If I hadn't been corrected I would've realized I was wrong with this - another 2024 draftee signed.

Incorrect, think logically, defected player isn’t signed to a card, how does he count if he’s defected and not signed?
I meant if he is signed. Two seasons ago Sam Dickinson who London traded for and signed. He counted against their four underage. When Sudbury traded for Michael Hage he didn’t because he did not sign with them.

we are arguing the same thing, but dickinson was not an overage, hes a 16 year old.

I think they’re signing these guys so they go play in the OJHL or GOJHL for a year and develop and they don’t miss on those type of guys anymore like they did with Bruno Luciano and Matthew Manza who just needed a year to develop first

Agreed - also probably because they know they're going to have quite a few roster spots available in 25-26 after most of the '05s move on.

As far as Manza goes I'd have to assume he was heavily leaning NCAA all year - draft year stats-wise its the only thing that makes sense why he dropped so far.

With Bruno - he was a 13th rounder that was drafted at 5'4" 125lbs - we get on Thibodeau about his size, imagine how small Bruno would've looked (he's still only listed at 5'9" 161lbs) . I don't think anyone is signing a player at that size.

My guess is that he's realized he's a late bloomer especially in terms of size and late bloomers tend to have a better shot at a pro career through the NCAA route where he can polish his game, fill out physcially and potentially be signed at 22-23.

I don't know if it was part of their plan with the '07 draft but it seems like quite a few guys ended up going NCAA - maybe they took flyers on high-impact guys knowing there may not be a ton of roster spots with all the '05s.

OKAY we all like to cheer for our alumni when they are going for the cup.

Fronts fans have 2 choices that are both producing for their teams.

Who are you cheering for

Sam Bennet

or Jason Robertson.

Robertson but love Bennett. Hoping for a Florida vs Dallas cup final

Puck preps had this to say about Weir for next season.

“Ethan Weir | Forward | Kingston Frontenacs
Weir, who was selected 42nd overall in the 2023 priority selection, only found his way into the Fronts lineup on five occasions this year but had a stellar season with St. Mary’s in the GOJHL, where he put up 18 goals, and 38 points in just 34 contests. He also tallied 11 goals and 20 points in 24 playoff games for St. Mary’s while showing tremendously at the GOJHL Top Prospects event earlier this season. Ethan is a super-talented playmaker who sees the ice extraordinarily well. Not only can he create space for himself, but he also protects the puck so well. This buys him more time in the offensive zone to make a play toward a teammate and display elite playmaking. With some shakeup coming to the forward group in Kingston next season, expect Weir to be a contributing member to that top 9, possibly even the top 6.”

I fully expect Weir and Hopkins to both have breakout seasons. Hoping for the same with Velliaris but still may be another year before he’s an impact player. But I do think he will be on our roster this year.

Then when some of the 05s graduate the year after I’m sure these guys when they get more ice time will take another jump
(along with frasca, Battaglia and williamson.)

dont put too much into that, I highly doubt they travelled down to see him play.

I agree. Probably not and just going off stats lol

Will NEVER forget last year they said Hopkins and weir were 2 of the top 5 most OHL ready prospects and it seems they couldn’t have been anymore wrong lmao

they just guess. I’m sure they watch a bit of video but no scouting experience so how do they have any idea who is ready and who is not?

Yes they also had Belchetz who is like a “unicorn” and the clear cut #1 6’5 230 2.5ppg and an OHL Cup at #11 I’m pretty sure

he was 1 in like October. if those were my rankings I’d need to do a lot of self reflection
Hahahaha literally it’s not like it’s some 5’4 120 lb kid who’s putting up the points. Guy is coming in as one of the biggest in the league on top of all that skill. 0 debate about who’s first

I believe the trade window opens tomorrow - rumblings that Sudbury could be moving out some vets early - price dependant I hope Kingston is in on it, they got Holmes in this window last year.

Hopefully we can get an OA RHD that can play top line minutes and quarterback a powerplay. If they have to overpay a bit that’s fine as long as it’s the right fit imo. If McCoy is available definitely take a swing there.

Then after that focus on the import picks and get another d man that can play top 4. Not sure what they do with second import pick. Could go with a goalie, forward or another d man lol. Tough to say.

The rest of moves unless there’s a deal you can’t pass up like getting wakely for instance leave the rest until January

I wonder if they swap one of our 05s for a top 04 at a discounted rate since the 05 we move out will be with that team for 2 seasons

Cooper said in a write up in the Whig a couple of weeks ago they will probably make some moves in this window.
This month is huge. Trade window opens and the import draft happens finally. Will get a lot more clear about what they’re trying to do for this upcoming season. Right now too much up in the air

Our backend is way too young without Schmidt and Holmes. Burns (still takes way too many penalties), Uens, Williamson, McGowan, Velliaris and maybe Chromiak? Yikes. Need to get an impact D before they're all gone. Hopefully McCoy is available, that'd be a perfect fit.

My guess is that Williamson and Chromiak end up being the odd men out from the top 6, keeping Williamson as a 7th D, McGowan and Velliaris as a physical 3rd pair, Uens and OA/import as 2nd pair and ideally McCoy to along with Burns as the main shut down pair.

The only issue I see with my prediction is they don't really have any elite puckmovers or PP QBs - I don't think McCoy is that kind of offensive talent.

If Pieniniemi comes over, slot him with Uens and see how that pairing works, and maybe even give him a shot on the PP.

defence pairing

Before I even start, I still do not understand the need for people to wish Pienemi coming to play here instead of against Pro players I take it that you are also one of those who believe that Malhorta is going to show up at camp LOL

The problem is that as you can see there are not a lot of OA RHD not only that there are not enough RHD period.

The other question is what do you have to offer?

the only OA RHD are

Ryan O'Dell guelph

Alec Leonard london

Ryan Vannetten dogs

Jacob LeBlanc NB

Luca D'Amato OSH

Madden Steen OS

Donovan McCoy

Nolan Collins sud

OHL4life who seems well connected has reported that Pieniniemi is coming here but time will tell.
