The fact that went uncalled still pisses me off, that was a predatory illegal hit, if Sherwood milks it and stays down and goes to the locker room, it's potentially a 5 minute call, instead we got nothing.

The NHL is headed down a dangerous path by factoring in the result of the hits so heavily. I think you'll see embellishment continue to rise because of it.

It doesn’t factor in the severity of hits whatsoever. Guys miss weeks when the cheap shot artist gets 5 and a game - if

He’s literally on pace for 500+ hits which would set an NHL record (2005) and I sure as hell know enforces of the past couldn’t skate as quick as him to make 10+ hits a game especially when they’re in the box for 10 minutes a game.

But aside from that, there literally hasn’t been a muckier guy in the line up who has given me such joy since I saw Burrows come up. Currently on pace for 30 goals.

Hey @Vector, you know what to do. Post the side by side numbers of a certain Nashville player and Sherwood!

Kiefer Sherwood pops out as a potential bottom six forward pickup. I liked his game in the Nashville series and he’s extremely physical.

On the more offensive side, I wonder if a guy like Danton Heinen might not be a good add. Bit of a tweener, but he can bury some pucks, has played on some good teams, and is a local boy.

Defense is hard to predict. I know Dhaliwal has telegraphed Dillon pretty hard.

I get the feeling Zadorov is gone to chase a big payday.

I mentioned earlier, I would look at Kiefer Sherwood for a bottom six role - very physical player who stood out in a positive way for me in the Nashville series.

I still maintain that if we are looking for a sandpaper/physicality type guy with some upside in the bottom six, that Kiefer Sherwood from Nashville is one to look at.

Duhaime crashes and bangs, but provides limited in other areas and at $2M, might not be very good value.

No doubt that it brought him on the radar. At 1.5 million, it doesn't seem like too many others were paying attention. You'd have to figure Nashville could have re-signed him at that price, but perhaps the Canucks were one of the only teams that went to him and told him they believed he had more to offer then just be a 4th line wrecking ball.

As a fan, you gotta love these guys that toil away in the minors or in small roles and earn every opportunity they get before finally finding success. Particularly when we have all seen our fair share of the opposite situation, like high picks who have everything handed to them and squander it.

He was eligible from 2013 to 2015. This type of production didn't really indicate a future NHLer.

Player development can take some bizarre turns. Sometimes highly drafted guys just stall out.....while others like Burrows and Sherwood just keep on improving as they make their lonely journey through hockey's minor league outposts.

When Burrows showed up at his first NHL training camp as an invitee of the Canucks, he was an ECHL player at best. But you couldn't keep him out of the NHL by his mid-20's.

Sherwood was a far better offensive player in the AHL than Burrows was. And should have been on somebody's radar long before now. But was stamped as an AHL-NHL 'tweener after stops in the Ducks, Avalanche and Predators organizations.

But you can't measure the size of a guy's heart and his absolute will and determination to succeed.

I'm wondering whether his long route to being an NHL regular had more to do with COVID than anything else. What ever the reason, I'm glad he's on our side.

It’s wild that a guy who can skate and doesn’t shy away from contact with that type of AHL production didn’t get more of a shot.

How was Sherwood stamped an AHL-NHL tweener by the Preds when he was a ~0.5PPG player for them last year with zero games in the AHL?

Burrows was a ~1PPG player in the AHL at 24 and then never saw another game in the league after that.
