2/3/5 for Dubois, a little surprised they still have both their '24 2nds, makes me wonder if something else is coming because it doesn't make sense to keep them

I think there will be unfortunately. Making lots of buyer moves- not selling ludwinski. I fully expect atleast another move or two here. (Again just my opinion not stuff I know from inside)

Or maybe they are doing this and then shipping out ludwinski for picks kinda like the budnick and Schmidt situation and Dubois will fill in one of the top 2 lines (along with valuable m cup experience)

Love the addition. Have a feeling Cooper isn't done yet either. As someone else mentioned, it doesn't make much sense to keep those two 2nds for this year.

Anybody know how many cards they have left?
I was just thinking about this - if I have the B cards right, they're at 27 out of 30. I'm not sure about Downey because he played 26 games last year and I seem to remember seeing that automatically puts him on an A.

Ludwinski
Thibodeau
Battaglia
Soto
Miedema
Hemstrom
Frasca
Heyes
McNamara
Poole
Outwater
Savard
Callens
Hopkins
Cavallin
Weir B
Dubois
Burns
Holmes
Chromiak
Budnick
Schmidt
McGowan
Uens
Williamson
Bergeron B
Schneider
Velliaris B
Vaccari
Salajko
Downey B

This team is looking strong, though we have used up a lot of picks this year. I guess next year we can always trade our first rounder if we get too low on picks.

If we do trade Ludwinski this year we better get a solid 05 back that isn’t a huge step down; otherwise there wasn’t much point in making all these trades and giving up assets for this year only.

Me personally I’m hoping for an 06 that’ll make an impact now, next year, and the year after. That way when everyone graduates after next season you still have that as a trade chip. I’d say weir could be that guy but not sure where he would slot in next year. Hoping second or third line but may be 4th to start. If he doesn’t play much with us it could hurt his development.

I think it as the year that the Petes needed a 2nd. Prior to today the Petes had no 2nd until 2027. They got a 2024, 2nd in the Jax Dubois trade so expect the 2025, 2nd fit their needs better.

First time posting in awhile...

I really think Cooper will be making another move or two before Wednesday deadline and it only makes sense now to be buyers and not move Ludwinski. I initially thought it would make the most sense for him to be moved to go for it next year, as bad as it would suck to see him go. However, it now looks like we are partially in for this year now, so think he stays.

We traded a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th to get Dubois and a 2nd and 3rd for Schmidt. That's a lot for two OAs who will only be here for a few months. I love both players but only love the move if we add more before the deadline. Otherwise I don't think the moves make any sense.

My concerns is that we have done well vs Ottawa/Peterborough but struggled against Mississauga and Brantford -- so "going for it" may help us against teams we are already doing well against but I'm not convinced we can beat Missy or Brantford, let alone NB or Sudbury. Watching the game vs Mississauga on Friday really showed how the Fronts arent there...and that included Ludwinski in the line-up. So I guess do the brain trust of the Fronts feel like winning a round vs Ottawa (which will be harder now that they have Mayer) and then losing in the 2nd round is worth it? I guess 4 home playoff dates maybe enough sway.

Schmidt did not cost a 2nd and 3rd. It cost Budnick + Kingston added a third.
They flipped Budnick to Guelph for the picks needed to make this trade and got a pick in return additional -This was a massive upgrade and very important 3rd pick coming back.
Have to look at the big picture when looking at these trades.

Fronts are 1-2 this season against Brantford.
Really not bad considering the games in Nov were before Kingston made improvements to the team through trades.
Mississauga is a wagon this year. That is a team that is built for a Cup run.
Dubois is going to help them compete by adding Center depth.
You now have 3 lines you can run and be confident in pushing Poole down to the 4th line.

I think Ottawa will add another OA Centre and a backup goalie to replace Donoso. Once that is done, I see Ottawa nailing down the division and the #2 seed, maybe the #1 seed. They’ve gone through a recent rough patch but they’ve had MacKenzie out for a while and other injuries/suspensions. Playing with a gaping hole at centre has hurt all season. That hole is now filled with Kressler. I think this is a relatively safe prediciton.

I see a Battle between North Bay and Sudbury for the Central Division so they will likely take the #3 seed as well as the #1/#2 depending on the East.

