It seems that he was a long shot to have a successful NHL career when he was drafted, but has taken significant strides since then and improved his offensive game over the last two seasons. I'm sure he's still an underdog in terms of being an impact player, but all things considered, you have to like his body of work in the last 24 months.

Brief interviews with Matt Roy from a few days ago after their championship win. See around 2:13 and 4:21 (GWG pass).

Word on Matt Roy, he's already in Ontario. Glad he's getting underway and foregoing
his SR year.

First Team WCHA All Star. Former King Gary Shuchuk was asst coach at Mich Tech and
has said a lot of good things about Roy. Lots of tweets here, including Shuchuk, Yanetti, and another scout. ALso has a gif of a big open ice hit from him in final game vs Denver U.

https://twitter.com/mayorNHL

Yannetti on Roy- "Driven. One of our top 3 dev players. That's special because he had to do on his own, we can't pay or provide him a thing"

More Yannetti - Excellent in battle situations. Wide bodied, provides presence, w/ structure. Doesn't run around/chase to initiate contact

Yannetti on Roy- "Efficient. Smart & purposeful passing. Makes simple plays w/out being basic. Gets pucks to right options & the right time"

Scout - "His skating, ie lateral agility, has improved dramatically. As a result his game w/ puck both in transition & on pp has taken off"

More from scout on Matt Roy - "He is a natural leader."

Per NHL scout, re: @mattroy6 - "Was one of top dmen in WCHA last 2 yrs, has solid defensive instincts to go along with a physical presence"

Spoke to @gshuchuk re: new Kings signee @mattroy6 - "Great kid, first off, and a team player. Plays with an edge, but in control (continued

More from Shuchuk on Roy - "Sees ice very well. Good first pass, movement, gap control, shot from the point, & gets puck through to the net"

More from Gary Shuchuk on new LA Kings signee Matt Roy - "He was our best defenseman, by far. Going to be a good pro. Plays tough!

Sounds quite promising. 26 points too and #1 on team only had 28.
It's good to know that since Gravel and Ladue have moved up, that
Ontario will have Roy...and maybe the year after that, Clague and
Moverare will be coming up too.

great read from Rosen too. Lots of quotes from Mike Donnelly

Abbreviated summary:

- Steven Johnson won't be signed and will return to the University of Minnesota to complete his senior year. Unless he has a standout season, I would be surprised if the Kings signed him next year.

- Chaz Reddekopp might be signed and will be eligible to play in the AHL next season if he is signed.

- The Kings are one of many teams trying to sign college free agent Spencer Foo. I want to hear Bob Miller say "Foo Foo Foo, Spencer Foo!" before he retires.

With Hamilton eliminated and Luff turning 20 soon, I wonder what the odds of him joining Ontario are? I think he had 9 pts in the 7 game series. His shot is pretty wicked, just as lethal as Toffoli's at that age.

Likely he will be in town soon as a Black Ace, and maybe he get's to play, especially once the team has locked up a playoff spot. He had a pretty extended training camp, which earned him a contract.

Watched part of the Regina game last night. All I have to say is holy **** Wagner can fly. I know they said he was fast, but I didn't think he was that fast.

Kempe has wheels, but Wagner is like his own level. He's like lightning out there.

Just started: prospect Austin Wagner and his Regina Pats vs. The Swift Current Broncos in a playoff game broadcasting on NHL Network.

good to hear...and Wagner has 6 goals in 6 playoff games, so good to know
he's not only has afterburners, but putting pucks on the net!

I think, in looking at the draft lists, there will either be a faller from the top-6ish or Tippett will be available. That is, the talent won't dry up by then. If it does, Suzuki :) We're good.

Wonder if LA has any interest in Regina goalie Tyler Brown
