WTF is your problem with me? Who is "gloating"? Do you even know what that means?

Centre depth IS huge. So is goaltending and D. That's why when you agave a chance to aquire any of them, you do it.

We'll be in their position soon enough. Maybe then you'll realize the rarity of a 25 year old skilled power centre falling on your lap.
Holy crap for a boomer you're sensitive AF. In your op you're taking about spending your life taking to habs fans about centre depth as if it's something To be proud of.

Remind me again was pld on this team when we went to the wcf in 17-18? It's almost like you can build rosters that are good without him or a power forward center. Who had PLD, and won two years ago head to head?

The last thing I am is sensitive (or a "boomer"). Gen x all the way.

Maybe you've forgotten how everyone was looking for an upgrade on Little and how chevy spent 1st round picks more than once to bring in Statsny and Hayes because we were too thin down the middle.

If we had a PLD in 17-18, we might have won. And we'd still have the players those 1st round picks that chevy dealt turned into. Right about now they'd be contributors on this team if we'd hit on the picks (no guarentees on that).

I've always wondered how that off-season affected this team... when Chevy wouldn't give Stas the extra term and he ditched for Vegas. To me, that was a huge turning point.

You should be a groundskeeper the way you succinctly move the goal posts.

First it was you posting
We'll be in their position soon enough, (assuming this is rebuild) , without PLD.

Meanwhile we
-went to the wcf without PLD or a power forward at top 6C, along with another 99 pt season.
-lost head to head against MTL while we had pld
-have been 19th best team in the NHL since he's been here

PLD is not a franchise changer. He's a good player. Nice skill set. Tries hard sometimes, but our best seasons have come without him

If this was Helle. Sure I buy it. We'd be a bottom 5-10 team without Helle in my view.

The Jets have taken the enjoyment of hockey right out of me.

I worked during the game yesterday. Most other seasons (and earlier this year) I would avoid the score and watch it fresh on the PVR when I got home. I figured, “why bother” yesterday — they’re not gonna win. Low and behold, I come here after the game and see we lost.

I made a comment here last night about how I couldn’t wait for summer to start. It’s true. I’m tired of the winter wonderland and want some nice weather for bike rides, taking my Corvette out for a drive, and ice cream on the beach … but I’m also just ready for the Jets season to end. We very well might make the playoffs but we’ve been playing SO badly lately that it’s hard for me to get excited for that.

The Bombers fell on their faces in the Grey Cup and pissed away the great season they had. BUT — they give me hope. Different leagues, different sports, different circumstances, but I am a million times more excited for the Blue and Gold to get rolling than I am to see the rest of this NHL season play out, and I generally prefer hockey to football. But the Bombers, man, I can’t wait to see them line up Kenny Lawler, Dalton Schoen, Nic Demski, Rasheed Bailey, Drew Wolitarsky with Brady Oliveira in the backfield and Zach Collaros slinging passes and dare other teams to stop them. It’s gonna be a fun season.

Anyway, back to hockey. I love coming here to read the takes on this board but I’m just so apathetic towards the Jets right now. I cannot understand why, in the thick of a playoff battle, the Jets are so inconsistent (at best) at giving a full effort. You have a guy like Scheifele, who was drafted as a hockey nerd who prided himself on improving his game … and he’s just floating out there. Again. For another season. I always envisioned him playing his entire career here, but I think he needs to go.

This is the third coach these guys have cratered under. It’s time to move on from the core this summer, IMO.

Call me a fair weather fan, call me a pessimist, call me apathetic, whatever you want, I’m just not enjoying the Jets like I used to and I’m ready for a change.

I'm actually surprised the mods are letting some of these rumours stand. I think talking about Trouba and some others having drug problems was considered libel with a warning, but talking about a player's personal life is somehow permissible...seems contradictory. The most plausible explanation for Scheifele's decline is being benched after a bad game, 2 games after scoring the GWG in heroic fashion, and one game after an important road victory. Because before that the signs were rather positive, and one could argue he was the only player generating consistent offense. I don't know more than anyone else, but it's obvious without Mark Scheifele playing at his highest level this team is going nowhere.

So he's soft then. But reality is marks been half assing the past few seasons now

Exactly how have I moved goalposts? I've consistently said that teams need centre depth to compete for the cup, and that teams should aquire any of the necessary ingredients for a cup winning team if they present themselves.

You're the one that brought up 17-18 and the fact that we had a good season with subpar centre depth (while ignoring that facts that we DIDN'T win AND chevy spent assets to try to improve the centre depth).

So just to be clear, you're saying Montreal is better off long term with Dach and pick 15 than PLD and pick 20 (which is the deal I'm proposing). Which would you rather have on rhe Jets?

Don’t think it’s a shocking revelation that Schief is known to have an arrogance about him in the locker room.

Was it just about term?
The way i understood it at the time was that stas wanted and extra year and chevy wasnt prepared to do it... there could always be other factors but i know the vegas contract was longer than we offered

I didn't watch the game yesterday, as I was busy dealing with my nephew's memorial service and a sudden life altering event. I see the Jets failed again. They have to do changes this offseason. They have to. They tried the coach, and it worked for 3 months. You need to change the complexion of the top end players on the team. I also think coach's systems are playing into it as well. There are cycling and grinding down low, then passing the puck to the point for a point shot. They are easily frustrated. It's boring hockey.
Sorry about your nephew.

I wasn't expecting any games, so this is a surprise.

My condolences at such a difficult time.

And yet Chevy traded for that last year of his Vegas contract. And then gave him another one!

Was Mark Scheifele really the reason this team lost. Was his lost draw worse than Dubois's? I mean Dubois at least had time to move the guy out of the goalie's eyes, but he didn't.

What I saw on that lost draw was Wheeler didn't fill the gap, which gave a clean shot. What I saw on the ice was Wheeler struggled to win one on one's and make any good puck movements. I did see Scheifele give Dubois a great feed that got him attacking off the edge, by stickhandling through the Kings trap. I saw him set up Ehlers for two in a row from the slot at the top of the circles, great shooting area, no shots on goal though.

I mean Scheifele drew a lot of Danault in this game, and Danault is a hard matchup centre, the Kings didn't give the Jets a lot of space, and the guys who aren't strong on the puck struggled to create any space.

I don't think he should be averse to criticism in this game, or any recent loss, but he's become the scapegoat.
I thought Connor actually had a worse game than Scheifele, objectively. I wonder if he has some kind of hand injury because he's not shooting the puck very dangerously at all, and the rest of his game isn't dominant enough to protect him from negative results.

I just don't know what you do if you are Bones. Maybe load up the power line of Connor-Dubois-Scheifele, get them to play the way you want. Put Namestnikov back between Ehlers and Wheeler, which was working? And move Niedrreiter down a line?

Maybe if the Jets PP could just be average instead of the worst in the league for the month of March the outcome would have been different. Seriously if the Jets could have scored at least 2 PPs on the major they win the game. It's not like LA has a good PK ... the Kings are 22nd (bottom third) in the league on the PK.
This team does not have any chemistry ... something is definitely wrong with the Jets.
I would love to talk to Stats or Buff I'm sure they know who the player(s) are that need to go but I think we all know who the cancer is. Chevy needs to fix this over the summer and if Chipman steps in ... Chevy should quit.
Oh yeah totally agree

Disappointed that Lizotte didn't get at least 2 games, nowhere near the play Lizotte had no intention of fighting and wanted to do maximum damage with his stick, that a chicken shit move and I hope Joshua has a long memory.

I’m sure he does

Part of my problem with the jets, is that they probably won’t do anything.
