With all the negative posts (sorry not sorry for the blowout last night) here I am curious what Kingston brought to the table being as they were in the running for the Memorial Cup this year

The discount for Queens students is a good idea. I remember one game a couple years ago Wright and the boys were scoring and Poole Heyes and Stewart all had fights and big hits. There was a group of 25-30 students behind the penalty box and they had the crowd going. They were chanting and I even remeber i think Heyes tapping the glass after the game in front of them as a salute. Good product will bring fans. You don't have to win every night, just give an effort. Caputi is over his head, I've said it for 3 years. If it isn't obviuos the boys have quit on him, I don't know what it will take. Gas him

Well, if Caputi isn’t let go by the end of the weekend, then Kory just devalued himself as a GM to a point of no recovery. Personally I don’t believe the answer is McFarland, he’s the engineer of the d and I believe the power play. There has been a rumour that the coaches are still tied to McFarland in Seattle. That tie needs to be cut.

If McFarland gets the job, it’s the same problem. Need a new set of eyes. This guy is the d coach and never played a lick of d in his life, how does he develop his guys, same results continuts with so many mental errors.

We have a good team, but it’s so clear they are not coached to do the simple tasks, turnovers, power play, compete level are major issues.

The only solution right now is to start fresh, the players need it, the fans need it and the association needs it.

This is getting beyond ridiculous. The players have quit on the coaches. did you see the numerous players exit the ice immediately after the game with congregating and acknowledging the fans as they normally do.

Coaches refuse to change things and do not adapt on the fly. Just keep doing the same thing. The two high flanks on the personal is the dumbest thing on the planet. They must be so easy to coach against. 0-21 and 5 SHG against during that span. First PP last night and a chance to get momentum and give up for shorthanded opportunities. Not to mention Burns negating two PPs with dumb penalties and adds a third later.

Oh Burns, Holmes and Maleek are back. The world has been saved. Not quite. It was apparent that a couple of them were not ready to return. And back to not adapting on the fly. Could they not quickly realize that pairing Maleek and Burns together was not going well. Both trying to run people and taking themselves out of the play shift after shift. -4 and -3.

Forwards playing scared but keep running them out there. Sit some players once and awhile and demand effort!!!!!!!!!

And just get rid of this fan voting hardest working player crap. That was an embarrassment last night. Lets give it to player that floated around all night, didn't forecheck once, and merely took a few flick shots from the flank into people's shin pad on the PP when not getting beat to loose pucks on the boards that the PK cleared easily. No accountability.

The reaction to the above from this coaching staff. Watch...

11, 41, and 15 will all start tonight.

And I love these players but they need coaches to make them accountable, get the best out of them, and put them in positions to succeed.

Kingston fans have always been the same. There is a group of diehard fans that supported no matter what.
I believe there are not many OHL fans in the Kingston area. I was shocked that normal attendance was ~3200 maybe not once cracking 4000 after a trade deadline that saw the additions of Villardi, Day, Pu, Jones at a time the city was booming
The other side of the fence is that when Kingston fans showed up and sold out the M Center the team was hot and on a winning streak with great players. They also had a smaller venue. Kingston hockey fans will support winners and excitement usually last half of the season

The product got crappy the team moved, covid, prices went up and the team got worse.

Covid hurt because people found other ways as a family to enjoy their money and time.

I still say the location hurt them a great deal as most of the people living in Greater Kingston live in the old Kingston Township area. Therefore it is a longer drive to get to the games. Higher prices and a lousy team.

But you look at other teams Ottawa has the same issue in that if the team is not playing well and exciting fans find other things to do.

I think there are very few people living in Kingston that can afford the games.

After some thinking here I agree they have quit on the coaches it’s been evident the last few games last night as the last straw. They need to win tonight because they’re not winning Sunday against a way better team in Owen sound. If they go 0-3 this weekend it’s the end for sure. Especially if the power play struggles continue and they keep getting short handed goals scored against.

