I'm just gonna shake two forecheckers because I don't feel like being on my forehand.

Kopitar with 22 mins toi. Doughty with 25 toi. Sheesh. Just the preseason.

Feel good about the team. Plenty to be excited for this year. Little worried that the 🦆 aren't a good measuring stick. Still guys like Clarke, Vilardi, Kopi looking great. Good depth up front & on D.

You guys have the chilliest GDT's. I get nothing but good vibes from this group.

So happy to see Clarke doing his thing. My man Arthur looks solid as well. That shot is bonkers but he looks more agile/faster which bodes well for the future. It was only a matter of time before both broke out.
Oh this is preseason and one of our new toys is exciting. Come back in 2 months and it will be a dumpster fire lol

Yeah I mean I said in my first post that he has lost every spot he would've had a shot at. I agree he hasn't been good enough. Kupari and Vilardi both looks miles ahead of him, and Lizotte took the 4th line C role we thought JAD might take.
It's really not poor asset management when a player gets passed by somebody else. Kings kept JAD around in case he does show he belongs with the big club. Unfortunately, he can't outplay Blake f'n Lizotte. And now Kupari, Kaliyev, maybe even Turcotte comes along so Kings will say bye bye. I do believe JAD will clear waivers anyway.

Who gets cut today? My guess is all the AHL guys minus Tynan. I also think JAD survives for now. Maybe Copley stays because Cal is still recovering from his minor injury.

It would be hilarious if Vilardi actually comes back to be the best of our original big three center prospects.
He's got the talent for it. As with Byfield, Vilardi needs to find a way to make his presence felt every game. So far in training camp it appears he's done that.

I'm hoping the high minutes for Kopi & DD is simply to force feed them minutes in this one game to get in close to regular season shape. And going forward in the preseason games, this won't continue. That's the only way that I can spin the 22/25 minutes TOI.

Yep, Kaliyev looking great...unfortunately if there is one thing I've learned from frequenting these boards is that the Kings org is incapable of developing an impact forward. Therefore, AK is destined to suck.

Hilarious, yes...surprising, no. It would just be a fine example of HF community having zero patience with player development.

Over 6 and 8min of special teams time though. ES minutes weren't outrageous.

Fagemo isn't making the team yet, but if you're going to play him, why only 8min total?

Doubt you find many coaches that wouldn't play Kopitar a bunch. Even recent guys he's been compared to, Zetterberg, Bergeron, they're still playing a ton of minutes in their mid-30's. It's what coaches do.

Once Danault took time away from every C except Kopitar, it made me quit the topic. I don't know if anyone doesn't want to see other C's get some minutes, but if TM ain't gonna do it, then who are debating around here? If the coach is set on leaning on an aging Kopitar, what's to discuss?

Some interesting insights from Gabe Vilardi after yesterday's game:

"On the increased puck movement on the power play
In all honesty, it’s not a lot of me out there, I’m in front of the net and I’m really just trying to create attention and try to find that that backdoor space. But yeah, they were moving around really fast and I’m in more of a recover the puck mode, just trying to create space for other guys by being almost like a distraction and bringing guys in. You kind of saw that on Juice’s goal today, I guess. We’ve been working on that and I actually really liked it, it looks good."

So they had Gabe as the net-front guy last night in a sort of Dustin Brown role. Gabe is a big guy at 6'3" and listed at 215 lbs. Pretty much gonna block out the sun and be hard to move. In the Kempe goal he can be seen right in front of the goalie creating a distraction. He doesn't touch the puck or get a point, but he's doing exactly his role in the power play here.

For all those posters that were super angry about Dustin Brown's production on the power play last season, this is an example of a player serving a purpose without getting on the score sheet.

Clarke was moved to Group B for today's practice.

Personally, while I can see the undeniable quality to his game, Clarke needs to add some strength and a bit of zip to his first step. Wouldn't mind seeing him sent down, especially since Spence is realistically ahead of him and frankly already the 4th/5th best defender on the team.

I completely disagree. He’s going to have imperfections for sure but his skillset and his abilities are beyond NHL level. He needs to stick it out and improve in the NHL rather than be sent down to improve on the small imperfections.

It’s like turning down a free supercar because one of the wheels has some small curb rash.

There's gonna be a bunch of posters here who will piss their pants with anger if Clarke gets sent back, but they're ignoring the fact that he may not be physically ready for the NHL. He's listed at 6"2, but only 185 lbs., so he's not exactly a tank out there. Is he ready for the type of contact and physicality of the NHL? I guess that's what the 9 games are for.

One thing he has going for him is his ability to escape contact with deception. Very little panic, like Doughty, and can get checkers to miss regularly.
