I don't understand this way of thinking..... to me I could care less what Robitaille or Blake say....because I know that it's VERY VERY VERY RARE, that a team in Pro Sports, will come out and say, we suck, we want to lose, we want the #1 OA, we aren't going anywhere, etc, the only thing they have to say is that they belive in the team, believe they can win, etc etc etc....

So while yea, it's lip service, you have to recognize that it would be that way with any team, in any sport, regardless.....

Lombardi basically said this, that they had a plan and it would involve a painful season or two, but to trust the plan. It worked out very well for the Kings.

Not sure I'm aware of any "plan" of Luc or Blake.

It fits everyone, that's the point.

You'll never win an arms race in the NHL that others have a few years headstart on, no matter when your picks are. The cream will rise to the top no matter what 'type' of team they are.

The Kings beat a team in the Rangers in 2014 that were reputed to be the fastest in the NHL at that time, people as a whole were just ready to proclaim the 'speed' era because they hated the Kings grinding everyone to pulp.

Here's a fun exercise. Try to come up with a list of Kings players worth protecting in the 2021 expansion draft. Can the Kings opt to protect only 3 or 4 names and expose the rest of this crappy roster?

b) Eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender

I'm assuming Cal Petersen would be around, and he was the first name after Doughty I thought of who'd be worth protecting. Of course they're locked in with the NMC players automatically having to be protected as well.

Thank God they're coming in 2021, because having had to protect Kovalchuk and Phaneuf would have been quite shitty.

Thompson line 4 will somehow get 17 minutes, whilst Leipsic and Amadio will get 5 minutes. Cruel math.
