I hear the NHL is starting a new live tracking system for live on ice reports by reflecting satellite signals off Getzlaf's head in order to track his play. :sarcasm:

Heard that all last series, too. Kings are so dirty, etc. Granted, Stoll took out Vlasic, but that was far from the dirtiest play. Thornton's knee on brown, Torres' sucker punch on Williams, Torres elbow on Williams, Mike Brown plowing Voynov into Quick, those all get passes as good, gritty hockey...

We're not squeaky clean but there's a lot of confirmation bias when people see our rep. I have no doubt there will be some questionable plays in this series from both sides but I have no delusions that we're infinitely clean or that our opponents are unquestionably dirty. We are worried about Perry, for example, but I like that we don't go out of our way to make threads about every two-minute penalty.

Very well said.

I think there might be a few factors that go into obsessive hate thread-making, like:

*Homer broadcasters
*Coaches/GMs using the media for gamesmanship
*Having your team get stomped in the playoffs

Bias feeds off bias. But HFBoards isn't the hockey world. The hockey world knows that the playoffs are a war.

Brown and the Kings were the up-and-coming underdogs for so long. If they go back to missing the playoffs a few years in a row they could be "loveable" again. Who wants that?

As far as nut-spearing Perry goes, maybe get some titanium cups...

We are classless!!! Embrace it!

I wish I was that confident. I still think the Kings take this, but the Ducks do have the offensive skill that just seems to get through us. I'm hoping our refocused effort on defense will stifle them a bit in that area. We're starting to score again which is good, but San Jose also had more defensive breakdowns than I expect from the Ducks. It will be a closer series, but at the same time I don't think we spot the Ducks 3 games before we start playing our game.

The Ducks haven't faced these Kings yet. Like I said on the main board, the Ducks have no idea what kind of ****storm was stirred up in the first round.

The Kings that played games 4-6 were very reminiscent of the 2012 team. You just knew they'd win. During game seven, about five minutes in, I turned to my wife and said, "they'll win this game, I know it."

They're playing on all cylinders. Couple that with the Ducks not having a ton of experience as a group and it's a pretty lopsided series in my eyes. Bodreau is as soft as butter and it's the reason he runs his hockey teams like country clubs and never gets close to postseason success. He, and by extension the team he coaches, will always lack that gumption.

Unless there's just a team wide rash of injuries, I don't see any outcome in which the Kings don't win this. It's not about stats or lineups or any of that crap in this series - it's about who has the playoff testicles. The Kings win that by a score of 2-0.

As a matter of fact, the teams that have eliminated the ducks from the playoffs after their cup win have been....

The Stars
Wings
Predators
Wings

I think we are actually the first Contenders they've played since their cup year. Holy ****.

As much as I wanted to and as much as I hated their team I could not find a way to dislike the Sharks fan base on here. Which makes me worried… Am I going to come out of this next round thinking Ducks fans are cool? My world wouldn't make sense...

I can't take this vs. Ducks talk too seriously just yet, still reeling from last night. By late tonight/tomorrow I'll be ready to start speculating and predicting. However, as always, I am optimistic.

To be fair, that first Wings series you listed was in 09. When the Wings went to the Finals and lost in 7 to Pittsburgh. They'd also knocked out the #1 seed Sharks.

A lot of Ducks fans don't seem to know what they're up against. The usual/frequent posters know what's up, but there are a lot of them that think we're just the corsi-bad-shot-generating-machine from the Stadium Series game. Can't wait to see what happens :handclap:

I've gotten that vibe too. Like they're not intimidated from watching what we just did to dismantle the sharks.

That's okay. Just like I like my opponents. Good and unsuspecting.

Oh, I"m sure the DUcks themselves know and Boudreau is going to have them prepared--he has always been very respectful and flattering of the Kings--but some of these fans think it's December.

I know but it was in 09. 5 years ago. It's a long time.

I've been doing my best to remain civil and I will continue to do so. But I am tired of hearing them openly yap about how dirty our team is when they have nut spearing aficionado Perry on their roster. Pot meet kettle.

Yup. I just got finished reading their forum. They keep using the regular season as the benchmark. You'd think after the Kings making this kind of history, people would finally accept the Kings are a team built for the playoffs.

On a side note, someone here mentioned Gabby's facial expressions in the last 10 minutes of the game last night. I watched the game again and looked. Sure enough, he seemed in disbelieve at what was going on. He looked like a kid in the candy store unsure what to do. I have a hard time after making history with the Kings, and being on a cup contending team that he wouldn't resign next year. ;)

Why are you trying to be civil? First, it's the playoffs MAN!!!! Second, it's the ducks. This is no time to be civil! :D

I would only worry about scoring drying up , cause the Ducks are going to score. They cheat so much on offense it's almost comical. Perry is a huge cherry picker.

BUT i thought the Kings were classless....

They certainly know what's coming. You better believe the Ducks were watching the end of the Kings-Sharks series, L.A. erasing a 3-0 series hole.
"I mean, to tell you the truth, I felt bad for San Jose when I was watching," Getzlaf said. "It's one of those things where L.A. showed a lot of character and experience, that's the biggest thing, those guys have a lot of guys in their lineup that have won a Cup together. When you have that, you have that belief all the time."...."The guys in their lineup, I've played with a few of them, I've played against a lot of them for a long time, and the one thing I would say about that lineup is that they have guys that play the right way," the Ducks' captain said. "It's not a disrespectful game, they play hard, they play honest, much like I think our guys do in this locker room. So I expect that in this series."
