Completely disagree, especially about the comments on this thread, that's just a complete fabrication. Just look at how people were talking about him from January 2023 onwards. People were calling him a force, a beast, etc. Guy was developing very, very well here until a serious injury.

This is terribly revisionist and absolutely false.
I was being very sarcastic. I thought I was being obvious. My bad lol

He was awesome in the 2nd period but did dick all in the 3rd again. He doesn't want it enough. Maybe he's too timid with his injury and is scared of getting injured again, but he won't have a long NHL career if he keeps playing this way.
Wasn't in the 3rd period where he charged at a guy and went for a big hit? Doesn't sound like a guy who's scared to me.

I thought he was very soft along the boards on one of Detroit's first period goals even though Hutson was the one who bobbled the puck initially.
This team will be much better when we can bail each other out. We've seen mistakes leading to more mistakes all season long for the most part.

one awesome period out of 3 is way more than we were getting 20 games ago. if in another 20 we can count on 2/3, that wouldn't be so bad. The process sure isn't fun to watch, though and he's gonna really need to pump up the faceoff #s to at least the 40% mark to justify his role. I'm also hoping management gives him some strict dietary advice for the holidays :sarcasm:

Very good observation. I don't think it's an unwillingness though, I find it's a lack of experience. They just don't make the reads yet.

Last three games habs have outscore their opponents 15 to 5
Dachs stat line those three games.
0g 0a -3 and 33% in the dot. Complete garbage.
I honestly don't think he played badly at all today. He has been super disappointing don't get me wrong but i thought he was decent. However the penalties really need to stop.

Penalties need to stop, but the battle along the board is a good sign. But I hope Marty plays Evans with laine, Kirby and laine don't have chemistry on the 5v5, and the ideal game is Kirby carry the puck then laine shoot happily, but now, the line is like, dmen pass the puck to laine who lost it or mishandled it, then Kirby or Newhook battle for it along the board.

He was again our worst forward. It’s an ongoing trend.
He needs to be way better don't get me wrong. I did think that his overall compete and effort tonight was much better/noticeable than it has been. Did he play a good game, not really but I also don't think he was bad (The penalty was awful, not defending that).

I'm losing complete faith in him, i get that his "still" young and he was hurt but he'll be 24 in a few weeks, and that's the age where he should be approaching his ceiling. For a lot (if not most) players mid-20s is the height of your career statistically.

No one cares
He has a blazing hot shooter on his line and tell me, during Laine's time with him, how many good passes has Dach delivered to him that led to a scoring chance?

All I see is Dach and Newhook in no man's land out there and Laine trying his best to play with them. We all know how many scoring chances PL would have had with Suzuki or even Evans for that matter.

The experiment needs to end, you can't just have a sniper playing with a center that never gets him the puck.

I'm not sure you can really justify breaking up either of the bottom six lines as they are giving us really good hockey and the team is winning more then ever.

Kind of sucks for Laine but keep in mind they've also been a bit unlucky 5 on 5, they have generated a number of quality chances that just haven't gone in. So I'd definetly give them more time as there has been progress and there's no urgency to shake things up beyond it kind of sucks for Laine to be with two very cold players.

It's fine now because we are beating up crap teams, but once the schedule gets harder, that line is going to be exposed badly.
