Kingston Frontenacs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

I'd have to imagine Kingston's done now - they have one 2nd (KIT 2026) and 2 4ths (FLNT 2025/SAR 2027) left but unless they're picking up pure depth I don't see any holes they'd be able to fill with those.

I'd be lying if I wasn't a little surprised they had the stones to make this move but I think it is the right decision. I did see Guindon played with Schenkel in Rockland so there is some familiarity there.

Edit: Jersey Numbers for the additions - Willis 14, Hay 68, Bishop 6, Schenkel 31

For what it's worth I did hear from a parent of one of the players that Lalonde was pretty crushed when he found out. (ooops is this allowed or will Scout report me again ?)

A lot of fans are upset about the move and while I fully understand wanting a hometown kid to finish his OHL career here...it's the same fans who hate when the Fronts don't make the "all in" moves.

Schenkel gives this team a WAY better chance to win, and Cooper even said in the press release something along the lines of "Lalonde wasn't giving us the results we needed" and he even admitted that it was a really hard thing to do given the relationship.

Fans need to support the boys now that they've given us a pretty strong team and not hate on them like they always do. This market is terrible lol.

Are you referring to “fans” on Facebook? I don’t have Facebook but have been shared comments from there before and those folks don’t know the difference between a puck over glass and a prick in the @&$ - people I’ve been chatting with - STH’s , Billet parents, regular attendees all say how shocked but excited they are with the moves.

Makes sense. Great kid for sure but I’m glad cooper had the balls to make this move- it was definitely needed.

Expect a big game from Lalonde when the fronts play the Soo on Friday

Literally.

Everyone complaining is a casual. Schenkel is MUCH better and puts the fronts into tier 1 of the east with Barrie and Oshawa imo. Never a move a gm would want to make but it’s all or nothing and you can’t be half in.

I was the one who posted back that would Cooper choose friendship over team. Hats off to him, he chose team. Draft picks can be recovered over time. Kingston is a better team today and we should worry about this year and not next year. Cooper has done his part now it is up to the team to perform and for the fans to come out and watch.

Betts in net with Vaccari backing up.

I'm assuming Schenkel meets them in the Soo, Pieniniemi I read missed a WJC game with a minor injury so I'm wondering if they're letting him rest. No Buttar is interesting, I think this is his first missed game.

Sucks pieniniemi isn’t in. Would love to see him after doing so well at WJC

Wonder if they roll with 3 the rest of the season or if they send Betts back after this weekend and maybe call him up for a game or two the rest of the season

Buttar would benefit from some time in the OJHL I think. Same with Kelly since they won’t be getting many minutes. Hoping Buttar can get drafted next year- Kelly is a 2027 draft guy so wouldn’t be the end of the world if he didn’t play much the rest of this season on a loaded team

Betts was listed as FA on the lineup sheet so I'm pretty sure he's still on a B card. I wonder if Vaccari actually healthy or if he's still not 100% and is just filling in on the bench until Schenkel arrives, I thought Vaccari was due to miss another couple weeks.

I like the idea but I think if they want Buttar/Kelly in the OJHL they'll need at least two depth forwards, right now I have them at 12/13 on the depth chart. Something like a Kaeden Johnston type addition for a late round pick.

Buttar is nursing a minor injury, Pienniemi is sick.

Mason has been cleared to play. He was initially 4-6 weeks. Got hurt in brantford, so this is on the earlier side but good for him and good timing.

On the Erie board they think Terrance may be Kingston bound. Don't know what we have to offer Erie for him
I've seen that stuff too and that's exactly why I don't think it happens. The only piece they have that could get him is Hopkins and if they hadn't moved him already they're not going to move him now.
