The beauty of a deep prospect pool….oh….and we have 11 picks in the next draft including 2 in the 1st round and another 2 in round 1 of ‘25
Floridas pick being high is a bit of a pipe dream. But if somehow all the conditions of that Calgary deal fall into place, could you imagine a scenario like the ottawa pick Colorado had a few years ago? My God.

Someone in TVA last night mentionned that Dach was fitting in well with the team. Joking around and having fun being with people his own age.

I feel this may play a bigger role than we would expect. In Chicago their core was old and I bet the type of leadership was quite different. He came across to me in interviews as a very serious kid before. I bet he felt like young kid who had much to learn. He still do, but he's around people his age now and probably feels more like he's at the "center" of this team's core.

Irrelevant trades are irrelevant.

Getting Nick Suzuki, the best #1 center this club has had since Vincent Damphousse (and he may turn out better), overpowers any minuscule wins or losses in the myriad of other trades the Maestro did.

Losing Sergachev for Drouin, a gamble 50% of the people agreed with at the time, is not really important. Sergachev is good but overrated. I wouldn't trade Guhle for him, for example. Not by a long shot.

So the long-term damage it did to the club is not that bad. Meanwhile getting Suzuki illuminates the sky for the next 15 years.
6 years of Drouin....................is a long long time.

As for Dach, wow this just keeps getting better with each passing game.

We can head over to the Suzuki thread for that chatter.....I will say, Bergevin was given Suzuki, we all know he wanted Glass.

What UFAs did Bergevin pursue ahead of Alzner? Does it matter? Of course not. Bergevin is responsible for the transactions that happened, and gets the credit or blame for the results. No GM is 'given' a player.

These guys are just having youthful fun. Working in the best hockey city in the world. Getting better together. Their leader is Marty. It's glorious. They just need to stay away from the blow.

True, but Suzuki was offered and not Glass. Bergevin's target was...................Glass.

I’m targeting Dubois. I love his game, talent and size and believe his attributes would complement well our little chickens who are about to blow the door down to the NHL!!!
Yup at this point we need sandpaper and Dubois provides that. Dach on the wing, he's getting it done there. Which allows for Dubois to come in on a second line C role. Great fit. We all know that our tanking wishes are done.

Okay, but every single trade includes haggling over different players. If Bergevin didn't want Suzuki we wouldn't have him.
Yes, and no.......................we are now heading towards the throw enough $hit on the wall, and some will stick.
This is known as the Rinse and Repeat Era.
Just my 2 cents......
Back to Dach, the kid has been fantastic.

Lmao thank you!

Fantastic observation!

Getting away from Captain Serious probably helps. Loosen up and play his game.

The way he nonchalantly skated behind the net after being crushed? Was epic. The way he skated away after setting the screen for CC’s goal was even better! Lmfao! We’ve got something very special and fun to watch! Happy for the kid!

I believe that’s who they will target in the offseason.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Dubois had a hard time with Torts and he's MSL's mentor. MSL might not be enthused about getting a player that might f***-up the team dynamics.

Dubois has been pushed by the media and his agent. This is the perfect recipe to use the habs to help create a bidding war and raise his salary.

Personally, I would stay away.

I rather go for Dubois.

Dubois is going to cost us 8 million a year but he's going to push us maybe 5 spots up the overal standings.

Both would be nice too but the Rangers are too invested in him, for now.

Monahan is playing well but let's not forget his injury history.

I'd trade him and tell him the door is open for him. Maybe 5x5, but if he has a decent year, he will get more from others.
Don’t want Dubois if he wants a premium deal. We need to learn from the mistakes of others.

Look at the Leafs with Tavares. It threw their whole salary structure off. I loved the signing for them at the time but it had hidden implications that I hadn’t considered. In a cap e world it really matters.

If he comes, it must be at a discount.
