Dubuois will be a great pickup for us. He is a faceoff man for sure, big strong, can score a bit, but brings valuable mem cup experience to us. poole if not traded will inevitably be shifted to the 4th .

I never really understood why Kingston brought in Uens to begin with last season and paid a 3rd in that trade.
He has regressed in each of his last 2 seasons since his rookie year.
This team unfortunately has a history of making trades like this that don't make sense like acquiring Outwater & Savard.
Trades like below just simply cannot continue to happen going forward.

Uens was great as a 16 year old then regressed. I think they thought they might have struck gold on Uens and that maybe he just needed a change of scenery. Ditto with Outwater who was a mid-first rounder.

Both trades don’t look amazing in hindsight.

I completely forgot how steep that trade was. I don't think the logic was necessarily flawed - give a 1st rounder a new home and reunite him with a MM teammate in Soto, but obviously it didn't work out. I've liked McNamara more than Outwater so far though - so at least swapping between them was a decent move.

The Uens trade never really made sense - IIRC they desperately needed RD and combined with him having a 16 y/o season, as well as being local they probably felt they could pull the trigger.

I don't really mind the Savard trade - cheap addition to fill an OA spot that didn't work out for whatever reasons but in the grand scheme of things it's only an 8th.

I have Ottawa finishing around 6-7th place. -They have Saginaw, Kitchener, Brantford, Oshawa coming up this month those are 4 teams that are easily better then Ottawa.
Oshawa has a VERY weak schedule and should pass the 67S in the standings this month.
I don't see either of the 2 moves Ottawa made being game changers for them by any means.
Mayer still makes a lot of poor choices and turns over the puck quite frequently. -he definitely had a overvalued stock being the benefactor of playing on a great team.

I do not think that James Boyd is going to stop with just these 2 trades a couple of more probably coming. Ottawa was playing well before the injury bug hit and with a few solid additions should end up being very competitive again.

You’d be massively overrating Brantford and Oshawa.

Other than the Petes (especially after Beck is moved) I think any of the other 4 East teams can beat the other on any given night - the standings show exactly that. It's a tight race - saying any team is definitively better is a waste at this point, especially since we still have 2 days of potential moves.

I do think it's going to be someone out of the central in the OHL finals - I lean Mississauga but NB has made things interesting.

This conference is so tight that all it takes is one team to get hot at the right time. I feel like that's what it'll come down to. Typically it's the team with the goaltending to back it up and all season long we've seen that it's Mississauga that has two incredibly capable goalies, even with Ivankovic being a rookie. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see them make a run to the finals.

I really cannot see what makes so many believe Miss is a top team this season

$100 friendly bet?

Let’s revisit on Wednesday. If the 67’s do what I think they will do before the deadline is over, I will make it even more in your favour.

If the 67’s finish the deadline where I think they will (adding a backup goalie and another key OA), I will put up $100 to your $200 that Ottawa wins the division.

We can make it official on Wednesday When the dust settles to make sure both of us know the rosters first. If there are significant changes on any of the teams int he East Division beyond what we see as probable, we can adjust accordingly.

I will come to Kingston on the 22nd of March (2nd last game of the season) to pay up or collect!

The standings?
the difference in standings are about a win and tie between teams. Miss is loaded with youngsters that wil wear down while Ottawa, NB, Kingston have made significant additions and eventually Sudbury will too

Never mind Waldo where did Skalba go? Kidding he is contemplating the bet.

Martone, Misa, 2 very high end goalies, n

The team is well built for a run.
Porter Martone is going to be one of the top prospects in the 2025 drafts.
Luke Misa is likely going First round in this years draft.
They have 2 elite level goalies.
Defensively they are frustrating to play against.
If they didn't take so man ridiculous penalties they would be running away with the East right now. -I have seen them blow several games due to this.

I liked his post signaling I'm in.

Meh, only $100. It will be a fun game at the end of the season on March 22nd in Kingston either way.
I already have a game assignment in the AHL that day i'm obligated to attend but either way if i lose i will emt you.

Too bad. It would have been fun if that game had some sort of consequence!

I am sure we can arrange something else. EFT as a last resort. We’ll finalize on Wednesday!

Good luck!

They were top seed going into the Christmas break. MacKenzie (maybe the top goalie in the league or close to it - Injured). Foster suspended. Barlas injured. Dever injured. Uronen out for season. Rolling with one true top 9 centre all season. That was the 67’s coming out of the Holiday break.

They just added a #1 centre (Kessler). They just added a top pairing D-Man (Mayer) to finally fill in their top 4 on the back end which they were brutally lacking. They will add the 3C or maybe even 2C pushing Gardiner to 3C today or tomorrow.

Simply just getting Mackenzie and his .915% + 2.79 back is going to be great help.

You have no idea how filling in those three huge gaping holes will help this team. We’ve been playing with one hand tied behind our backs all season. Once the third shoe drops and we nail down that last centre (Donoso out and filling the 3rd OA spot), we will have the main pieces.

I understand where you are coming from but if you understood how shorthanded this team has been all season, you’d understand better where I am coming from.

You will see the team turnaround. It may take a week or two to get MacKenzie back and the inserted players comfortable but the last 8 weeks will be very solid heading into the playoffs.

No disrespect meant to Kingston but they give up a ton of goals. If that doesn’t get solved in the second half, I can’t see a scenario barring significant injuries where Kingston finishes ahead of Ottawa.
I hear you with injures, and big holes on the roster, etc. And I do think the 67s will improve from this past few weeks.

However, your calculations seem to only imply that the 67s can get better. You discount for instance how many points the Fronts also lost (when stating the 67s were in 1st) due to injuries, poor coaching at the start of the year, learning a new system, and also having holes that are now being plugged.

With a healthy, well coached Fronts team with new additions, it would be hard for me to see the 67s being any better than the Fronts, especially several seeds better, even healthy and with two more bodies via trade.

Let’s wait and see where the two rosters are on Wednesday. That’s all I can say right now.
