On a good team yes but not in a contending team expect maybe if you have a franchise game breaking winger what MTL don’t have
well it helps that all those centers on contender teams all have elite players to play with them

Put a Marner,Kucherov,Marchand etc on his wing and hes numbers would explode

Really pleased with Dach's game right now, and there seems to still be a fair amount of untapped potential. He didn't have the cleanest game yesterday, but he still made some big impacts. That's some sign of how strong his game could be.

The combination of his skating, size, puck handling and small area game around the boards makes him pretty tough to deal with in pretty much every situation. He has pretty solid playmaking abilities, but this is also where I see some room for growth in his game. He's got the skills, it's just pulling it together in terms of timing and awareness of his linemates.

It seems easy to project him as a strong #2C for years to come, and some real possiblity of #1C. When we traded for him, I figured we were getting an average #2C at best.

Lol yeah listen..
You cannot have a team full of only 22 year olds perennially.

I didnt't say we shouldnt re-sign Monahan because of his age. I said he's not going to be top 6 center worthy a couple of years of now. So having him at center and Suzuki at wing is definitely not a good approach.

Would Zibenajad be considered a 1C? What was his track record his first 4-5 NHL seasons w both Sens & NYR?

What if the answer is
Caufield-Dach-Suzuki
Newhook-Monahan-Slafkovsky?
Yep. Why not? The lines rarely if ever shake out as we project them early on.

And honestly I love those lines but I think I would sooner put Money with Caufield and Suzuki. I really like the other line so far and Monahan seems to work well with those 2.

Monahan deserves to be in the top 6. Just praying he can stay healthy. Love that guy and he deserves to have his career not be derailed at such a young age. He’s too good and just seems like a beauty.

Would love a fully healthy season Monahan, flip for a 1st, then resign for 2 or 3 years as a UFA. The guy deserves some health luck and some contract security.

The flip re-sign seems rare but would be the best. If he’s healthy all year for the most part, I’d absolutely gamble on keeping him.

?

Good trades but not in the same stratosphere. If Dach becomes that big, 6 ft 5 #1C for the next 15 years, very few trades in our history would compare.
I’ll wait and see but Monahan and a first for nothing is quite the coup. Depends on what happens to Monahan.

Newhook came at a bit of a steeper price but not by much. I think he’s really something.

Could turn out one of the Top 5 trades in Montreal history.
That Weise fleshmann trade is the precursor to that trade and it was also an amazing trade. The Suzuki trade is up there but not quite as good imo if we presume Dach will hit his ceiling. But off the top of my head the Pete Mahovlich and Ken Dryden trades are definite top 5 trades

This would be the year Getzlaf jumped from 58 pts to 82. And that was on a good team with great support and the main offensive focus on his team. I wouldn't be that surprised if Kirby could get to 70+ this year so there's a path there. Getzlaf is imo the most underrated player I've ever watched, absolutely amazing player. It would be a dream if Dach could be that good.
Ya and that was on a defending cup winning team. He had Pronger and Niedermayer back there too lol.

Let the main board still sleep on him. Barring injuries they will be shocked at his stats at the end of the year

The thing is, Dach is going to be regarded as our best player before the season is out.
Our most well rounded player, I agree.

But I think Caufield has become our best player and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. There’s no doubt he’s somewhat one dimensional but his goal scoring ability cannot be ignored. He’s so consistent too.
