I will let Dach play with Suzuki and Caufield. Now that you already have good top line, it's time to prepare the second line. I will go hard after PLD. He would be a perfect center for Salf and Mesar. You want to get PLD as soon as possible. Another team may get PLD before us and he may not get to free agency.
We get the point that we will need a 2C if Dach stays at 1RW.

But pretend the guy in Winnipeg's name is Peter Wood so that you don't get over-invested in one player.

There are many options. Five months ago, did you think we could turn Romanov into the precise first-line player we seem to have acquired? Dach wasn't on anyone's radar. In fact, all the talk was focused on PLD even then, and lo and behold there was another option.

Calmons-nous.

I’m hoping that 2nd goal from last night gives him the confidence to shoot more instead of always opting for a pass.

He definitely needs to shoot more. Because if he does, the Habs will have a top line where the opposition will not know whether any of the players will pass or shoot because they can do either of that at any moment.

Well, if PLD's name was Peter Wood, he'd still be a big center that has had two 60+ point seasons and three 20+ goal seasons in his 5 years in the league and is currently on pace for a career year. And I'd still be interested.

But you are right in saying that you don't know who will be available as none of us had Romanov being traded or Dach being acquired, as well as Monahan + a 1st. So we can talk about one player now, but you don't know who will be available and he can be a much better option than PLD/Peter Wood.

Do we also need to pretend he can't play LW, he's not 6'3, he's not a 60 points player, he doesn't play a two-way game, he doesn't want to play here and he doesn't like the rough stuff ?

Theres more to it than his name.

Like Caufield, I want to see him produce without Suzuki. It's good to see his confidence back though. Even if he ends up a RW, can't really hate if he's a monster playmaking RW (like a slower Wheeler).
If the team were willing to split the Suzxuki-Caufield duo, this might be interesting......

Caufield-Monahan-Dach
Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Anderson

When three of these six players were not here last year, it sure makes for more interesting possibilties.

Not a fan of Gallagher with Dvorak, better suited with Evans imo. Would prefer to waive a few actually and see how Ylonen would work with Dvorak or Dach, but until some movement or injuries occur, seems Habs will remain stagnate.

You want to waive NHL forwards in order to make room for a 23-year old minor leaguer who hasn't come anywhere close to a point a game in the AHL?

Why on earth would you do that?

That's what makes him such a good compliment for Suzuki and Caufield.

It's also why Anderson could never cut it because he struggles with puck poise, he's a pure North/South player is better the less he handles the puck.
Agreed. Anderson in theory is a good fit in terms of being a big body that can play along the boards. But he lacks the offensive skill that Dach has to really make the line dangerous.

Dach can force turnovers, make passes and battle along the boards. Perfect for Nick and Cole.

Depends on who we draft this year. If it is a great 2nd line player that can match with Dach then sure. If not, it won't hurt us to sign PLD.

I like Beck and hope for him to be a 2C but im tempering my expectations to just a 3C lol.
Ideal world would be for us to draft a top 6 C or have Dach grow into the role so that we are im a situation where PLD isnt needed but would be a good addition. Add PLD to Dach, Anderson, Slaf and we have a number of bigger guys who can score.

I love this line. Dach is able to play his game without the full time defensive duties of a center.

He's going to prove his top draft position....and Chicago with hate this trade.

Dach was handling the defensive duties of Center well. I'd argue that's partially why he was added to the top line.

He just can't win face-offs. Hopefully Dvorak and Monahan can't help him with that.

He can do OK on faceoffs just not consistently yet

I don't think we should paint Dach as the 1st line winger yet.

Right now, it's all about development. Those are skill players, They need points, they need to build confidence.....once that is complete, then it will be time to try something else. And that's good for Caufield and Suzuki too.

We're building our future top 6.
I'm very close to paint him as the 3rd member.

There's only 3 open spot and tons of competition.
We'll see where Dach ends up when we have those guys.
