Well if they wanna take that kind of offer, sure lol.

But I can't forsee a scenario where the Jets are trading Dubois to the Habs for less than an absolute overpayment.
Agreed…..that’s why I’m waiting for his UFA year to make a pitch for him.

At best I’d maybe offer a pick just before the draft to get his negotiating rights.

When does he become UFA? I think it’s July of ‘24?

That puts him at 26yrs old, right in his prime….will be story to follow for sure

The most beautiful thing about watching Dach, Caufield, Suzuki, Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris etc etc flourish, is that it's only made possible my a management team of HoGo and coach like MSL. Having everyone on the same page, competent and clear in their goals, and allowing the kids the ice time and ability to learn and make mistakes makes all the difference in the world. I mean you can see the kids strutting around out there like peacocks because they're so confident and happy to be there and that lets them do what they do best. Imagine this team under Julien, Therrien, deep throat Ducharme, etc. This would never have been possible under previous regimes which makes this so much sweeter. It's not just how much they're developing and improving and carrying the team, it's that they were actually given the opportunity and are running with it. f***ing LOVE this management team and all they've done. Can't wait for the Cup they bring!

Dach is having a hell of start and he's still very young.......with that $3.36M for FOUR season, he's already close to a point per game player and we only give up one pick of significance for him.

HuGo have simply knocked this one out of the freaking part.

Just with that one, it beat every single move Bergevin has made.

Dubois is currently on a one year deal, after which he is RFA.

He’s on track to becoming a UFA, one year after his current deal, so like you said, in 2024.

Suzuki trade was better.

On paper, the Dach-Romanov trade was pretty similar to the Drouin-Sergachev trade Bergevin made. A good young D for a 21-year-old former 3rd overall pick.

Obviously now, it looks like the outcome of the Dach trade will be much better than the Drouin one.

But the irony is Bergevin asked for Glass and settled for Suzuki, so it's hard to give Bergevin too much credit there. He failed upwards on that trade. Glass is barely an NHLer at this point.

When a woman is interested in you, do you act desperate and tell her how much you want her? No, you play it cool and let her come to you. This woman is completely obsessed with us, let her come to us for free, no picks, that reeks of desperation.

I'm not sure why people keep bringing this up, why does it matter? Has this been confirmed or just speculated and if it's the latter, how did it become gospel?

I'm sure if we were privy to a lot of conversations between GMs and even scouts, we'd find out that teams end up with great players often times by happenstance.

Everyone here would have targeted Cody Glass before Nick Suzuki if they had the opportunity then too, including most in the scouting community.

IF he did indeed ask for Glass and got shut down, MB could have easily said "Ok thanks for your time, goodbye" and never went for Suzuki.

There's enough content to legitimately criticize MB over, but that Suzuki trade is his and it belongs on his list of accomplishments as much as anything else belongs on his list of failures.

Like I said in the past, this is a very dumb logic to use to discredit Bergevin. There are always a lot of assets discussed in trade talks, and you always initially ask for the moon when selling a hot asset. Glass who was drafted 6th overall just the previous year had a lot more value than Suzuki who was drafted 13th. If anything, it would've been incredibly stupid for Bergevin not to ask for Glass in the Pacioretty trade.

Bergevin was in trade talks with many teams regarding Pacioretty, so Suzuki and Glass were not the only prospects Bergevin was interested in. We know Vilardi's name came up, and he's on pace for 48 goals and 72 pts this season. There's obviously a bunch more we don't know about.

When Hughes was in trade talks regarding Lehkonen, Barron wasn't the only prospect he was interested in. If Barron becomes a good top 4 D, and we learn that one of the other prospects Hughes wanted has busted, does he get discredited for making this trade?

What matters is the actual trade.

If you discredit Bergevin for having wanted Glass in the Pacioretty trade, then you're gonna have to discredit pretty much every trade made in history since rarely does one trade get completed after the initial ask.

@jaffy27 is the worst poster to use in that analogy.

He has an edge over many of us thanks to his spiffy pilot suit. He’s won a woman’s attention without trying too hard.

Plus, I saw pics of him and his girlfriend. The guy has matinee idol looks and I’m not into guys.

Hell I won't even front.

When I first caught wind of the Habs trading Pacioretty to Vegas, my initial thought was "It's gotta be Glass" and I was even mildly disappointed when i heard we ended up getting Suzuki and it really wasn't until about 10ish games into his rookie year, that I was convinced they got the right player.

I'm really curious to see what happens with Dubois this offseason and how the Jets decide to handle his situation. It was reported that they were fully aware before they acquired him that he wanted to go to Montreal but that they thought they could convince him to stay in Winnipeg long-term while holding his RFA rights. Obviously that hasn't worked out (so far) so I wonder how hard they hold this summer if Dubois still refuses to stay.

I've met @jaffy27 in person. You 100% right.

He's a slayer.

Pause tho.

Stop being so modest man.

The irony in that is Vegas wanted no part of Glass being part of the trade as they were so convinced that he would be a cornerstone player for years to come, and they had the beat seat. in the house when it came to evaluating him

And to say “settle” for Suzuki is a bit much, like the Habs had no idea who he was lol

We can dig deeper and say that Habs wanted Vilardi who has 10 goals so far and 15pts from the Kings, that’s the original deal. Plus i believe there was a 1st round pick involved in there, (LA’s 1st at 20) thats K’Andre Miller!!

Hey, we ended up with the best player and it’s all good.

Bergevin era is done, I’m more then happy to leave it behind.

I'm guessing we end up acquiring Dubois this summer trading a late 1st+ Dvorak
