When’s the last time we had a first line performing at current levels? Hoping it’s sustainable but Dach sure has taken off. All of a sudden, it won’t matter if he’ll spend most of his time as a winger, if he keeps looking as comfortable as he has with Suzuki and Caufield.
Love his game, smart, tenacious, carries the puck well and wins most of his battles , hopefully we can improve his face off numbers. At only 21 i think his ceiling is sky high, it's like having a second center on the first line. Caught an episode on On-Jase we're Tourigny said don't be fooled by Dach's uninterested look they actually had to calm him down because he lives and breathes the game. Oh well so far so good hopefully this kid turns out to be a Gem.

It’s way too early to know for sure where he ends up but management does care. They went into the deal acquiring a center. It changes the whole outlook of who is projected to be the medium to long term center behind Suzuki. I’m not sure who that is if Dach becomes a full time winger.
True, but it may come to a point where it just makes more sense to keep him as a winger. Instead of trying to force a round peg into a square hole. As you mentioned, it's still way too early. So management has time to figure out what direction they're going to go in.

I do think management went into the deal acquiring a diamond in the rough center that they could develop into a full fledged top 6C.

However, if the player continues to be productive as a winger, then it’s a no brainer. I believe that MSL said something on tonight’s presser about making it easier on Dach now since he doesn’t have to shoulder as many responsibilities. Whatever works for Dach to be at his best.

Hughes can certainly pivot and look for his top 6C elsewhere.

The best is to built the team player by player. Trio line by brio line. The best fits will come naturally. Beck can be a solution. Monahan too. An ufa signing or another trade. I trust Gorton and Hughes, they will find a solution. Maybe it's Dubois or maybe someone else who is not on the radar.

I believe that was their original intentions. It may still be their intentions after a short period of time. Allowing Dach to increase his confidence. It's still early, but if Dach continues developing a strong chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield. It wouldn't surprise me if they leave him there. While pivoting in another direction to find another top 6 C.

Naaaah, that guy is a center!

And I'm sure he'll kill it next time they put him there.

lol your confidence is refreshing. I'm more of a wait and see kind of guy. Once Dvorak or Monahan is moved. We'll find out if the bolded part is true.

Dach 3rd in pts this season among the 2019 draft class. Only 2 pts behind Caufield who is number 1.
That would make a fine thread on the main board.

He just plays like a center, he's great in zone entries and is a great passer, with the body he has, it's center for sure...

He'll definitely get another look there at some point I'd say. Too early to typecast him as a winger.

Right now, if it's not broken don't fix it. Let him keep killing it on the Top line for a while. Can only do wonders for his confidence offensively.

So trade are not hard???
Plenty of stuff you can shit on MB for. I'd say trades weren't really one of them. He made plenty of good ones. Only the Drouin trade as far as I can think of was bad.

HuGo haven't been merely good, they've pulled off some godly moves so far. I haven't seen a Montreal GM make moves like this in my 30 or so years of watching. You could put these moves up against anyone's track record and they'd still look great.
