GDT: Kings Training Camp 2022/2023!

Did the PP have the same basic set-up it’s had forever with Kopitar on the half wall? It just surprises me they haven’t been more aggressive in trying to being in right shot forwards to play the left circle on the PP.

They were walking the game group through it this morning. We watched the coaching staff put them all in position, walk through break outs, neutral zone progression then watched them run it over and over and over again.

At no point was Kopitar on the right side half wall but they did seem to be running two different formations from the d zone through the neutral zone depending on who was out there.

I didn't see anything from practice in the first period there but they never really went back to set it up from their own zone so... time will tell I suppose.

God Helenius is f***ing massive

I know I've said it before in various places but I refuse to believe Helenius is only 6'6

There's just no way he isn't taller than that.

Yes. I would pay any amount of money to get out of being punched in the face by him. He is terrifying.

I don’t hate Kopitar on the half wall. That is what many teams do when their best playmaker is a left hand shot. (A fact kind of looked over when people complain about him on the half-wall). But unlike with Kane, Kucherov, Backstrom there isn’t the right shot threat across the ice. I think the half wall is where Kopi wants to be, even Bernie Nicholls said that in his interview on SC. It’s just surprising the Kings have never tried to build the roster more to accommodate that. With the way the roster is constructed now with so many left shots it makes more sense to have him either at the point or closer to the goal-line.

The right shots that Kopitar has played with throughout his career have never really been guys who are PP snipers.

The Kings haven’t looked impressive any game I’ve seen or heard of this off-season.

Eh on that note I’m not gonna watch this game anymore. I think I can find something better to do with my time rather than watch this boring uninspired performance.
