The Caps are capable of improvising on the fly. The Kings rely on brute force and shot volume.

It's been all Caps. The last big stop Grubauer had to make was on Brown right at the doorstep. Kings haven't mustered much since then.

This is an offensively challenged team that has a mountain to climb in order to net 3+ goals against competent competition.

Kopi, Doughty, and Carter. That's it.

The "problem" with the Kings offense is they take no chances to score. So, essentially only highly skilled players that can beat the goaltender will score. Other teams will send 3-4 guys to the net on a rush, Kings usually have 1 maybe 2 max. That's why you see Kopitar beating the D into the zone and circling the net and back out to the point -- there's either no one in front of the net or 1 guy covered by 3. Other teams when losing the puck in the offensive zone will leave a guy in front of the net hoping for a turnover on the breakout and a golden scoring chance. The Kings never do that.

DL/DS hockey.

The missed call on Doughty happened pretty fast. Muzzin's stick was in the area. Have to play through missed calls.

The Caps have played solid. The Kings have had mental mistakes.

I'm ready for a coaching change. I'll let DS ride it out this year out of respect for the 2 cups he helped us win. But I'm really hoping he decides to retire in the summer. I want a system that can utilize Toffoli and Pearson more.

I don't even care if the Kings lose today. I just want them to adapt quickly and push back. Get back to the details.

The problem isn't Sutter. Was Sutter on the ice for the blown coverage? What about the bad pass to McNabb to lead to the 2-on-0? Did Sutter make that pass?

Brown never acts like a ***** when he gets lit up with a big hit. Take note, Oshie.

Why have we been wearing our home jerseys on this trip? Did the equipment manager **** up?

I think it's because the Flyers wanted to wear their white 50th Anniversary jerseys in yesterday's game. Arrangements would be made with the other teams played on this trip to wear their white jerseys, so the Kings don't have to bring both black and white sets on the road.

My post was beyond this game.

Still, the problem is not Sutter. Kopitar, Toffoli, & Quick all injured for significant periods, and the Kings in the 1st wild card spot is pretty damn good if you ask me. Only 6 points behind the Oilers with 2 games in hand for 3rd in the division. Despite the circumstances, Sutter has done well with the hand this team has been dealt this season.

Carter in the slot wide open, Gaborik in the slot wide open, Toffoli in the slot wide open...

Just because they aren't going in doesn't mean the chances don't exist.

We're getting the version of Budaj today that appears when under seige. Great volume goaltender when protected, won't make the big saves Quick will.

What happened to Muzzin?

Looks like he had his arm tweaked when Oshie decided he was mad and they got locked up

We're starting to play better, but just a little. I like that the hitting is picking up. Might all be too little too late, but I'd like to see us push back and hit more for the rest of the game. The more we upset the crowd the better.

Naw. He's done well, but not well enough for me. Our horrible record (horrible for a so-called contending team) in regulation is enough to convince me that it is time for a new coaching staff. The struggles against our big rivals, Ana and SJ, in recent years are also inexcusable for me.
