I hope he NEVER reps Canada at a world championship. Olympics and World Cup, ok. But playing in the world championship means he probably missed the SC playoffs. A Ft Sask boy deserves better than that.! But I get what your intending...feel really sorry for the kid he just wanted to live his dream of playing the world juinors and gets injured in a pointless warm up game.. hopefully gets to rep canada at the world championships some year soon .
The Hawks likely thought Dach would show up to their camp, after the WJC’s, in game shape. I can see why they supported Dach playing. So, the Hawks shouldn't have lent Dach to Team Canada because he might get an injury... do the Hawks have some magic pill for their players that prevent them from getting injured while playing in the much bigger, faster, and tougher NHL?
Could also be an American/Canadian thing. Americans don't look at these international tournaments with the same magnitude as Canadians.

All players would rather be in the NHL, and getting NHL paychecks than be at a junior tournament if given the choice.I think this is more true than not, though there are a ton of american players who truly cherish playing for the US. Johnny Gaudreau seems to be one of those guys.
Unfortunately, there are a number of Americans (and a lot of them elite players) who don't seem to care all that much.
The Russian government cordially encourages KHL owners to release Russian players for international service. As dumb as this pov is, I do wonder why KHL teams release their players so easily. Good for us.
It's single elimination so anything can happen, especially if a team has a hot goalie or a hot powerplay. In weak years Canada can win, and in strong years Canada can lose. Like, the 2016 team had 5 guys who are NHL all-stars by the time they are 23 (Braydon Point, Matt Barzal,Mitch Marner, Travis Konecny, Thomas Chabot), a couple of other guys who are NHLers (Dylan Strome, Jake Virtanen, Travis Dermott, Mackenzie Blackwood, Lawson Crouse, Brendan Perlini, Travis Sanheim, and Anthony Beauvillier) and went out in the Quarters. Then Canada's 2018 team won with less star power two years later with the only guys who've established them selves as studs at the NHL level being Makar and Carter Hart with a couple other guys who are NHLers but I wouldn't bet on them becoming consistent All-stars.Pretty amazing to have a kid like Dach go out and see how good Canada still will be.
as a US guy, this is exactly why you do t throw stones when Canada has an “off “ year.
this tournament could be bizarre Which would fit 2020 perfectly
Really hope this injury isNt a long term development issue for the kid
The difference is those games are necessary. The WJC is entirely unnecessary. It’s putting a player at a higher risk for zero benefit. The reason you play in the WJC is to prove you’re worthy to be a NHL player. It’s not like the Olympics that are once every 4 years and are super iconic or even the regular World Championships that pit you against the very best, but I’d argue NHL players shouldn’t touch those tournaments either, but they at least have more value than the WJCs. Dach has already proven his worth. There was no reason for him to go. Same with Lafreniere, Hughes, and Kakko. If you’re gonna get injured, at least there’s some solace knowing it was related to your career. Playing in a tournament you’ve outgrown doesn’t have weight. Then all teams should tell their CHL prospects, Euro prospects, NCAA prospects and AHL prospects to sit out all games and just wrap themselves in bubble wrap until the team suits them up for real NHL games.

Why would Dach even have been on the team then if that was the only reason? he is already an NHL player and he didn't have to go, he wanted to play because it's a huge deal in Canada and he wanted to represent his country, he didn't have to prove he is ready for the NHL at this thing, he has already done that.
I have a lot of respect for him wanting to play here when he didn't have to and for the hawks organization for letting him pursue it, he wanted to fulfill a kids dream here. I feel so bad for him that it won't happen but I sure as hell will always love the guy for it
Anyway, I think people should just focus on this as a horrible stroke of bad luck and wish him well. He definitely deserved better that's for sure, sometimes, well a lot of times, life just isn't fair.
Right on sens, you said it perfectlyI agree lets so some respect for Dach.. such a terrible luck freak kind of injury taking him out of the tournament he obviously wanted to play in very badly.
Lots of other threads to dissect the play of the players and promote the guys you want to see in more prominent roles.
Fell bad for Dach.
Same to you buddy.. Big Hockey day tomorrowRight on sens, you said it perfectly
Merry x-mas by the way, and GO CANADA
How is a game between Rouyn Noranda and Chicotoumi or TPS Turku and Ilves JR "necessary" to an NHL team? What makes an NCAA preseason exhibition game between BC and a Canadian college team like McGill necessary? The difference is those games are necessary. The WJC is entirely unnecessary.
