GDT: Kings Training Camp 2022/2023!

The Kings org is pretty dang deep from 1-low 30s, they might be unrivaled in that regard. It really helps when injuries hit, but the need for consolidation of assets is pretty obvious.

Oh no, I was definitely worried about Nate Thompson, all those posts are about me.

Jokes on you guys though, that means I get to celebrate this afternoon.

People acting like the Kings don’t have insane throat game for past kings. People were worried because it’s an LA Kings thing to do. The fact people act like the Kings don’t spread their legs for anyone who’s had like any previous association with the team is crazy to me.

Lest ye forget about Devin Setoguchi, Brandon Prust, and Brooks Laich.

The Kings have broken camp with some awful players throughout the years, even on years they ended up doing great.

The first cup year it was Moreau and Hunter, neither belonged in the NHL. Neither played another NHL game after the Kings finally moved on.

The 2nd year the Kings won the cup the 2nd line somehow featured 2 players who were barely hanging on in the league in Richards and Frattin to start the year.

Thompson would have been a new low though. I never really thought he had any chance to make the team, he was barely NHL caliber his last time here. Great dude but if he still wants to play hockey it will be in the AHL.
---------------

As for players still around, I guess the big question on all of this is when VA is slated to return?

With Clarke playing with Edler are we leaning towards 8 d-man until VA returns?

Once VA returns then is it a decision on whether to send Clarke back to the OHL and keep GV and JAD as the healthy scratches. Or to waive JAD and keep 8 d-man for at least 9 games with GV as the lone extra forward?

I definitely noticed that ever since Gabe was demoted last year I don't think I'd seen him smile once. Even when he was called up late last season and scored, he would hardly celebrate. Contrast that with his rookie season where he seemed very passionate and was always smiling and celebrating goals enthusastically. Hopefully we can get that rookie Gabe back this season.

Shocker. I’m stunned anyone even entertained the notion that he was there for any reason other than professional courtesy and a warm body if they needed it in a preseason game.

It was highly unlikely he would have been considered for Ontario and I have to assume anyone thinking he was even being remotely entertained as a possible King is currently wearing a hat made of tin foil.

Still holding out hope he replaces QB on opening night:

So do we think it is significant that Ingham has stayed up and Villalta has been sent down? Copley has obviously stayed up also.

Here's your lineup tonight; just saw it on Twitter.

Fiala – Kopitar – Kempe
Moore – Danault – Vilardi
Andersson – Kupari – Kaliyev
Lemieux – JAD – Grundstrom

Walker – Roy
Edler – Clarke
Björnfot – Spence
Moverare

Petersen
Villalta
Copley
JAD over Lizotte?

seems more related to this though i haven't seen anything else on it

Villalta could post another .875 and they'll sign him to an extension.

injured (or suspended players) can't be assigned to the AHL

He'll presumably start the season on Season Opening IR and ultimately find his way back to Ontario or Greenville.
