I remember watching Kopitar play his first few games as a rookie in 06/07, watching him blow by Chris Pronger like he was a pylon in his first NHL game, and thinking "this is the most talented hockey player to wear a Kings jersey since Gretzky." I knew it was only a matter of time until we had success after that.

Yes!

That was amazing and I thought it would be a great year...oops

but totally agreed, we knew that was the start of something special.

Carter and Mitchell not on ice today
I wonder what is going on with Carter. Only playing 14 minutes.
Hopefully we can dispose of the ducks quick and get some guys some rest

For a long stretch I remember when the most exciting part of Kings hockey was watching their scraps against the Ducks, Matt Johnson against Stu Grimson, wanting to see someone beat the crap out of the likes of Todd Ewen and David Karpa, seeing Brad Norton and Kip Brennan beat the life out of Kevin Sawyer, and not much else.

There was one Kings game I ever walked out of and it was when they got absolutely embarrassed by the Ducks at Staples Center. I was so disgusted by that performance that I had to leave the building with my friend (who was equally distraught). That was the game where Avery went after Corey Perry and Brian Hayward got his panties all twisted.

Living through that era of Kings hockey really tested a fans' loyalty, but it was worth sticking through all of that garbage to see them get to this point.

I remember that game and those fights. Probably why I became such a fight fanatic because the Kings teams thru the 90's and 20's barely went anywhere and missed the playoffs more than they made it, so the fights were the only thing I had to look forward to.

I remember following prospects like Jeff Shevalier when the Kings had an agreement with the Phoenix Roadrunners...back then they barely gave any of those kids a shot...They sucked anyways...but the Kings consistently played vet's over youth.

All I know is I've talked a massive amount of **** on the main boards about the Ducks being pretenders and the Kings are going to expose that, so they better win for my sake.

Sutter on the team's biggest challenge in the Ducks' series: "We're playing indoors." #NeverADullMoment #LAKings #Gem

No info on who will call anything past Game 1, but for Game 1 of Ducks/Kings, it'll be Brian Hayward with John Forslund on NBCSN.

I know this isn't popular, but when Hayward isn't going full homer on the Ducks broadcasts, he's actually pretty good.

I am going to refrain from completely going off on you because you made my awesome avatar and I am forever grateful. Just please know how much restraint I am having right now.

Fully agreed. He was great on neutral broadcasts. The challenge will be if he can remove the homerism for a national broadcast involving the Ducks. Doubt it.
