But doesn't the fact that the organization didn't make the moves necessary to create a spot for him, despite 100+ NHL games, a season after falling out of favor raise significant red flags?

I mean, again, how many other teams have ever handled a player like this? A 1st round pick spends 2 seasons in the NHL at 19 and 20 and then doesn't make the team out of camp at 21? That is just an extremely unusual and alarming path for a player to take. Has there been anyone come out of a situation like this for the better?

No, i'ts not alarming, given they made a deadline move for a veteran as well, and since they love playing waiver games...

youre trying as hard as you can to see it as a negative. Sure, they could keep him on as the #6-#7 like last year oorrrrrr they could let him be the #1-#2 in ontario to develop.

You know me, I like to see proven successful paths for handling young players, and I am just struggling to come up with previous ones that worked out where a guy goes backwards after 105 NHL games.

We will see though. We know the Kings don't handle young players the way most teams do.

Doesn’t seem like Petersen knows what he’s playing for. Should be tied but damn dude. Play with some f***ing pride.
I'm still waiting on him to impress me, even just a little bit. I'd rather have Erik Ersberg at this point, for f***'s sake.