That leaves the #4 seed wide open for Kingston And Missy. Brampton is in there too but they’ve had a super easy schedule the last month which has artificially padded their points. Their goal differential tells a quick story of where the really are. They may even make a seller move. I don‘t see them holding on to a top 5 seed.

Kingston likely needs another solid d-Man to make a true run at the division. I think the goaltending is ok. I think it is the overall team defence that needs some tweaking. Mann has done a great job so far and I think we will see overall improvement in that area the remainder of the season. But, the added D-Man will help.

That is how I see the top 6 based on what I think will happen through the end of the deadline. If there are a few surprise moves, I may be off a bit but I think we can now see where the teams stand.

If you look at the players they are adding the Fronts are going to be tough in a 7 game series. They added monsters in Schmidt and Dubois, McNamara has a large 200 foot presence, and Chromiak gets the puck efficiently out of our zone. So, well we may not do well in a one off game against a certain team, this team is being built for the playoffs.

I still worry about the goaltending, and hope Salajko can hold the fort when played and play like he did in Ottawa a week ago.

If they keep making moves I'd like to see them go for a responsible puck moving middle-six D - then switch up the pairs to be Burns/Holmes, ???/Schmidt and McGowan/Chromiak with Uens/Williamson as the 7th D.

I hope Hopkins doesn't lose too much icetime - but it feels almost like a guarantee that he'll be playing 4th line more frequently - Dubois could impact his PK time too.

I like the Dubois add, and Schmidt has been a good add.

McNamara is relatively ineffective in my opinion. He skates around and it looks like he's doing a lot but he doesn't really hit and isn't overly adept in his own end. He's a good piece, but I wouldn't hang a hat on him being a big 200 ft presence.

I think Uens is exposed when pressured and I think he should slide down to a 7th role and they need to bring in a more sturdy / reliable dman.

OMG, I love your posts but they definitely have a 67s bias to them.

I had to laugh when you come onto the Fronts board after Kingston beat Ottawa three straight this past week (and five of six on the season) and predict the 67s are winning the division! Pretty, pretty bold. I like it. I don’t agree (and don’t think the 67s will even get home ice). But, I like it.

I hear you but finding an 06 that is even close to Ludwinski level this year (and tradeable) will be tough. Plus, I’ll worry about two years from now two years from now. They have this year and next year to go all out and damn the consequences.

I think Weir could be a real good trade piece next year along with our first, since we may not have a ton of picks remaining.

I never really understood why Kingston brought in Uens to begin with last season and paid a 3rd in that trade.
He has regressed in each of his last 2 seasons since his rookie year.
This team unfortunately has a history of making trades like this that don't make sense like acquiring Outwater & Savard.
Trades like below just simply cannot continue to happen going forward.

I’ve seen a bit of a mix bag with McNamara.

When he is moving his feet he is all over the place, disrupting plays and moving pucks out. IMO, he was one of the best Fronts at the 7-4 game in Ottawa (which I was at), and I could see how difficult he could be to play against.

I’ve seen other games where he was invisible.

Hopefully, he’s a playoff guy. I’m assuming they figure he will be, way more than Outwater.

They were top seed going into the Christmas break. MacKenzie (maybe the top goalie in the league or close to it - Injured). Foster suspended. Barlas injured. Dever injured. Uronen out for season. Rolling with one true top 9 centre all season. That was the 67’s coming out of the Holiday break.

They just added a #1 centre (Kessler). They just added a top pairing D-Man (Mayer) to finally fill in their top 4 on the back end which they were brutally lacking. They will add the 3C or maybe even 2C pushing Gardiner to 3C today or tomorrow.

Simply just getting Mackenzie and his .915% + 2.79 back is going to be great help.

You have no idea how filling in those three huge gaping holes will help this team. We’ve been playing with one hand tied behind our backs all season. Once the third shoe drops and we nail down that last centre (Donoso out and filling the 3rd OA spot), we will have the main pieces.

I understand where you are coming from but if you understood how shorthanded this team has been all season, you’d understand better where I am coming from.

You will see the team turnaround. It may take a week or two to get MacKenzie back and the inserted players comfortable but the last 8 weeks will be very solid heading into the playoffs.

No disrespect meant to Kingston but they give up a ton of goals. If that doesn’t get solved in the second half, I can’t see a scenario barring significant injuries where Kingston finishes ahead of Ottawa.