I’ve noticed they always play good the first period effort wise but if they fall into a hole whether it’s 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 etc they always take the foot off the gas when that happens when with good coaching it should be the opposite- they should be flooring it trying to get back into the game. I remember a few years ago they had Brett Neumann on the team and that team was as hard working as any I’ve seen in kingston. They didn’t have immense skill but they worked their asses off every single night. This group is the opposite. They have the talent for a team that could win their division but it’s just simply not working out. Yes there has been injuries and yes they’ve had a hard schedule but I’m going off the effort not results.

Springer has to be given credit for one thing. He was the only person to step up and buy the team.
The challenge was and may still be that there is not a lot of interest in owning the team.

I think that if the team folded or had an owner who wanted to move it there would not be any OHL in the city.

There has to be a base of support and there doesn't seem to be that base or prospective owners that want to take over the team.
You might be right. There may be no one else willing to own the team.

But, those stating this city has/had no OHL fans are wrong. It was the same in London when they had a bad owner and played out of the Ice House. There were no fans. I went to a Fronts game up in Sudbury a few years ago on a Saturday night when they were losing. No fans. You remember the 67s in those losing years in kanata. No fans. Petes while losing. No fans. The Fronts fans have been jerked around by this owner for a couple of decades. Year after year season ticket holders stopped renewing and doing something else with their time. Fans don’t like losing in any OHL town, and won’t support it. And since the Fronts haven’t even made the OHL finals in 50 years (!!), I’m not sure why people are surprised that the fan support is not there. If they did what Hamilton did over the last 6 years since moving from Belleville, I guarantee the rink would be sold out each night. But ownership…

Article about tonight’s game. Not looking too good for the fronts. They said in the article 25 goals through the first 6 games and then 1 goal in the last 3. So in other words they’re having lots of trouble scoring. Now they’re facing Guelph who is 5-2 and I didn’t know this but they have “so far” the best goalie in the ohl this season to go with a real good defence.

Don’t think they’ll be scoring too many this game either.

Is there a time where a team got shut out 3 or 4 times in a row? Because tomorrow they play against another good goalie whoever they start in Owen sound and imo of the 3 teams we’re playing here this weekend they’re the strongest one.

Only thing is they are getting used to a new coach so that may even the odds with the fronts if OS is having their own coaching troubles.

Sarnia hasn’t had much success either but they do better than kingston for fans and they have close to half our population.

They have been historically (last 6 years or so) similar to Kingston, which isn’t exactly amazing, considering there is almost nothing else to do in Sarnia (and visiting Knights fans no doubt bump up that total). I’m sure they would be much higher with a winning product.

There might be a pocket here and there that will support a consistent losing product with poor management over the long haul but I’d bet almost every city would be in the same shape as Kingston if they had been through the same situation.

I am done with this team until they make a change.

This coaching staff today after last night's game...

"Burns and Miedema you guys looked great last night...you got the start tonight. First PP you guys are on that as well bc I think it's going to work soon with what we are doing." First PP we are down 1-0 instantly on yet again another shorthanded goal against. And another too many men on the ice penalty. LOL. You can't even make this up. Why are people not loosing their jobs??????

Shouldn’t be long now. Based on the OA acquisitions the plan was to compete this year, so no doubt there is internal pressure.

On the plus side, if they get a new coach in there that can right the ship there are months of hockey left to play this season to catch other teams.

LOL This coaching staff. We score two PP goals in 2nd when they finally change it up and put some different guys out there for first time and then get to third and get a 5 on 3 and go back to the old plan and nothing.. How do you not reward the guys that just got you back in the game. Just more evidence of bad coaching and entitlement. How has that been working? #firecooper not Caputi if he cant hold these guys accountable himself.

The only way to right this ship is to
A. get someone behind the bench that the players will trust and can get their buy-in in practice.
B. Get rid of a couple of players that have given up and are poison in the dressing room.

