Slafkovsky is the answer, he's known for his playmaking before anything else. We just need patience. I think perhaps having Gurianov as his trigger man could give us something. Put Dach in the middle and you have nice big line with the abilty to both play big and have skill. All Gurianov will have to do is be the fast big man he is and find openings to let either Dach or Slaf get him the puck. I honestly see a better, bigger faster Hoffman wrapped up in Gurianov. He could absolutely produce with the right molding and linemates.

This is the way.

Could work. But I have Slaf with Suzuki and Caufield. Who do they get if not Slaf or Gurianov? They need a big body and Anderson didn't work them.

I wonder if Slaf will play another game this season, can't wait to see an improved Kirby plays with him.
Considering how the season has gone for the Habs as far as injuries - there's no way i'd bring him back.

Heal up, have a good summer and be ready come September.

No World Championships either.

Kirby Dach though, I would think/expect he'll get invited to WC.

Slaf is a very good playmaker but he always been a goal scorer at all level he played.

He's such a menace out there, at the start of the year he weighed 212 and was 6'4. I think if he can get to 220 lbs this summer he'll come out like a bat out of hell next year, especially if he gets better linemates next season.

This question has been asked a bit lately, almost sheepishly or defensively.

But in all frankness, it should not be shocking that a player drafted 3OA might have a higher ceiling than one drafted 13OA.

Same with PLD, also drafted third. Its not blasphemy to think either of these guys might end up better than Suzuki.

And I'm not knocking Nick to say so.

you deserve a big pat on the back. you pumped his tires pre-draft quite a bit if I remember. Definitely his biggest cheerleader.

Take a bow, sir!
Yeah vividly remember that draft year,
It was paramount to grab at least 1 of Cozens or Dach that year imo,
And we "settled" for Caufield

But getting Dach after all? It's a real coup, still can't believe it

I personally am in no rush to take Dach out of the center position even if it is Dubois. But it is nice he has the versatility.
Always thought having versatile Cs on the same line would be brutal to play against. You only have them take face offs on their strong side, and watch the % go up drastically

Kirby Dach is at the same tier of talent than Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.

No doubt about that !
Suzuki maybe. We’ll see.

Caufield though has superstar talent. I think he’s a cut above either of these two.
Dach has the highest potential on the team, imo.

You just don't see many 6'4 guys move and handle the puck the way he does. He's rare.
Great potential. But he hasn’t broken scoring records throughout his career as CC did in the minors. I think Dach’s ceiling is first line center, not superstar. CC on the other hand I expect will hit 50 goals multiple times in his career.

Size is nice but CC has been so consistent…

If Habs end up either drafting or trading for a top center (Bedard, Fantilli, Calrsson, PLD etc.) I could see Suzuki pushed to the wing as the odd man out at center. I think Dach could be that good. If he keeps progressing and is given top line scoring like Caufield or Michkov, he could be a 80-90+ point, big, physical center. He's on a 56 point pace and he just joined a new team while having zero confidence and he's still only 22 yo. Kid has a very bright future and looks better and better every game I see him play.

Dach has been showing more layers to his game over the course of the season. He always had good hands / dekes and passing. But now he is showing puck drive and using his size and strength to his advantage. He knows where to be on the ice to support the play. He also has tenacity and wins battles.

Not sure what the Hawks were thinking.
