Kings Win; Kings 4 Snow Piles 2

Great win, but move on to the next. No time to think about the past at this point. I thought we wanted WPG to lose, but I can see arguments both ways. Just take care of our own games and we'll see how things shake out.

Islanders really struggling, they are playing the worst (easily) of the five teams we face on this road trip.

Need to put the hammer down.

Interesting to see that there seems to be a mini trend. Win 2 in a row, lose the next game. Hopefully that trend changes on Thursday. I'm going to be in NYC, I might swing by long island to watch the game. Anybody know how far the Nassau Coliseum is from Manhattan? I could google it but maybe someone with NYC-area knowledge can help me out.

When Kopitar and Richards play the way they did tonight, the Kings' depth down the middle is frightening for other teams.

Sekera needs to be re-signed. Figure out the rest after that is done.

I am Cautious with the (Kings are back feeling). Kopitar has to maintain his dominance over the rest of the season for the Kings to have shot.

The only thing the Kings have shown this year, is that they are inconsistent. One thing is for sure though; When Kopitar is the best center on the ice for both teams, the Kings win games convincingly.

Burned too many times? Just don't lose to the Oilers again...

One thing Sutter does right is he absolutely destroys AV.

Anyone else miss McBain? :(

Doughty didn't have a very good game, and yet the Kings still won with relative ease. It was nice that Sekera stepped up. He seems to be steadily getting better and better.

Kings are 15-5-2 in the last 22.

I agree. I think he looked completely exhausted, though. He was making bad plays, but they were 'tired' plays...swings at the puck, backing off players, etc. I'm worried all those 30/min nights are catching up to him, especially on a back to back.

Oddly, he was getting tons of shots through...

Just firing the puck because he's too tired to get cute with it?

Getting Martinez back has been huge, 3 puck movers makes a very big difference. Now if only Pearson can make a miracle return so Richards can go back to Manchester...

Ever consider that the rest of the team might feel a bit more spunk with Richards around? I'm not saying his play has made a giant impact, but if you lost of one your good friends for awhile and all of the sudden they were back I feel like anyone would perform better.

Agreed, agreed.

I'd say Sekera is our 2nd best defenceman in the long run. That's something you need to pay to keep.

I've never seen a third line get so much less ice time than our supposed fourth line, but I understand Sutter's motivation to a degree. He wants to feel Richards out.

I thought Richards had a strong game, and would have liked to see him out there a bit more.

i'm going to stop short of saying "Great" or "that's exactly what we need from him" because we'll need more, but he has buckled down on what pissed everyone off about him earlier this season, losing coverages easily. He broke up some plays, made some elite passes, and didn't look out of place against possibly the fastest team in the league (even if we made them skate in mud). Like RP said we'll have to see if that keeps up after the honeymoon is over, but he's "in a checking mood," as Sutter wants. If only someone around him could finish...

I hope that Williams has FINALLY meshed with Kopitar and Gaborik. Remember when he looked like their 5th wheel on a date? If we can get THAT going, that helps our depth immensely, especially when Pearson comes back...pushing Brown and Lewis down to the third line is a championship team.

Mike Richards was good. He was setting up his line mates and was sound defensively. The guy's skating is so bad, though. He's very, very slow. You can tell he's got a lot of tread on his tires.

What's huge is that Sekera has adjusted to playing on the right side opposite to Regehr, essentially becoming that second pairing defenseman that the Kings lost in Voynov.

He needs to be retained, and given his age, a long-term contract is due.

Players come and go all the time, if that's what it takes to draw out max performance the team won't be going anywhere this year.

Unlike most everyone else I was unimpressed with MR. Yes, he can still make the nice unexpected pass into the slot now and then but that's about it. In the King's end he was abysmal. He's slow and he has no shot and strength anymore. He can't fight for pucks without getting tossed around like a ragdoll. There is a reason DL keeps harping on his conditioning. His mind still seems to be there but he can't do it physically for whatever reason. Cue the but what about...

Gaborik is quietly putting together a strong season. He's scoring at a 30+ goal pace.
