Kings who could be traded this summer

Going back to the Doughty for a center idea. If the team is determined to move Byfield to center, picking up another strong wing could help insulate him like Reinhart with Lundell.

Iafallo, Kopi, Kempe
Moore, Danault, Vilardi
Fiala, Byfield, Reinhart (example)

Move Doughty for a good wing & upgrade over Arvidsson for long term. Frees up cap for Gavrikov & a goalie.

I'd rather target a center, but a wing could also work.

Yeah. He's not going to throw him under the bus publicly.

I think Petersen, if he's still here, will be given a chance in camp, will likely fail, and start the season in Ontario.

We'll know whether or not Blake was serious about that quote based on whether or not he acquires a goalie this summer. I think he will.
I think people are reading more into Blake’s answer than what he actually said. I definitely didn’t read Blake’s quote to say that Cal will be on the NHL roster.

I think he chose his words fairly carefully about Cal’s status for next year: “We’ve got to get Cal to be an NHL goalie. That’s what we signed him to do. It was a tough start to the season and his situation. He was really good about going down and playing games, but this is a big summer for him to come back and compete.”

What’s going to determine LA’s success is whether or not our young players hit. There’s no avoiding that.

Put a kid at the 2RW spot. Surround QB with good wingers.

Iafallo-Kopitar-kempe
Moore-Danault-Kaliyev/Fagemo/kupari
Fiala- Byfield-vilardi
Grund/JAD-Lizotte-xxxxx

Cap space freed up by losing Durzi, Walker, Arvidsson goes to LHD and goalie.

I wouldn’t mind bringing in someone to help solidify the 4th line.

Didn't Blake say they expect Cal to regain his "NHL capable goalie abilities" this season? I think that's why many people are putting him in their lineup.
Blake didn’t said that they need to get Cal to be an NHL goalie next season. He just didn’t say for which team.

Just don't see that as any different than this year. Byfield & Vilardi could improve. That will be offset by Kopi getting older & maybe Kempe regresses to a 30 goal scorer. Arvidsson to a rookie is a step down.

If they can retain top 3 D & add Gavrikov, that might help the D improve.

No space to fix goal.

31.7% of cap in Doughty, Kopi, Cal.

There's nothing that can be done to make this team a contender this season.

Only chance is if Byfield, Vilardi, Clarke, Kupari, Kaliyev breakout. So you might as well ride or die with them.

So we're in agreement.
Trade Doughty.

If the Kings re-sign Gavrikov, some variation of the above is the most realistic IMO.

The big question Blake is going to have to deal with is Kopi expiring contract after next season. Does he resign him and at what price. If it at what Kopi is making now that would be a very big problem for the Kings cause Kopi's skills is degrading. Best option might be trade him while he still a good value and brink back good young NHL ready talent

Am I reading that Kaliyev is making 9 mill cause if that is true Blake has to be a frigging idiot paying him that much. I would fire Blake for that.

I mean we're getting to the point where 'the kids' are no longer kids. Many are now waiver ineligible.

If they're not in the lineup--almost a necessity due to the org painting themselves into a cap corner with signing/trading of vets--they're telling on themselves and their drafting/development.

They key part of the plan was always the kopitar/doughty succession and they're handling it like the Hindenburg right now

Yes. Kaliyev, Byfield, and Clarke are making $9 million next year and Spence and JAD are making $8 million.

Yup, 22 man roster, under 1M in cap. D is better with Gavrikov, offense is worse without Arvidsson.

Not significantly different than this year.

That team above that is everyone is posting with a 4th line of Grundstrom-Lizotte-Kupari and a bottom pair D of Bjornfot and whoever will get bullied all day long - no toughness, no grit, no character.

Kings will get something back for Arvidsson and they will add some toughness. Mark my words.

Second year in the row the Oilers bullied and beat them. Oilers couldn't get thru the big Vegas D - Petro and Hague were in their head. Hague was challenging Kane and Nurse to fights all series. They clogged up the neutral zone and the Oilers couldn't split the big D and they def didn't bully Vegas.

Who is big and nasty on the Kings D? NO ONE.

Here's a variation just for you Johnny.

Kings add a bit of size/toughness. Get some draft picks back. Fix the 4th line. Put some young players in key roles.

UFA SIGNINGS:
Mikkola, LHD (6'4" 209lbs)
Hathaway, RW/LW (6'3" 210lbs)
Gavrikov, LHD (6'3" 221lbs)
Korpisalo, G

TRADES:
Arvidsson, Durzi for Pittsburgh's 1st Rounder
Roy, Kupari for Buffalo's 2024 1st Rounder
Walker, 3rd rounder to Chicago for Future Conservations

ROSTER:
Moore (4.2M) - Kopitar (10M) - Kempe (5.5M)
Fiala (7.9M) - Danault (5.5m) - Kaliyev (.894M)
Iafallo (4M) - Byfield (.894M) - Vilardi (4M)
Grundstrom (1.3M) - Lizotte (1.68M) - Hathaway (1.75M)
JAD (.825M), Fagemo (.875M)

Anderson (4.13M) - Doughty (11M)
Gavrikov (5M) - Clarke (.894M)
Mikkola (2M) - Spence (.820M)
Bjornfot (1M)

Joonas Korpisalo (3M)
Pheonix Copley (1.5M)

BURIED / TERMINATED:
Cal Petersen (3.85M)
Mike Richards (.700M)

DETAILS:
Roster Size: 23
Salary Cap: $83,500,000
Cap Hit: $83,177,501
Cap Space: $322,499

Would it be beneficial to the team for the Kings to be a bubble team near the deadline and Kopitar express an interest in going to a contender? Even a deal at this age would help the team and he can always come back in the near future?

"0.9" The zero helps people spot the ".".

Nice to see Richards is still on the payroll.

Toughness on 3LD & 4th line would be nice. Wish they could find a way to fit more in.

E. Kane apparently broke his finger during the series with the King's so someone got him.

Grundstrom sure. Lizotte no.

Lizotte is an excellent 4th line center. If we move him, I don't see how we have a functioning 4th line.

You're not going to get anything of value for him anyways.
