Well we have that supposed 1-2 centre depth and we're still a middling team. So how "HUGE" is he really? Last 3 years with PLD what's our pts% rank?

Then consider we have a great goalie too, which MTL does not. It is important to have a good 1-2, as well as defense, overall fwd depth and goaltending. MTL needs all that still. I don't think they should be emptying the cupboards for PLD at this point with so much of the roster needing work.
Where would we be without a decent 1/2C? Imagine how much worse.

The problem with any of these requirements that we are talking about is that they're almost impossible to aquire if you don't have them. Just think about how long we've been looking for a stud 1RD... imagine if the opportunity to grab one came up... do you pass? Would ypu pass I'd you weren't at the exact right spot in your rebuild?

I would never pass up the opportunity to nail down high end centre depth, goaltending, OR a big minute munching d man. You might never get a second chance

The Jets would look alot like they look right now. Schiefele is pretty much invisible most nights right now and look at the results the Jets have been getting while he is playing like this.

IMO Scheifele has not been the same player since he broke up with his girlfriend / was named as one of the players that had score cards in every city.

Unsure about Scheifele, as I've heard rumours I care not to disclose. It just seems he peaked in 2017-18. He was money in the bank that playoff run. I knew he had some legal issues (civil) with the personal chef suing him for unpaid wages in 2019.

Last year during exit interviews he acted as if he wanted out of Winnipeg. I guess we have to wait and see how things play out.

When is the season ticket renewal deadline?
Didn't see a response to this, may have missed it, but I'll take the opportunity to respond and then move on to frustrations.

Season ticket renewal deadline was March 10th.

I am responsible for a group and jumped on it pretty early to see if they'd all renew. We lost one guy, gained another and guys stepped up so I don't have to take 15 games still (down to 10). So I responded pretty early for renewal and rather substantially regret it. The plus side is it's just one year, with the contracts now gone. So I'm in for one more season.

For what it's worth you have to inform TNSE between February 1 and March 1 that you are NOT renewing. I know this because I specifically went looking to see if I could back out of my seasons after the Sharks loss at home (my 4th loss in a row in attendance). So I missed the window for escaping renewal and as such I'm still a STH.

After next year, regardless of the outcome I will be dropping my tickets. It's too much of a pain in the ass now. My job requires a lot more travel than it used to and you cannot sell tickets for what you pay as a STH. Worse, my section (103) is a season the Jets retain seats in for promotional things - parents of players, groups of singers, etc. to attend the game. So there's a glut of tickets in my section for cheap as TNSE undercuts what I can charge to move tickets (yes, I have pointed this out to them repeatedly and will do so again in the year end survey).

It is very, very easy to get tickets to ALL games, including Montreal and Toronto (I think there were more Bruins jerseys at the Friday night game than I've ever seen Leafs jerseys, which is mind bogglingly bad). I will still buy a five pack of games that includes no pre-season games, possibly two packs, so I'll still be supporting the team. But they do so much to piss off full season ticket holders at this point (cheap tickets + a beer on Tuesdays) that there really is no merit, especially with the only real benefit being access to playoff tickets. They did at least deliver on the STH gift this year - a small cooler bag; last year we were supposed to receive something but it never happened - that may or may not be more insulting than the cheap as shit luggage tag from years prior. But don't get me wrong, I'm not really after "stuff". I'd like to not be paying more than casual fans sitting beside me for one thing.

More importantly than anything else I want to feel like the millionaires on the ice that make as much in a game or two as I do in a year are actually giving a shit, making an effort and giving a damn. That seems to be far too much to expect out of this group for all but about four months of this season (Oct-Jan), otherwise since Buff left there have been problems with attitude. I know others have said they would rather see a poor team trying than these talented guys effing the dog on the ice. I feel the same. Really, I would. I understand entirely that is not the case for most people, they want big names, success. But the big names with bad attitudes and marginal success is less appealing to me.

There is a ton of talent on the Jets roster. I'm ok with Connor struggling, but it would be nice to see him making effort in other parts of the game. PLD likely has an injury he's recovering from. We know Ehlers did/does. Wheeler frustrates me, but only because of where the coaches insist on putting him. His effort in general is always there, but he's a liability now and needs to play down the lineup. Scheifele? If I could put him on a rocket and shoot his sorry ass into space I'd do it in a heartbeat and I thought he was going to be a lifelong Jets, on the level of Hawerchuk, but he's basically toxic at this point, ignoring his play from Oct-Jan. He was my favorite Jet for quite some time and I have an auto'd jersey of his. It pisses me off to see it right now.

I don't know what the problem with the Jets locker room is but it has to be addressed or my money walks away. Thought it was the coach, apologies to Maurice, apparently not. Give me GST back. They were awful but they left their hearts on the ice each game.

Since it's the post-GDT thread I thought they tried, for one period. Again. Go figure, you can't win many games with 20 minutes of effort. Some guys played pretty well (Josh, PLD), some guys tried hard (Ehlers, Lowry) and some did stupid things. Pretty standard and expected play since the all-star break.

Oh and could we please fix the powerkill? My goodness but it's embarrassing. Yes, we potted one after four minutes. Woo-woo.

What does "score cards in every city" mean?
It was a thing Biz talked about on his podcast...named Scheifele as one of the notorious guys in the league that had girls on speed dial in every single city. Mentioned Sequin as one of the other guys. Biz alluded they kept score.

