Gaborik I understand, but Setoguchi at least gives his all out there. He actually checks too. When Gaborik isn't scoring he's invisible.

you know who else gives their all and checks too? nolan, clifford, andreoff, shore, dowd, lewis and brown. he's redundant if he's not on a top line scoring... if pirri or grabner were signed here they'd have been waived with his performance but he's from alberta and knows the coach.

The Kings have lost four in a row, and their last regulation win was against St. Louis.

Watch the Devils shut them out tomorrow and Darryl blame goaltending for the loss.

Maybe your expectations of Setoguchi are too high? Hes not the scorer he was in San Jose. He was signed to be in the same group you listed, not the top 6.

Nolan our savior and destroyer.

raw

I think this is pretty accurate. Takes a bad penalty, hits the post, scores a goal, blast a slapshot pass to Marty from inside our blueline that explodes off his stick, leads to a turnover and a goal. Out for the final minute....

no. they ruined that team with changes leading to gallant giving up. the players their GM all obtained were busts and the coach got fired. seems very similar.

I thought about this too . If only Dean believed in players that never played for him. Grabner would've been a better choice than Purcell and Seto looking back now.

Zatkoff has some absolutely terrible body language. Could tell he was blaming that first goal on his teammates for the turnover and then Gravel for screening him. Just swimming all over the place. Can't imagine Zatkoff plays more than 3 games the rest of the season with or without Quick being back.

That was my first thought. Labarbera 2.0. Get this ****ing joker off the team. I NEVER say that about a player but this guy is bad performance AND bad attitude to the extreme.

Zatkoff is a guaranteed L whenever he suits up. Too bad Budaj is only human and needs recovery time.

That said, a lot of you posters sound as hyperbolic as my brother, who thinks that every smart person he knows is a genius, and any disappointment he faces is the worst thing ever. The Kings aren't winning and it sucks. But Lombardi isn't the worst GM ever who got lucky or whatever seems to be the sentiment. The expansion draft is really screwing with whatever trade market would normally be out there.

Or talking about buying out Kopitar.

Just picked a really really bad time for a losing streak.

But believe it or not I still have faith a lot is gonna turn around after the ASG.

The 4 forwards on the ice at the end of the game were Shore, Clifford, Nolan and Lewis. Show me another NHL team that does this.

As was said, these are the first guys on the team this year to score with the goalie pulled. They should put them out on a PP or two. I just don't get why we keep complaining about them. They're a luxury to point the finger at. The issue has neon lights flashing, and you can see it from space.

37 year old Marleau had 4 goals in a period. Kopitar hasn't scored a goal in 37 of 41 games, and Gaborik in 21 of 25 games.

First he pouted his way off the ice after his last loss, then his little fit after goal 1 is not what you want from your back up.

Probably the worst time. All the teams fighting for the Wild card spot are winning and were losing. 2 weeks ago I think we were out of 3rd place by 4 points with games in hand, today we're 12 points out and 3 points behind in the WC.

Kings were already cursed with two terrible contracts in Brown and Gaborik but now Kopitar.

And what a greedy pos to demand 10 million knowing that would cost the Kings Lucic and cap flexibility. He really couldn't take 8 or 9?

yeah, what a greedy loser. what kind of elite, two way, Selke caliber center gets a contract like that? only a materialistic butthole does

Toews' contract didnt stop Bowman from assembling a multiple cup winning team. players of Kopi's and Drew's caliber will always get paid big bucks

If anything, blame Kopi's agent for getting the max amount he could've gotten. That's what agents are there to do, its their job. There was nothing DL could have done better with that Kopi contract, the dude was gonna get paid no matter what. There's no sense in harping about it now, we just have to hope this year is a fluke and he doesn't completely drop off for good.

the difference is chicago runs their club like you know a sports team. but LA has their "family". they play for our entertainment we don't watch for their comfortable retirement when the contract is signed.

You explain to your wife why you turned down an extra couple million dollars a year.

Toews and Kane's contracts didn't kick in until last year.

They're a first-round exit, just like us.

Weird.

Yup. Plus Chicago got to the 3rd round in 2009 and won in 2010 with both Kane and Toews in the last 2 years of their ELC's. The Kings won in 2014 in Brown's last year of his previous deal. Also both Muzzin and Martinez had $1m cap hits. Gaborik at 50% was less than he's taking up now.

Don't blame Kopitar, his agent, or Lombardi, for that $10m contract. Kopitar doesn't owe the franchise anything. He has to look out for himself and his family. Lombardi is in a no win situation. You're not just going to find another, cheaper Kopitar out there somewhere, and the cap is a zero-sum game. The $3m raise Kopitar got, the $3m raise Brown got, that's another good player he can't pay. So far, in the first year of both of those new deals, the Kings haven't gotten an extra $3m worth of a player in either case. $3m more for Muzzin and Martinez. There's $12m on the cap just to break even at best. Throw Quick in there too of you want. That's $16m in raises, and none of the players have gotten better since signing those big deals.

But that's the cap world. Have to work around that, with smart trades, and a consistent stream of prospects. That's the tough part though.
