Goaltending could really derail the Kings chances this season.

We're going to be completely reliant on a soon to be 37 year old who's played one full season in the past six years.

Unfortunately, Cal has just got progressively worse.

Spence is having a somewhat rough second half.

Trying not to worry as it's preseason, but there are some red flags.

Peterson is making it real easy to know which games I'm skipping this year. And I don't mean going to the game, I mean all together. He's f****** worthless, and they're not worth watching if they put him in net.

I can’t get over how bad Petersen is. How do people find ways to defend him? We have so many dmen just f***ing make a trade. Lol

I think it’s no coincidence that him being paired with Walker is making him play worse and potentially overcompensate in his play. Walker hasn’t looked good so far in any game where Spence without him has.

It really is painful watching Roy knuckle f*** the puck in the offensive zone.

I was hoping the buyout calculator would provide some good news. But if he is bought out after this season it would result in a 5.16 million hit for next season and $1.6 hits in 25-26 and 26-27.
Its prob too embarrassing (and damning) for a GM to buyout a contract in the first year.. you could get 1m of cap relief by waiving him and let him 'find' his game in the A. That at least gets him away from the team so the stink can wear off and also recover a little cap.

Huh. Turns out we don't need a top pairing LHD, we need backup goalie.

My way too early and overly pessimistic prediction for this year, if Peterson is the backup all year, we don't make the playoffs.

But they'd have to either call up a farm goalie or sign a veteran, so the cap relief would be minimal. But it maybe does at least let him try and find his game if he plays again like he did last season.

I normally don't place much value in pre-season games (good or bad) but for a goalie it is a little bit different, especially one coming off a season as disappointing as CP's was.

A few of us here said goaltending would be the biggest problem last season. Quick is one bad splits away from ending up on IR. Blake needs to dump Petersen and find a solution.