Here are two teams that came ready to play at the start of the game.

List three players on the jets that give even 50% of the f&cks that these two contenders give. Our team simply doesn't give a shit. full stop.

Bowness looks exasperated in his post game talk.
he can be exasperated all he wants...... until he starts healthy scratching players or benching them, he's part of the problem.

Vezina quality

Im fairly certain that's replacement level?

So, to yet again stress, I am not excusing the team in front of him. I'm questioning why we are , again, thinking he's not included in their criticism. Since December the team has been shit, and despite any horseshit narratives, our goaltender has been shit too

Current league average is .904, per the following:

So .909 is not only above replacement level, it's above league average.

A further reminder that every year, the Vezina winning goalie will have about 1/6th of their fifteen-game stretches with a league average SV%, through literally nothing more than random chance alone. This is what happens when you take small sample sizes with 'average' stats, especially one that takes ~2,000 shots or so to get a good reading.

But that's not what I wanted to talk about.

Again, I've seen you talk about how arrogant Hellebuyck is.

In this article, Murat Ares (who knows the Jets much better than you or I) describes Hellebuyck as "emotionally intelligent, he's well spoken, and he's passionate about mental health."

This, more than anything, is what I'm hoping to reach you on. You're a dead loss when it comes to numbers, that's fine. But this. Hellebuyck really isn't the Tkachuk-level arrogant prick you're portraying him as.

This is the first time in my Jets 2.0 fandom that IDGAF. Apathy has set in, blow this shit up.

The part that makes me even more frustrated was that glimmer of hope before the All Star Weekend.
Same here. First time since being a Jets Fan I don't care what is happening. It hurts to admit but I feel like this core is so very much done.

Would really like to know what has happened to Scheifele in the second half of the season, the first half of the season he was playing very good hockey. Maybe having to play with Wheeler has something to do with it but right now he doesn't look like he's trying very hard during games. I have a hard time seeing what Bowness see's in playing Wheeler so high in the lineup, Barron, Namestnikov could easily do what Wheeler is doing just faster and not falling down as much. Our offensive game plan to skate into the zone , stop , pass back to the point DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE OTHER THAN MORRISSEY NONE OF OUR DEFENSEMEN CAN EVEN COME CLOSE TO HITTING THE NET. The PP is as hilarious as saying Helly is part of the problem with the Jets. Rant over.

Wheeler only played 15:21 FTR. He’s basically played 3rd line minutes with PP time.

Scheif did nothing whatsoever with 19 mins and Connor just skated around the perimeter for most of his 20 mins. Did make a beauty pass to set up Dubois.
Just a couple of games ago Wheeler had the most minutes on the Jets, he's getting too much ice time and playing too high in the lineup pure and simple. I totally agree about Scheifele and Connor, they are doing nothing right now and it's beyond frustrating.

Very nicely put from one of the normal fans. I have missed so much hockey that I am detached from the new old problem but what I am hearing from some of the guys that are what I judge as moderate optimist types (realists) makes me a bit sad and yes somewhat angry.

You're the one that emphasized HUGE. it's so huge it's gotten us to a monumental 19th in pts% since 2020. Great!

They'd be impossible for us bc our GM barely trades in the offseason and can't get FAs here. For other teams it's plausible. PLD is under a ppg player if he was an elite superstar, sure. But that's not the case.
I'm sure mtl would love to have him but emptying the cupboards for him with so many glaring holes I don't think is wise. Imo they'll send an offer if Chevy says no they'll just take their chance in FA next year with him.

Fefe needs to go! I have seen enough. It is utterly shocking how his game has morphed into this careless BS massive fail to the eye ball test. He is letting his teammates down!!!

Yet another -1 out of 5

Which means another weird Devito

1679839664851.gif

Connor is as good as a wet nap just about now. Seems to of lost all confidence at doing anything on the ice.
Wheeler now qualifies for senior discounts hence Wheezer is as fitting as ever.
Baron is beastly how has he not earned PP time for example is a a disgrace!
Our PP has never looked worse, ever!
Bowness is either stupid as shit or his hand is being forced by political horse crap

Cannot wait for Blue Bomber season to begin!

HEY CHIPMAN YOU F’ED UP KEEPING THE OLD BOYS CLUB TIGHT BUT YOUR HOCKEY TEAM IS A BLOODY JOKE!

Looks like a lot of posters are just dumping on Schiefele and Wheeler. Schiefele has tied his career high for goals in a season, yet you want to vilify him and leave Connor Kyle out of your mouths, despite KC having 19 less goals than last year.

Hey, no problem with people being mad at this team but just picking out a couple of players to tar and feather is silly.
They ALL equally suck the big one other than JoMo. Is this better?

I didn't watch the game yesterday, as I was busy dealing with my nephew's memorial service and a sudden life altering event. I see the Jets failed again. They have to do changes this offseason. They have to. They tried the coach, and it worked for 3 months. You need to change the complexion of the top end players on the team. I also think coach's systems are playing into it as well. There are cycling and grinding down low, then passing the puck to the point for a point shot. They are easily frustrated. It's boring hockey.

OK, so where does this team land without PLD and Schief in the line up? I guess we may see next season. You may be hardening back to this playoff race as "the good old days" when we had centre depth

Kirby Dach and a mid 1st round pick isn't "emptying the cupboards" by any stretch
