Both Watson goals were awesome.

The hands on the second one were pretty ridiculous, but I'm more impressed with that first stop cut he made that got him all that space in the first place.

Yeah, Toffoli-lite maybe, where he'll never burn you with speed but skating is deceptive enough to make things happen.

I shall call him... Wheels.

If you watch the entire clip on the WHL site Wagner pulls away ridiculously quickly.

Both he and Watson are scoring goals like crazy when it matters, they've both played 13 playoff games and have 25 goals between them.

Jacob Moverare had 1+1 and a +3 in a 7-0 Mississauga win, 39 points and a +38 in 78 games is pretty good for a not yet 19 year old, albeit on a superstar team.

Pretty impressive sweep into the finals for them.

Watson was out because of injury in Regina's last win, not sure why. Probably sustained in practice or pre-game because he was ready to go the day before.

Best case scenario.......

We win the draft lottery, Watson & Wagner make the team, and we ice an all-rookie line of....

Wagner / Patrick / Watson

Then we can start to find places to put our over-paid/underachievers......

It is extremely unlikely that Wagner and Watson have the ability to jump directly into the NHL. They may never even play in the NHL. Let's see what they can do as a pro first before jumping on that bandwagon.

I think both have a solid chance to make it, but will require at least a couple years in the AHL. Amadio is a better prospect than both of them and he certainly couldn't have jumped right in.

But hey:

Watson
Wagner
Brodzinski
Kempe

It's been a long time since the Kings have had some potential firepower in the pipeline rather than just a bunch of 2-way lunch pail types. We will see who pans out.

This is true. And honestly, Mikey Eyssimont should be in that group, as well as Iafallo.

It's JR hockey,

Trevor Lewis scored 35 goals in 56 games in JR's. Then added another 20 goal season in the AHL.

Yeah...I'm not expecting 20 goals out of Wagner but I am expecting speed and heavy forecheck.

Kings lack all three of those things so I'll be perfectly content with the latter two.

If Wagner is another Trevor Lewis, the Kings will be fortunate.

I think he might end up with slightly more offense than Lewis, just not as savvy on the defensive side. If he hits his absolute ceiling he might end up like a Chris Kreider, they have very similar combination of size and skill sets. Another Lewis would be just fine though, especially at his draft slot.

Regina lost in OT, ending their season. Wagner finished with 16 goals in 22 postseason games, and 46 goals in 86 games overall.

Wagner had 87 points in 86 games, which translates historically into 22 points in a full NHL season for players coming from the WHL if they went directly to the NHL. And that's not going to happen, but it will be interesting if he can put points on the board next year in ONT.

I think Wagner's numbers will benefit from smarter players who can get him the puck quicker. I don't think 40+ points in his first full AHL season would be out of reach. His raw tools make him probably the juniors prospect most suited to the NHL game.

Watson put up better numbers, well over a ppg, but I think he'll have a tougher time of it in the NHL. I think his AHL numbers will be fine. The wild card is if he fills out. He's always been seen as small, but if he fills out he will be about the size of Mike Richards.

There's no top talent, but I think the Kings are going to have a really good group of middle-6ers in a few years.
