The posting of his picture is giving me this nagginly funny "NHL player Derek Morris" vibe.

Lots of options on the kings now. I think its best to send tt down and let him get games under his belt in a competative ahl playoff push. He had a good debut but he's not ready to roster on a style like the kings in another cup run.

Let's go Penner! If he could settle in and make an impact as the 2nd line winger I'd feel much better. He's done it before, now is the time to bring it!

I think he's played well for most of the year, but the results haven't been there.

He's clearly our best option for 2nd line LW.

2 goals in almost 30 games. Wow. 11 goals in 109 regular season games as a King.

He cashed in based on the series agaisnt Phoenix and that's it. He been terrible before and after.

It's time for a change for Penner. Toffoli and Clifford have done better in the 2nd line LW and have equal or more goals in less games.

Eh, Penner will be gone after this year I'm sure. I wouldn't call a one year contract "cashing in" either. And Clifford has been a penalty disaster the last few games on the 2nd line.

Hmm not sure about that. Pens has played a great game along the boards and in front of the net, he has been using is body to protect and maintain possession of the puck. I think the way he plays opens up a lot of ice for Carter and Richards to work. We need Penner back on that line.

Hopefully that change comes in the off-season. I don't think he's earned another extension from the Kings.

It's nice that Sutter will have more options now. It also helps in that Clifford gets slotted in a spot where he is more effective. If they aren't going to play Toffoli, they should probably send him down.

Wonder if Richardson is heading back to the press box? He really isn't a fit on the 2nd line either. Penner does seem to play his best hockey when the stakes are at their highest.

He's been passable. He looked like our best option this year with Richards and Carter. He started off poorly butt was still earning roughly .6 PPG in his 8 or so games on that line from start to finish. He just has to do the dirty work in order to help those guys and it's hard for me to admit but he has done that.

Penner has easily been the best LW option with Richards/Carter. The guy makes one mistake and the entire fanbase crashes on top of him: he has not been bad this year at all for the most part.

This team is going nowhere in the playoffs unless he plays as well as he did in the last one.

It's only the fans who get on him? I guess you must have another reason why Darryl Sutter has made Penner a healthy scratch on more than one occasion.

I agree that Penner has been the best option on LW with Richards and Carter, but considering the other options they've had, the competition for Penner isn't necessarily that tough.

Penner has been the best LW for the Richards and Carter line, and generally I agree with BigKing's point. If he doesn't turn it around there's only so far this team can go. Our scoring options are one line, one guy, and the top PP loaded up with nearly all our scoring talent on it.

We need the bottom six guys to be consistent in chipping in and Penner too. In the playoffs the Kings must have a second line that works, not just one or two players on it, but three of them.

When the games get tighter and move to the boards in the playoffs, Penner shines. He's not gonna run and gun. That makes him look stupid.

maybe the 4th line won't be garbage with clifford back on it.

Okay keep Richardson in and get Fraser out and put in Penner. :)

After a revolving door of wingers for the second line, I think he is the best option. I also don't think he'll be back next season, Dean said he was signing him for one more year with an option for an extension but I don't think he's earned it. Send Toffoli back to the AHL for more experience and bring him back up once Manchester is eliminated. He's been a healthy scratch for a few games now and needs to play.

Penner's pretty much on a 40 point pace this season, which is a hell of an improvement over last year. I haven't obviously havent seen as much as Sutter has that warrants his benching, but overall I've relatively pleased.

Glad to hear this. Even if he his level of play has been a bit inconsistent, I also think he has been our most effective LW on the second line. Clifford works better on the bottom 6. Toffoli played well, but needs a different partner than Carter. Penner has clearly lost his goal-scoring touch, but he is still good at throwing his weight around and has done a good job creating plays for his linemates.

If we don't re-sign Penner for next season, who do we think takes his spot? Pearson maybe?
