So I know some people aren’t completely sold on him.

Genuinely asking cuz I didn’t watch a ton last year, what’s stopping him from being a high end C?
A biiit more staying healthy (tho we asked a ton out of him when all the injuries hit, was only a matter of time it would catch up to him, but if the season wasnt 'lost' he probably plays more games honestly)

And a LOT more "decent top 6 wingers" to put next to him
You know, like, anyone BUT Mike Hoffman and Drouin.
He will be getting at least 1 of either Newhook, RHP, or Slaf, so that's something to look forward to, hell they can give him Monahan too, all good options

The easy thing to bring up would be Face offs obviously, but I just can't kill him for it too much, it remains a 50/50 play everytime anyway, so we live with it.
I'd be waaaay more concerned about defensive woes, but he's just so God damn smart
It will become a cheat code having this guy as 2C honestly, and at any given time, poof! he's 1st line RW, with results that already back it up

Sigh.. I could go on and on why I love this guy lol, so happy to have him god

Dach reached a point after the 20 game mark where he was creating multiple scoring chances a game and doing so in multiple ways.

Health and his shot are the only things preventing him from being a high end C.

He literally took command of shifts in the offensive zone last season in a way that did not seem like a fluke.

Dach improved his zone entry into the O-zone last season, compared to when he was in CHI. He battles well for the puck, is a good playmaker and has a good shot which he just doesn't use enough. Sucks in the F/O circle.

Good puck possession Center who distributes the puck well. Maybe a better puck-possession winger who distributes the puck well.

Either way, he's good.

His board play is everything. I hope Slaf develops his in the same fashion. Could legit spend multiple 2 min. shifts deep in the o zone every game with two skilled towers like that.

Personally, I keep Dach at RW on the Suzuki line...

...For the PP's first wave.

Honestly don't know which wingers will play with Dach this season. It could easily be RHP and Anderson, for all we know, with a more experienced Monahan at C with Slafkovsky and Newhook.

The only problem we then have is no winger to compete the line of Caufield - Suzuki - ???

Caufield - Suzuki -
RHP - Dach - Anderson
Slafkovsky - Monahan - Newhook
Armia- Dvorak -Gallagher

Evans, Ylonen, Pezzetta

If Roy could make the roisterous of training camp, Montreal could serif there is chemistry between Caufield, Suzuki and Newhook and start him on the line:

Caufield - Suzuki - Newhook
RHP - Dach - Anderson
Slafkovsky - Monahan - Roy
Armia- Dvorak -Gallagher

Evans, Ylonen, Pezzetta

If not, Newhook could play C on a kid third line and Monahan could play with Caufield and Suzuki:

Monahan - Suzuki - Caufield
RHP - Dach - Anderson
Slafkovsky - Newhook - Roy
Armia- Dvorak -Gallagher

Evans, Ylonen, Pezzetta

If Kirby stays healthy this year I expect a 60 point season. The raw skills were on display last season. I still can't believe Chicago gave up on him that quickly
60 points for Dach, on a line where he is C and not the RW alongside Caufield and Suzuki, will be difficult, I think. He'll need wingers with a lot of points to rack up 60 points.

Who can that be? Realistically...

Monahan, maybe, but then Newhook should stay on the third line as C.

It's going to be Armia lol

He's the guy that makes the most sense of all the RW we have.

Was the play of the year by a Habs forward for me honestly
That whole sequence is the stuff dreams are made of, add to it a 6"4 215 frame with speed and that's how you go 3rd overall

Still can't believe he's ours
I would suggest Suzuki's shorthanded one hander would win goal and play of the year. Stripping a puck and making a pass don't compare to creating a turnover chasing a puck and player down from behind making a stealth one handed stab from behind causing both the Dman and the Goaltender to look bad.

I don't think this is even close.

I think 50 point season incoming for him.

That would be dissapointing unless he misses a good chunk of time due to injury.

He was at nearly a 60pt pace last year, @21 - on a new team already not a playoff contender that deadly with major injury rash to both top 6 & top 4.

Anything short of a 60+ point pace would be a step backwards. Healthy, he's going to push 70+ if he has a "good" year

He looked dominant at times last season. When he plays with an edge he is a handful. What's stopping him from becoming a top end C? Time and experience.
I think it's linemates. By the time Dach got to play center, the team was decimated with injuries. I can see Newhook being his winger to see if they can develop the Suzuki/Caufield chemistry to shore up the 2nd line. Maybe even Slaf if he shows well in camp.

Dach outplayed Suzuki in the 2nd half of the season and was downright dominate most games. If he can have quality wingers to pass to and create space, I think Dach could be the no. 1 center on the Habs.

I agree with you, I think they should try Newhook and Dach together to start the season.

Slafkovski-Suzuki-Caufield
Newhook-Dach-Anderson
RHP-Monahan-Gallagher
Evans-Dvorak-Ylonen
Pezzetta/Armia

There was a point where he looked at good as Suzuki, if not better. If he can maintain that this coming season we'd be cooking.

If we can have the following production next season without them being dummied at ES, I'd be thrilled:
Suzuki ~70 points
Caufield 60-65 points
Dach ~60 points

Rest:
Newhook ~40-45 points
Anderson ~ 25 goals/45 points/healthy
Gallagher ~25 goals/40 points/healthy
Slafkovsky ~15 goals/30 points/healthy
Mohanan ~30-40 points/60+ games

60-65 goals for Caufield is what I expect too. Oh you mean points……..ohhh

Not a single PPG player since Alex Kovalev....

I would like to see Kirby play with Slaf, let Slaf learn from Kirby's play.

It will be a big win, if Slaf could end up as a power forward. He would look great with Suzuki and Caufield. I could see newhook playing with Dach. to balance the lines with skill and size.
