An interesting excerpt from this article : Canadiens Notebook: Pitlick's reversal, Dach's maturation, Edmundson's challenge

“We have every tool we could ever ask for here,” said Kirby Dach, “and those are key tools to use in order to get better.”
“For me, I just watch more technical stuff with Scott Pellerin and Adam Nicholas, working on time and space and finding ways to shoot more pucks,” Dach continued. “Those are the areas I look at video to understand a bit more.”

Not sure what he means by time and space, hopefully learning how to maintain possession against defenders by using his body. Also talks about shooting more which I see many of you want.

Is that your example ? Someone who didn't produce nearly as much as Dach with them ? Are you serious or being ironic ?
Nonsense, you haven't got to spend two high draft picks to get a 60 point winger to play with Suzuki and Caufield. Monahan and Anderson did same. Dach be limited to 60 point producer because he can't svore. Monahan scored 4 points his 5 games there and Anderson scored 2 points his 3 games there.

Just wasted a high pick on him. A lot of talent was on the board at 13 and 63 you know? I would have traded down from 13, picked up a future first or second. Drafted either Kulick or Schaefer according to how far back I had to go. I was high on Luca Del Bel Belluz also. Ty Nelson been my pick at 63. I was high on him at Hutson pick Took the future pick and used it to move a contract, probably a Hoffman. Took his caphit and Dach's gives me 8 million to work with. Either used it in top free agency or acquire more firsts. If UFA have best line in hockey. That way I have best line in NHL, plus Schaefer, Nelson.

i suck at math, but i'm seeing that Dach has 7 pts in 4 games with the top line

Lol what? This just seems like you have a worse team, no Romanov, a Hoffman contract you weren’t rushed to get out of and some maybe prospects. But okay. Also saying Dach is a ‘60 point winger’ is just sliiiightly overlooking the fact that he’s a still developing 21 yr old, former 3rd OA pick who is now also positively cost controlled for the team.

And like, just so I understand..you’re using a pick to get rid of a bad contract in Hoffman….to take back a bad contract + pick later on???

Picks are cooler than young players already in the league.

Del Bel Belluz can be a 100 points forward in his imagination still

But the guy already in the league for 2-3 years is finished and already has a label on him at 21.

Lol. Says nonsense, then proceeds to post legitimate nonsense.

So, I was right, they weren't nearly as good with then as Dach. Carry on.

I made a point to watch him pretty closely tonight.

Christ can he skate. He doesn't yet always make the right play, but he seems to execute whatever he chooses to do quickly and a noticeable split-second faster than anyone not wearing #14 or #22.

Our first line suddenly looks and moves like a genuine first line.

He's already our best player for keeping puck possesion and creating time and space IMO.

I'm okay with somebody saying we should've kept the pick. But you're not giving enough credit to Dach's play on that top line.

Yes, totally agree that he wouldn't be lighting it up without them. But he's not leeching points from them either. His three helpers the other night were fantastic. He makes that line better. And he almost added another one tonight but Hoffman couldn't bury it.

I'd also be careful not to dig your heels in on this one. You could very well be right that the pick could turn out better in the long run but there's a good chance it goes the other way. At least give the kid some time to change your mind.

There is already no question today that Kirby Dach, slightly younger than Caufield has enough potential to justify the 13th and 66th picks being spent on him.

Nice to see the habs entering an era where we could have a true top six. The best years of the habs history have been a team filled with talent, never just one player. Having Suzuki/CC/Dach all around the same age is amazing.

There were like 4-5 occassions yesterday where he had a lot of open ice and quickly made a pass. He has good vision, but he will be easy to contain if he just always looks to one touch pass to his linemates.

The potential is there. It's plainly obvious. There's still a lot of room to grow.

Was saying this to my buddy.. will be great when he finds the confidence he had in the WHL to carry and challenge defenders. He's too quick to defer to Suzuki/Caufield right now.

He's passing all the time right now because he feels like he's the third wheel on the trio.

Once he'll believe he's the alpha he's gonna dictate the play.

Turns it over at the blueline by trying to cut the other way and loosing his balance/puck. I thought this... does he avoid trying that again? Answer? NOPE... he did it again in the 3rd period and it was a good play.

Good sign. He's fearless and has high confidence. Something Drouin is lacking and it's called hockey IQ and overcoming past mistakes

Obviously love him, but definitely felt like he tried to force too many passes to Suzuki last night,
You could do worse than dishing to the Capt lol but sometimes it was a little rushed
Itll get better with a bit more time!

He needs to be the man on his line, or at least part of a dynamic duo. He doesnt fit as a third wheel.

Still doing good, but he doesnt exploit open space, he doesn't move the box, he doesnt drive the net, hes not super good at digging pucks and his greatest asset is wasted with Suzuki and Caufield because they ate even better puck carriers than him.

It is very, very encouraging for the PP though. These three should be fixtures on there for years.

I think he’s played well on their wing, the results speak for themselves.

Right now we’re a bit of a one line team, but the reality is Dach wouldn’t have much for wingers to try and form a dynamic duo with. Maybe Slafkovsky later in the year or next?

I could see Slafkovsky-Dach-Mesar being an absolutely deadly 2nd line in a few years
