Do you really think they would have just overpaid for 2 guys that can play C if that was the case?

Willis can and has played the wing. If Ludwinski comes back that would be absolutely massive. Seems kind of like a Josh Bloom situation where it comes down to the last minute before the deadline.

Out of 26 qualified goaltenders, neither of your goalies are in the top 20 in SV%.

Good team, but the goaltending is embarrassingly bad, by far the worst of any playoff team

Is this how you determine the values of goaltenders. All the skills and numbers hold great significance, however, the team's performance up front is more crucial to their success and also of the overall team's success.

I agree. GAA and W-L don't really mean anything, but the quality of the team is very important.

That's why you saw Gillespie get a good price despite a bad SV%. Guelph's defense has not been good this year, to say the least.

When you see a goalie with awful stats on a good team like Kingston, that's a red flag that you've got a horrible goaltender.

A goalie with great stats on a really bad team like Schenkel or Bowen then they are probably very good.

As you said there's a bit more to it, but not enough to make Lalonde into anything but one of the league's worst goalies.

Will note that both Bishop and Hay are not prototypical guys for Saginaw's system. Neither of them are amazing puck movers but they filled a need we had last year. I think in a more traditional set up, those two will play to their roles better.

What? A) Statistically Lalonde was one of the worst goalies with the 4th worst save % last year at an 0.869.

B) So because Kingston is making trades they're not good? Does that mean Oshawa sucks because they traded for Gibson, Barrie sucks because they traded for the NB trio and London sucks because they traded for Allen?

He was, actually. He ranked 22nd out of 26 goaltenders. He's been an awful, awful goalie since he entered this league.

I want to see the Fronts do well, as I have some friends involved with the team. I just think this goalie issue is a huge Achilles heel.

I guess the guys that sign players to NHL contracts are not only looking at stats then?

It means, Lalonde's numbers will improve with the now new improve Frontenac's team, that is what I meant, he is not the best goalie, we all agree, but with an improved team, so will his numbers as well

If he could play the way he does against the other 18 teams this likely wouldn't be a conversation but unfortunately when half of the divisional teams are having point nights against you its going to reflect badly.
Columbus obviously see's something in him there is no doubt there.
IMO he has not proven he is a capable reliable primary goalie this season or in his OHL career for that matter.
I'm told he is an exceptional human being which likely will make it hard for Coop to part ways especially as he has worked with him since a child.

I don't see the goalie situation changing with the connection with the GM and both goalies.

Although that happens in hockey to select teams I don’t think Coop or Mann are like that, I’m sure they wanted to finalize their business. They may still add by Friday but can’t see another player leaving.

As for Ludwinski’s future as a Front… that information is as reliable as the $4m dollars I will receive when I give my banking information over to that nice woman who picked my email to help her get her dead husbands money out of Nigeria.

Hate is very strong word to use.
He has personally told me they are both great kids just a couple weeks ago.

He just knows they need more skilled goalies to win and I think that is perceived as dislike.
Goaltending has cost them a couple games.
Defense has also cost them more then a few.
Plenty of blame to go around.

You either take everything way to literal or just want to plug your “I was speaking with Coop just the other day” or “I know Troy and blah blah blah”. Obviously he doesn’t hate the freaking kids man- I’m done with this site - people know absolutely nothing and are full of crap!

Except for that the OA goalie they are rumored to be trying to get will be in the building they are at on the road on Friday! Will be a short walk to the visitors dressing room for Charlie. For Lalonde, if flipped to the Soo as part of the goalie swap, don't know if he will even see the ice rest of the year. Going to run with Miller.

Cancelled Barrie game re-scheduled for Tuesday Feb 4th.

I think at this point it's probably safe to say the OAs aren't moving - we'll know for sure with the Fronts likely leaving for NB before the OA deadline.

Not sure I’d like that for Kingston. They’d get marginally better this year imo and then trade their star for the next 2 years