They went with a coaching staff that is 3 years old and has done nothing.

Someone mentioned the OS coach got canned he is not the solution the players will look at him as defective also.

Kingston went with a backup goalie who had no experience or proven record in minor hockey, instead of having a camp where the position was open.

I could swear I remember someone last year saying that Saljko was not ready and everyone telling him that he was

Almost makes me think of that Mac Davis song as a personal anthem LOL

The saviour on d is -7 in his first two games and has several dumb minor penalties but just anointed D1 minutes, much like the fwds. This coaching staff has no clue and should not have even made this trip How can the powers that be not see it??????????????????

With all due respect my man I don’t think they’ll care if they lose 1 fan but I get what you’re saying.

Caputi will get fired for sure after that game. Also good for McFarland running the powerplay and getting the 2 powerplay goals. Should’ve been 3 but I believe Holmes hit the cross bar? Or maybe that was at another point in the game I forget.

They had a training camp. The other goalies were worse than him there. Not many more options. That’s why they picked up a backup goalie in Downey. After seeing salajko in action confirming what the team already knew- he wasn’t ready.

I agree burns has been horrible same with McGowan and budnick since coming back. Holmes made a stupid play today as well. Schneider I didn’t see him too much today I think they just ran with the top 4 for the most part.

Also to add to all of that^ fronts finally got 2 powerplay goals. McFarland in his second game coaching the powerplay. Gotta think if Caputi gets fired McFarland is going to be the guy for now.

Imo this team needs a big trade to leave a message on the team. I’d be trading ludwinski right NOW. He won’t be back next year- he had his best game imo since coming back but they need to try something.

Personally if im cooper. Trade ludwinski to Sudbury for Chromiak and picks (strengthening defence for this year and next year and picks) AND fire Caputi finally. Promote McFarland to interm head coach for 15 games see how he does.

If no improvement bring in Owen sounds coach to be interm HC for rest of year.

The catch is that it is not just 1 fan. There is a reason that the turnout is low and that is that he is not the only one that feels that way.

As to Salajko I don't think you can sy that he was not ready He was a rookie who for his first game according to you was put into a game because they knew the team was going to lose with a lineup that really is not there to play.

As I said he should have played against Niagara which is not a high-scoring team.
Playing Salajko against London and then releasing him is like Anaheim bringing up a junior goalie when they play the knights

The bottom line was that the fronts are a mess. Everyone trumpeted the fact that Salajko was given a contract last Spring and stated that with him and Vaccari you guys were set.

They are not developing the coaching is bad and there is no direction for the team.

Beast I expected them to lose and get blown out by 4 or 5 goals. Got 8 goals scored on him on 27 shots a lot of them were really weak goals. Yes some 2 on 1s and good saves but he should’ve stopped half of them.

They would’ve lost to Niagara either way. The team got outplayed massively from being so tired from the night before- not vaccari.

I never thought salajko would be good but I didn’t think he would do as bad as he did. I’m sure he will be back on the team for next year- I don’t see them keeping a 20 year old backup goalie on the team.

Salajko got his first taste of ohl action and with all the games he’s been around it actually should be beneficial to him regardless of the results that happened last Friday.

They need a big trade to go down- there is only 4 people save in my opinion- miedema, Hopkins, burns and vaccari.

They need a big trade to go down it’ll make the boys go oh shit and hopefully play after that. And not just the big trade but a coaching change too. If they traded the captain Ludwinski who is one of the best players on the team(and won’t be back next year) I think that would benefit the team in more ways than not.

Not only would that shake up the locker room but you’d be getting a top 3-4 d man in Chromiak, next year you’d get Chromiak back and he would be a top 2 d on the team with Burns, the team as whole is a year older and they’d be much more solid as a whole.

I wouldn’t appoint anyone captain for the rest of the year watch them all have a’s until someone is ready to step up and lead. I’d think that would be burns.
