Yeah that looks like a soccer field.

Judging by the level of amazement in this thread, I assume many of you didn't watch any Olympic hockey this February.

Teräväinen was really bad today, especially on the 5-on-3 in the 3rd where Jokerit could have won the game.

@TramyersCSN
As far as Mr. Teravainen, Q said he and the #Blackhawks powers will discuss that after the game.

@MarkLazerus
Nothing definitive on Teravainen yet. Q said he's not opposed to the idea of him coming in and playing a role in the playoffs. #Blackhawks

@MarkLazerus
Quenneville also said he's "comfortable" with Michal Handzus in that second-line center role in the playoffs. #Blackhawks

Not many cares about Jokerit here and how they performed, fact is, Teuvo is going to have a totally different linemates and team around him very soon. What you saw at Jokerit is not comparable.

Two Fins have commented on how poorly TT played today?

Is Liiga like NHL- where the physicality and cheap shots go way up in playoffs???
Could this be the reason TT played poorly- or choked???

Looking for any Liigs/Fin fan to comment.

thx

No, and no.

TT was lousy, so was whole his team, BUT real issue here is the team they were faced was hottest in the league at the time, and Jokerit-fanbase don't wanna give credit to HPK but instead bash TT.

edit: consider Jokerit fanbase something comparable to eehh.. lets say leafs/nucks

Well kind of, but not in this "series". Wasn't even the first round of the playoffs. In my mind Teuvo's thoughts were already in Chicago. But the whole Jokerit situation is very hard to explain and would take hours to explain it especially to foreigners who haven't followed Finnish hockey.. The blame definitely wasn't on Teuvo. It's a team effort, wherever you go.

He is also going to have very different opponents. It's hard for me to see why Teräväinen would be more ready for the NHL right now than Mikael Granlund was 14 months ago. Granlund was even more dominating in the Finnish league, but after coming to America he saw pretty fast that it doesn't mean a thing at the highest level.

BUT real issue here is the team they were faced was hottest in the league at the time

That's a really poor excuse for the lousy performance by Jokerit and Teuvo. "Hot" as they might be, HPK will have no chance against Kärpät.

I don't care how TT played in Finland, there is NO WAY he could possibly be as bad or worse than Handzus is at #2C. It literally isn't possible.

I think he lost his confidence in that last regular season game against Kärpät when Jokerit lost the chance to go straight to the first round. Jokerit has been a mess after they announce that they are moving in the KHL next season. And after that disgrace of a game yesterday I'm really impressed that he played today's game and not took the first possible flight to Chicago.

I don't think TT will be a rainmaker this season but couple games and time in the system would benefit him for challenging the spot next season. In Chicago he gets something he never got in Jokerit. Great players to play with, a professional organization and good coaching.

On European standards Jokerit is one of the most professional teams in Europe.

I agree. You can still clearly see signs of his floorball days in Teuvo's way of playing, and I don't think floorball mentality is something that will work in the NHL, even though he was a phenomenal floorball player.

You guys have WAYYY to high expectations for him if you actually except him to be able to handle 2nd line center responsibilities in the NHL right now... I don't think he is anywhere near ready. Even as a winger. This is no sleight on TT I believe he is a great prospect, but he is just that a prospect. He needs time in Rockford and he needs to bulk up and get used to the speed of the game in the NHL. I believe Mikael Granlund would be a pretty good example of what I'm talking about. It took him a year in the AHL and a super busy summer to get ready for the NHL and he was a lot bigger star in Finland then TT is now. If he does come here he should go to Rockford for the rest of the season work really hard in the off season and then he might be ready for NHL next year, but even that I think is too early for him. To me he needs a full season in Rockford to be ready for NHL let alone to be a center in the NHL. A few regular season games in the NHL could be good for him however to get the idea on how fast the NHL game really is and what he needs to work on.

This is what all Hawk fans are hoping for. Talent breeds talent... and he certainly has displayed a lot of it.

I agree with this. I think that there are very high expectations of what he can do. Not saying he cannot fulfill them but to put him on the 2nd line is doing nothing more than show where management went wrong in not firming that up in the offseason. Don't risk his development for that quick hopeful fix in this season. If he blows the doors off next camp then great. But right now I am afraid it is not a good thing.

But then ….I have heard I am wrong every once in a while.

It's funny we freak out about our 2C problem and how it wasn't fixed at the deadline and now a week later the problem is fixed. (I say fixed because all TV has to do is be marginally better than Handzus so the bar is pretty low).

I would love to see:
Saad-Toews-Kane
Sharp-TV-Hossa

I can already picture TV setting up Sharp for a one-time clapper at the dot. Like a poor man's Backstrom/Ovechkin connection.

Chicago uses the Towes line as its shut down line, I doubt you see Kane playing with Toews unless Chicago trails.

How were they going to firm that up with as little cap space as they had?

You're going to need to pay 5M per to get a quality 2nd line centre in the NHL. Where was that money going to come from? I guess they could have not re-signed Bickell, but then we could have ended up with Weiss - and look how that's turned out for DET.

I would have liked to get Filppula from Detroit, but given how his season went last year, you could understand not wanting to pay him 5M per.

That waste of roster space known as David Rundblad should be the guy ,, But then Stan would admit a major failure which wont happen

y

Bpwman obviously thought it was a good move when it was made, do you think he's changed his mind?

He won't admit a major failure because he doesn't think it was,

In a cap world, you can't firm up everything you want with perfect players.

Get used to it.
