to be engaged physically at 6'4 has got to change.
I wouldn’t worry about a lack of engagement physically considering he’s not played opponents yet.

They're not erased on this thread because that's all people decided to talk about. He never said himself that he had problems with his wrist still.

I think we will all end up just not liking him. Too soft and will leave us wanting more all the time. Rootingforhim but my expectations are low

I think we'll see a bunch of people mad that he doesn't blow people up with his size and will try to pretend that you can't defend without being physical.

Which will lead to unwarranted bashing despite the fact he's going to put up great numbers offensively because a player of his size, skating, hands, patience and ability is going to find a way to be a productive NHLer.

Yeah I'm just saying if he struggles offensively people will just use the size against him

People who didn't like the trade will be against him the entire time anyway. This board is incapable of moving off their initial reactions to anything.
People are also incapable of giving a fair chance to players. It's not like he has to score 60+ this year anyway, we're aiming for Bedard. All I ask for though is improvement, and I expect he will improve under MSL and with a role better suited to his skillset/experience.

People would rather argue they’re right than accept evidence that disproves their beliefs. It’s an inexhaustible source of material for the forum.

People should be happy if his face-off percentage gets into the 40% area and that he's scoring anywhere in the 40 pt range. It would be an improvement and a sign he's growing and developing.

He probably didn’t punch hard enough for those people haha.
Yes because a soft player has never gotten in a fight before.

Again, I don't know why you are pretending like there hasn't been a concern with his lack of wanting to be physically engaged. The guy is far from perfect, he's got some intriguing tools, and based on what he has shown (or not shown) in his NHL career so far, people have the right to be skeptical. No that doesn't make him a guaranteed bust, but I don't understand why you'd laugh at someone who brings up valid concerns that have been expressed relentlessly from the fanbase of the team that drafted him (even before the trade) and reporters and scouts.

Personally, I'm chalking it up to the complete gong show that was Chicago last year with everything on and off the ice occurring making Dach not as engaged as he normally is. But I'm not gonna completely ignore what I've seen and read lately.

Yeah I think he plays soft for 6'4 , has nothing to do with fighting lol. We will see. I'm a fan of the trade considering his age. Kinda cringe how you all went circle jerk mode when the guy is KNOWN to be soft, just saying

There's a gulf of difference between doesn't use his body enough defensively/offensively and being soft.

Kirby Dach was targeted with dirty hits, slashes and everything you could do to a star player in the WHL during the play-offs and all he did was continue to drive inside, make plays and lead his team as far as he could.

He's not soft at all.. his physical implication needs improvement.

Dach's sample size in the NHL is very limited. He had a good rookie year, a truncated year where he did well including being very good in the bubble playoffs then a so-so year on a train wreck team. Extrapolating what he will be with the Habs before he plays a single game is disingenuous....face-offs, physicality, scoring, etc...all speculation. Before we start demanding a trade how about we give him a 10 game tryout to confirm that this boards assumptions are true!

He’s not overly physical, he’s more of a cerebral IQ player and he’ll have to use his body and frame a little more but he is not a ‘’soft’’ player, that was my point.

I have been quite impressed with Dach's combination of size, speed and skill so far. He's was able to create separation for himself and good speed through the neutral zone in the scrimmages that I watched. It's a far cry from the player that I saw Makar danced around in that overtime period last year. But I suspect that Makar can do that to more than a few NHLers. I'll continue watching but the early reviews are most encouraging.
